Chapter 1
The loud music of the party was pounding inside Wonho's head. There was a faint stinging pain of a headache surrounding the buzzing he felt. Normally he'd be quick to blame it on the alcohol, except for he hadn't had a single sip all night.
He was situated by himself, off to the side of the room, not completely sure if he regretted coming or not. When he was presented with the option of staying home alone on a Friday night or attending one of the biggest parties of the year, the choice seemed clear. But being here made him realize that he made the wrong choice. Everyone was drunk out of their minds and he had every intention to keep himself sober.
Wonho turned his head away from a loud group who somehow managed to laugh at a pitch louder than the music. He brought his drink up to his lips pretending to take a sip. So tempted, but his self control was strong.
As he lowered the cup, a hand came around from behind him and snatched it.
"Are you ever going to drink this?"
Wonho gulped before turning around to see who it was. He was met with a smirking boy who placed the stolen drink on a nearby table. It took Wonho's clouded brain a few moments to recognize who it was.
Yoo Kihyun.
The confusion must have been prominent on Wonho's face because Kihyun chuckled and leaned onto the wall next to him.
"You're Wonho, right? You look lost," he stated.
Lost? More scared than anything. The Yoo Kihyun starting a conversation with him wasn't accidental or friendly small talk. He had a reason, and that terrified Wonho beyond existence.
I shouldn't have come.
"Woah, hey, I didn't mean to make you look more lost," Kihyun said with a light laugh, which brought Wonho's wandering brain back into focus. "Maybe you do need this drink," Kihyun said reaching for the cup he placed down earlier.
"Oh uh no thanks," Wonho said, his heart beating way too fast. Kihyun really does have this intimidating aura about him, even though he's slightly shorter than Wonho. The boy's confidence presented such a mysterious haze over him that it was near impossible to even try to guess his true intentions.
Kihyun only tilted his head and squinted his eyes a bit, wondering why someone would come to a party—by himself for that matter— but then refuse to drink; or even talk to anyone.
The moment of silence between the two boys had Wonho's nerves out of control. This whole interaction feels unreal and is making him anxious. He awkwardly continued talking.
"I, um, was actually about to head home," Wonho said with a tight smile.
"Home?" Kihyun answered, "but this is nowhere near over, why so soon?"
The way he spoke was so smooth. It had the ability to get anyone to do anything.
"I just don't really feel good," Wonho said. Which wasn't a total lie because his headache was making him want to cry, and the loud bass boosted music wasn't doing anything to help.
"I see. Wait here."
And with that, Kihyun ran off into another room. Wonho contemplated just running away while he was gone. But if the Kihyun tells you to stay; you stay. That's just who he is.
Wonho sighed and leaned back against the wall, shoving his hands into his sweatshirt pocket. His eyes scanned the crowded room. Not focusing on anything in particular; just a blur of people that seemed to be enjoying themselves.
This whole social event was making him feel even more like a loner. Which, in turn, didn't do anything to help with the fear of what Kihyun wanted.
After a few moments, Kihyun returned.
"Soo, you're leaving?" he asked.
Wonho scrunched his eyes slightly before nodding.
"Okay, I'll walk you home," Kihyun casually answered, motioning towards the door.
