Work Text:

“Truth or dare?”

The words were asked by Wooyoung and Yeosang couldn’t pretend he didn’t hear them. It didn’t matter that EDM music was playing loud enough to make his bones vibrate, Wooyoung had draped himself over Yeosang and the words were whisper shouted. Yeosang felt each one, Wooyoung’s lips ghosting the shell of his ear. Wooyoung made sure Yeosang was aware of his question, unbeknownst to him that Yeosang was always aware of him.

Yeosang tried to lean away from his friend who pouted at the lack of response and in retaliation wrapped one arm around his neck and pulled him closer so they’re cheeks were flush.

“Answer my question,” Wooyoung whined.

He felt every word and every breath, and if he was a weaker man he might have leaned into it, looked at Wooyoung to see if he was half as flustered as himself. But he had gotten used to Wooyoung throughout the years and used to ignoring the fluttering of his heart every time Wooyoung pulled stupid shit like this.

So instead he shoved Wooyoung away and settled further into the couch’s corner. Yeosang ignored his friend’s faux offended expression and looked around the room. A mass of bodies dancing to music, and there was a noticeable one missing.

“He’s still in the kitchen.”

Yeosang winced at how obvious he was being, Wooyoung having a way to make him feel seen all at once and not at all.

“So because of San having to fulfill your ridiculous order I’m your victim?” Yeosang asked and dodged a hit from Wooyoung.

“The only victim here is me because you won’t answer my question!”

Yeosang was saved by having to respond by a hand ruffling his hair. He ducked away from the touch to look up to find the perpetrator was just who he expected, smiley dimples and everything.

Unfazed, San moved over to the opposite end of the couch where Wooyoung awaited making grabby hands for the cup.

“Here you go babe,” San said and gave his boyfriend the drink.

Wooyoung downed it in one go and rewarded San by dragging him into his lap and down for a kiss.

He learned it was easier to look away when this happened.

“Yeosang is right here,” San said, out of breath as he escaped Wooyoung’s grasp, settling for comfortably sitting between the two friends.

That didn’t stop Wooyoung from throwing his arms around San and hooking his chin over his shoulder, his eyes holding a dangerous twinkle while he said, “Sangie doesn’t mind.”

The two of them together were a beautiful sight, one that haunted Yeosang day and night. Their constant PDA found a way into his dreams as much as his reality and like everything else in his life, Wooyoung knew.

But Wooyoung was also a dumbass and didn’t know exactly how much it meant to Yeosang, how much he found himself reveling in each of their touches and wincing away at the same time. Because it was never like how Yeosang wished it to be.

Pathetic to be in love with your best friend and his boyfriend.

But most of all pathetic to do nothing about it but look at them and desperately you could be part of it.

“Just because I don’t vomit at your mating rituals doesn’t mean I don’t mind it.”

At least it didn’t bother him in the way that Wooyoung expected, close enough.

Wooyoung grumbled something to San who laughed it off and turned his attention back to Yeosang. It was a different type of intense having both of their attention on him, one that made him squirm a little.

“Sorry Yeosang, I’ll try to get him to behave,” San said and Wooyoung tried to bite the finger San was pointing at him.

“What are you talking about? I’m an angel.”

Yeosang and San shared a pointed look.

“He’s the gremlin for not answering my question.”

If anything Wooyoung was persistent when he wanted to, an admirable quality in some cases and flat out annoying in others. Like now.

“What’s the question?”

“Truth or dare,” Yeosang answered, not quite trusting Wooyoung.

With what exactly, he couldn’t place his finger on it. But now more than ever Wooyoung was emitting mischievous vibes, and having to play truth or dare gave his friend a little too much power. It wasn’t like Yeosang would be able to lie directly, Wooyoung saw through him too easily. (The irony that Wooyoung knew him so well but still hadn’t figured out his best friend liked him and his boyfriend wasn’t lost on Yeosang.)

Maybe that’s why Yeosang responded the way he did. He didn’t want Wooyoung to repeat himself and San chastise him again. Somehow their little bickering sessions were so filled with love and it made Yeosang’s skin itch and his mind beg him to wonder how he’d fit in with them.

So before he could fall further into self pity and too many what if’s, he said, “Dare. I choose dare.”

The response shocked the couple just as much as Yeosang himself. But it was out there now, no taking it back.

Wooyoung seemed to be worried that Yeosang was going to go back on it though, because after taking a moment to process that Yeosang had answered his silly question- and with a dare at that- he leaned over San’s shoulder to say just loud enough for Yeosang and San to hear, “I dare you to kiss my boyfriend.”

Both froze at the words, probably for very different reasons.

“What the fuck Wooyoung?” Yeosang asked, anger bubbling under his skin at the suggestion.

It was easier to be angry, and in a way that wasn’t a lie. He was pissed in a sense, except it wasn’t on San’s behalf like it should have. Instead Yeosang was mad that Wooyoung would encourage him to do something he wanted so badly. But this wasn’t the same to Wooyoung. He would never understand. He couldn’t because at the end of the day, Wooyoung had someone to call his and Yeosang-

“What if it’s a double dog dare? Would you back down from a double dog dare, Yeosangie?”

And it threw Yeosang off that it was San asking him this question. The fact that he didn’t mind that his boyfriend dared Yeosang to kiss him, but it also felt weird to hear the words double dog dare coming from him. That was Wooyoung and Yeosang’s thing, the way that they egged each other on to do stupid shit throughout school and getting through life.

I double dog dare you to sit on top of the monkey bars.

Wooyoung-ah I double dog dare you to eat your steak with ranch.

Double dog dare you to join dress up as Pokémon with me, I call dibs on Pikachu!

You just want to be PikaWoo. But fine, I’ll be Houndoom.

More like Jigglypuff.

I double dog dare you to go to this interview, I know you want it.

And now a double dog dare to kiss his best friend’s boyfriend, from the boyfriend too.

Did Wooyoung and San double dog dare each other? Or was this something that Wooyoung let slip about their childhood and San caught on? Yeosang should feel mad that Wooyoung shared something that was so integral to their childhood to San who showed up much later, but he didn’t. In fact the words double dog dare sounded good coming from those pretty lips of San.

The same lips that Yeosang couldn’t take his eyes off now, because both he and Wooyoung were edging him on to kiss them.

Fuck. How had he gotten here? How had he fallen so deep into these boys in front of him? And who was going to catch him when they realized this wasn’t a game to him?

So instead of letting himself kiss San like he has wanted to for so long, Yeosang stood up.

“I think it’s great that you’re so solid in your relationship with each other that you don’t mind kissing strangers. But I can’t do this.”

He turned around and weaved through the throngs of people, not knowing where he was going, but knew that he couldn’t bear the sight of their reactions. Yeosang didn’t want to see their faces crumble as they realized that their little double dog dare was a truth more than anything else.

It was reasonable to not want to kiss a committed person, even with their partner’s consent. In the back of his head, Yeosang hoped that’s what they read the situation as. But he also knew Wooyoung. And the problem was that Wooyoung knew him all too well.

But so did San. And if San knew anything about double dog dares then there was a lot that Wooyoung and San weren’t telling him.

Too many thoughts were piling up in his head and he just wanted to forget everything. Forget that stupid truth or dare question, forget his stupid feelings, and forget double dog dares all together.

He was at a party right now, everyone else was having fun and letting loose. Why couldn’t Yeosang?

Pushing his way through dancing bodies, he made his way to the kitchen hoping to get some alcohol in his system and forget this shitty turn of events.

He found a familiar face pouring a drink.

“Minho,” Yeosang called out and attached himself to the side of his friend. He peered at the cup in Minho’s hand and the vodka he had just poured in there. It looked like he had poured some sort of fruit juice in there earlier, and he didn’t care what exactly was in that cup. He cared more about what it could do. “Want to share with your favorite 99 liner?”

Yeosang made sure to stare at his friend with wide eyes, the puppy ones that were so strong it made cat lover Minho crumble.

“And have to deal with your clingy drunk self?” Minho asked with a raised eyebrow.

Correction, almost always crumbled.

“Maybe I should give you this, then you’d run to those crushes of yours and you can finally confess. Those heart eyes are sickening.”

The words were well intentioned and light, but they made Yeosang’s heart drop.

If it was so obvious how he felt about Wooyoung and San, how come his best friend since childhood and his freshman year roommate hadn’t noticed? Even Minho who was going through a we’re divorced-we’re remarried-please just kiss already with Seungmin- had seen Yeosang’s pathetic crush on the boyfriends.

“I need the alcohol because of them,” Yeosang said, making grabby hands for the cup.

“Getting some liquid luck before confessing?”

He moved the cup upwards which was dumb because they were the same height.

“Wooyoung just dared me to kiss San for a stupid game, Minho please.”

“Fuck,” Minho said and immediately gave Yeosang the cup.

He downed it all in one go, wincing at the burn and the strange flavor combination. It didn’t need to taste good though, it just needed to help Yeosang distance himself from… well himself. From his stupid emotions and his stupid situations he got himself into.

“More,” Yeosang pleaded.

“Do you really think that’s a good idea?”

“Smarter than asking your best friend to kiss your boyfriend because of stupid Truth or Dare.”

Minho actually looked like he was considering pouring Yeosang another round when voices started shouting loud enough to be heard over the music.

An impressive feat all things considered, although Yeosang couldn’t say he was surprised. He was there with Wooyoung through his phase where he was convinced that he had the super power of sonic screaming. (He didn’t have that power, but he did get noise complaints.)

“Yeosang-ah!”

“Sangie, where are you?”

Despite his rather unpleasant emotions towards his crushes, Yeosang couldn’t help but take a moment to take them in. Beautiful idiots. They should have just called him. For all they knew, Yeosang left the party.

“You should talk to them,” Minho said instead of giving Yeosang any more alcohol.

Seeing that Minho wasn’t going to be of any help, Yeosang grabbed a red colored liquid and poured more into his cup. He pointedly ignored his friend’s disappointed look just like he was ignoring Wooyoung and San shouting for him.

He drank it and was disappointed to find out that it was just some sort of fruit juice. Although he supposed that’s what he got for drinking unlabeled drinks at a party that was being thrown for Soobin’s hedgehog Odi.

(It wasn’t even Soobin throwing the party either, it was Yeonjun.)

(The whole premise was funny enough that Yeosang agreed to going with Wooyoung and San.)

(Looked like he was the joke of tonight though.)

(Damn hedgehog karma.)

He was dwelling on the hedgehog being the cause of his doom for too long. Eventually they noticed him, Minho nodded over to them, and left Yeosang alone to deal with the consequences of his own actions. He at least hoped that Minho was going to be productive with his abandonment, maybe finally get somewhere with Seungmin.

Yeosang took another sip of his fruit juice then turned around to face the idiots (his idiots, but not even his.)

“There you are,” San said while Wooyoung engulfed him in a hug.

Yeosang turned stiff at the touch.

“You just ran off.”

“We were so worried about you.”

He hated the worried looks they were passing between each other and how damn fragile they were treating him. He was simply an idiot who developed unrequited crushes on his best friend and his boyfriend, he was not a doll. And who were they to treat him like some lost dog? It was their fault for suggesting that Yeosang kiss San, joke or not.

“Stop, just stop,” Yeosang finally said.

He hated that they were basically cornering him, that he didn’t have anywhere to run off to.

“Stop what?”

“What’s wrong, baby?”

Fuck, he loved Wooyoung and San. But right now he hated what they were doing. The way that they were a united front, the fact that they called him baby. The way that they were pointedly ignoring what had just happened cemented that this was all one sided.

Well the night had already gotten him to this point, might as well rip the bandaid off. He figured it couldn’t hurt him any more.

Looking Wooyoung in the eyes, Yeosang finally said, “I’ve had a crush on you since we were kids.”

He turned around, not wanting to see the shock and pity. This was only half of the bandaid after all.

“And you,” Yeosang said, pointing a finger at San. “I've had a crush on you since we were roommates.”

He expected silence, shouting maybe. What Yeosang wasn’t expecting was for San to say “Thank God” then kiss him.

Yeosang’s mind was static as San’s lips pressed against his. Eventually he recovered enough to finally give in and kiss him back. That spurred San on, and suddenly there was so much touching. Hands gripping his hair to pull him closer. Hands around his waist.

Wait, that was too many hands.

He pulled away, partially to catch his breath and partially to see who else was touching him. And oh-

Wooyoung.

Except Wooyoung was looking at him differently this time, still smiling but there was a glint in his eyes. Something akin to hunger and desire.

“You know, you can be a real idiot sometimes,” Wooyoung said, that smile never leaving his face before diving down to capture Yeosang’s lips.

Kissing Wooyoung was different from kissing San. For one, the angle was a lot more awkward. San was still uncertain that Yeosang wanted them like this, at least now. But Wooyoung had seen how Yeosang reacted to the two, and he knew just how much Yeosang wanted this.

And the little shit used it against him. Teasing touches followed by Wooyoung nipping at his bottom lip, it was so Wooyoung.

Of course San didn’t let Yeosang forget about him. His hands moved from Yeosang’s hair to his arms before settling onto his chest where the fucker teased his nipples.

Yeosang broke away with a groan that Wooyoung and San seemed all too delighted by.

It was good that they had a break though, things were getting intense and Yeosang now had many more things to say.

“Instead of just confessing to me, you dared me to kiss your boyfriend?”

Wooyoung laughed at that and used his position to pull him into a back hug.

“We didn’t know if you liked us back, we figured that it would be a good enough excuse to see if you were actually interested.”

“Didn’t expect you to run away though,” San added and pressed a light kiss onto Yeosang’s forward.

Somehow out of all the actions that occurred, that’s the one that made him blush the most.

Then San moved to give Wooyoung a kiss on the lips and damn was that doing things to Yeosang.

“I’m still mad at you both, I was going to drink the bar dry after that little stunt you pulled.”

While San looked at him in concern, Wooyoung leaned down to whisper, “Sounds like we have a lot to make up to you.”

Yeosang liked the sound of that.
