Chapter Text
It had been another late shift but for one it would be her last. "I'm sorry to see you go, Yuki. Does your new job pay more than this one?" Both were in the process of putting on their shoes although once leaned back in order to reply to the question. "I don't have anything at the moment but I couldn't take another day in this place" Even showing up for this last shift was tough enough. Doing a job, you hated always took its toll and she'd finally be free as soon as her feet passed through those doors one last time. "Was it really that bad? I'm sorry you should have told me this sooner. Want me to at least walk you home?"
"Thank you but I need to decline. We are in opposite directions and besides, I have to make a stop on my way home" It was long passed two in the morning which was why Yuki could not allow the other to escort her home. She could already see the eyes of the other were threatening to close at any moment. "Fair enough. Could you at least call me once you make it home? I want to make sure you get there safely. There has been a lot more crime in this area lately" Yuki understood the crime rate had gone up even with the presence of heroes the villains still flocked to the area.
"Ren... There is nothing to worry about" Yuki knew the dangers the city held although even with her weak quirk she still made due. Not to say she avoided the villains altogether but it was an occurrence that was normal in her eyes. As long as she did not provoke them, they usually left her alone. "Yuki, villains are a real threat and you need to stop being careless" Ren had made a good point. Yuki just had her own opinion regarding it. "Is that not why we have heroes? To protect us from the big bad villains? Tsk. I am sorry but that just makes me sick"
"Heroes are the good guys, Yuki. I understand but please be careful" Yuki was waiting by the door while Ren finished tying her laces. "Walk me to the corner? I have a present for you" Ren's eyes held such emotion in them but she quickly shook her head before standing to her feet double-checking to make sure she had everything. "Sure, just wait outside I forgot my scan card again" She was bad at forgetting that card behind the bar so Yuki just struggled with her shoulders that the girl's mistake. "K"

Eight Minutes Later...
It had only been a couple of minutes but Yuki was already bored from the waiting. So, when her friend exited the building, a sigh escaped her lips. "Did you find it, Ren?" The girl retraced her steps but unfortunately didn't find what she had set out to find. "No... I will have to pay for another replacement" It would be her fifth card that she had lost and they were not cheap to replace. "Maybe it will show up tomorrow. I know this is not the corner but here" Yuki had handed over a small grocery bag. It could have been wrapped although the girl couldn't find the time. "Thanks, Yuki"
Ren was quick to unravel the knot and shove her hand into the bag. A small box was soon in her hand although it didn't take long for it to be popped open. "No! You remembered!" Yuki knew she had been eyeing it for months and since it was an okay price, she decided to make it an early birthday present. Even though Ren was taking her time admiring the gift Yuki decided the night needed to end. "See you around Ren. I will call you later"
"You better. Thank you for the present!"
"No problem!" Both girls turned toward their own destination but before Yuki rounded the corner, she held herself in place to watch Ren walk safely into her building. She lived just across from the bar and didn't bother to turn around as she walked up the steps disappearing down the hall. Knowing her friend was safe made Yuki turn to start toward her own apartment. Her's was further away about twenty minutes but that was fine with her. The streets were quiet almost like no one else was awake at this time of night.
"Peaceful" The day was always so loud for Yuki. She took up nights to avoid the fighting of the heroes and villains but even then, they kept her up from time to time. In truth, she hated both of them. One of full of themselves posing for the limelight while the other was playing a game they would always lose. "Pitiful" Her apartment was still another ten minutes away but for one reason or another, she stopped in her tracks. "You're pitiful too, Yuki. Quitting your job. What were you thinking?" Her words just echoed off the walls but with a sigh, her pace picked up once again.
Yuki was walking faster than she normally would although it was late and she just wanted to sleep. She must have misjudged her surrounding since in an instant her face was planted into the hard street. Needless to say, it hurt more than it should, and when Yuki tried to stand a pain could be felt in her ankle. "Not again" She could have hopped home but due to her pride, Yuki only lifted her pant leg to inspect the injury. The flashlight on her phone was not the best in the world and the abuse Yuki inflicted on it didn't help matters. However, with a quick smack, the flashlight stopped flickering and remained on.
"That's better" With the flashlight in hand Yuki stared down at the already bruising ankle. "Just a strain. I can work with this" Her quirk was not fit for combat but it was a hell of a support skill that kept Yuki out of the ER on more occasions than she would care to admit. Sure, Yuki was tired although soon her head would be resting against a soft pillow so before she could think any more of it her hand rested against the injury. The hand let out a soft glow but Yuki was keeping an eye on it. She could heal it just enough for her to walk comfortably home and then fix the rest in the morning.
Well, that had been the plan until Yuki felt a sudden wave of exhaustion rush through her body. "Wha- I didn't even use... that much" It had all happened so quickly but her body had given out. Her body was left laying on the sidewalk until a stranger stepped out of the shadows. They had already witnessed her quirk and decided she would be useful. Without making a single sound they carefully leaned down to retrieve Yuki. She let out a slight groan but besides that she remained asleep, completely oblivious to what was happening around her.
With a single step, the stranger stepped back into the shadows disappearing as if he hadn't been there, to begin with. Stepping into the light, a small bar appeared around the pair but there wasn't anyone else present at the moment. Only half an hour ago there had been another person drinking at the bar however he must have stepped out. There was little thought of where to put Yuki and given there was only one usable room, she would be stored there for the time being. The owner of that room would grow upset but at the moment that thought was ignored.
'Knock' 'Knock'
It was only polite to knock before entering another person's room but when no one answered the door was pushed open. Yuki was placed on the untouched bed within a second and just as quickly the door was shut encasing her in darkness while the other returned to the bar. With the light, it was made clear the suit that hung from his form as well as the shadowy appearance he possessed. "Kurogiri! Where were you!? I was looking for you but you weren't here! How dare you leave without telling me!"
"My apologizes Tomura Shigaraki I did not intend to leave on such short notice" Tomura had only just arrived so that hand was still locked onto his face but he pulled it away and sat it on the bar. "Don't let it happen again. Where did you go?" Kurogiri poured out a glass of whiskey for the male to sip on although thought over his words carefully. He was loyal to the male without question but didn't wish to upset him. "To retrieve a new recruit" It was not exactly a lie or the truth however the young male could be easily swayed. "A new recruit. Did Master send you?"
"She possesses a healing quirk, Tomura Shigaraki" He never did confirm or deny what Tomura had asked but, in the end, the male forgot what he had asked after hearing about the quirk. "Really? Our group was missing one of those. You said they were a girl. Where is she?" His eyes looked around but didn't notice any other person in the room. "Resting"
"Oh, at one of the nearby hotels?" Tomura knew there was only one room in this building currently being used for rest although he also knew that was his and his alone. "No" He was growing annoyed with Kurogiri's vague answers although decided to give him one last chance. "Then where is she?" His foot was tapping against the floor in an attempt to ignore the sudden itch coming from his neck. "I took the liberty of placing her in your bedroom, Tomura Shigaraki"
Upon hearing that Tomura's hands raised to his neck as he began to pace back and forth. "You did what?" His fingernails could easily tear the skin if not careful although it wouldn't be the first time. "Please calm down" Kurogiri was too busy trying to calm the male that neither noticed the once sleeping girl was now standing behind them. "Excuse me? Sorry to interrupt but could one of you... guys tell me where I am? I blacked out again" Yuki had already picked up on their weird appearances but in a world of quirks, she was used to it. "Is that her? She doesn't look like anything special"
Yuki wouldn't have insulted the male but since he gave her an insult, she just sent one right back at him. "Neither do you and from the looks of it, you could use some chapstick" Tomura hated when others commented on his appearance although before Kurogiri could stop him his body connected with Yuki. Both were knocked to the floor but Yuki didn't seem concerned her life was now at risk. "Looks like I struck a nerve"
"What the hell!? Who is this brat, Kurogiri!? Why are you still standing!?" Yuki was listening to Tomura have his temper tantrum although was becoming annoyed with the weight he brought with him. "I'm on the ground moron. Now, get off of me you're heavy" She was trying to push Tomura off of her sore body but it was no use. "No. What are you? Y-You shouldn't even still be here!" Again, his hands reached for his throat before going to town on it all while Yuki stared up at him. "I'm Yuki and you're hurt"
It was obvious to most that Tomura's neck was now bleeding except for the male himself who continued on despite the blood digging into his nails. "What are yo- You're right" Tomura stared at the blood although he wasn't going to do much about it. "Pitiful. There all bett-" Yuki was out cold once again due to overusing her quirk but she was content his injury was healed for now. "Kurogiri, what is she?" She should have been dead, nothing more than a pile of ash. That's how it always turned out when Tomura used all five digits on anything. So, why was Yuki still alive?
"I do not know. Perhaps she'll be more useful to you than I originally thought. Do you wish to keep her, Tomura Shigaraki?" She had already ticked him off and while there were other ways to kill a person there was curiosity behind this girl. "I touched her and yet she's still here" Tomura knew both of his hands made direct contact and stayed there for several moments but it refused to work. "It shouldn't be possible"
Tomura had been staring at his hands as if something had been wrong with them however drop them to his sides as his sights locked instead on the girl. "She can stay but teach her some manners" He was reasonable and stepped to stand next to her body instead of hovering over her before leaning down to pick her up. It should have been easy although there was a small incident that involved him accidentally decaying her shirt. Nothing could be done about it now so he ignored it as the shirtless girl was held against his chest. "Very well. Shall I clean out one of the spare rooms?"
"No, she will stay with me. I'm going to touch her till she crumbles in my grip" Tomura refused to believe she could avoid his quirk and he was determined to prove it. "What if she is immune to your decay, Tomura Shigaraki?"
"There is more than one way to break a person"
