A Fisher of Men

Summary:

After he and Arthur encounter Agents Milton and Ross, Jack worries about what happens next.

Work Text:

Jack is a kid, but he isn’t stupid. Despite what Uncle Arthur said, Jack knows how bad those men were, butterflies in his stomach.

And he knows Uncle Arthur lied to him on their ride back to camp, trying to keep Jack in the dark. Because he heard Arthur telling Uncle Dutch about their meeting by the river, and Jack has never heard Arthur sound so worried.

They may try to shield Jack from scary stuff, but he can sense bad things from their voices and faces. And despite his family’s efforts, Jack knows something awful is going to happen.
