Whole

Summary:

No, they didn’t want to break up-that was never their intention. Maybe a break would be good for them.

Notes:

Happy 9th anniversary BTS! Of course I am sad that they will be taking a break, but the boys have done so much for us and they deserve it!

This was meant to be short, and I will not be making a second part. However, if you would like to request a fic, I will definitely try and write it. I mostly write Hobi centric, but any member would be ok.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“We will be going on break.”

Hoseok knew those words were going to come, as the group had discussed it weeks beforehand. He just hated when they announced breaks.

Except, this break was different.

This break wasn’t just to get inspired or spend time with their families. This break would be taken to explore their solo careers.

He didn’t want that.

He wanted them to be whole.

”Don’t worry, Army.” Jimin promised. “We’ll be back. We want to see you all.”

”The best is yet to come. When we return, we’ll show you new versions of ourselves.” Namjoon stated.

”Please await my next mixtape.” Hoseok forced himself to choke out. He didn’t want this.

“Thank you.” Yoongi said, “for always supporting us.”

Jin got up to turn off the live. He looked over to see Jungkook wiping tears out of his eyes.

”Aish, Kookie, don’t cry!” he embraced the maknae.

Hoseok couldn’t hold his tears in anymore. He quickly stood up and sped out of the room.

Sitting down in his studio, he looked at all the things he had inside. All of it was thanks to the fans. All of it were his most precious memories. What if the group realized that going solo may be the best option? What if they never became whole again?

He sat on the couch, picking up a Mang plush. He finally let his tears fall.

Except, a knock on the door broke him out of his thoughts. “Hobi-Hyung?”

He quickly wiped his eyes. “Come in.”

Namjoon stepped into Hope World, a fond look on his face. “I remember the first time I stepped in here. That’s when I realized how big we were becoming.”

”Namjoonie … doesn’t it bother you that going solo may mean we drift apart?”

Namjoon shook his head. “No. I think that going solo will allow us to figure out our identities and what we want to bring out in our music. I think going solo allows us the freedom to pick what energy we can let out in the song and what we mean in our lyrics.”

”But … what if we break up?”

”No. Going solo lets us show our true personalities. Maybe, instead of being j-hope, you can be Hoseok.” Namjoon said, standing up. He patted Hoseok’s shoulder and walked out.

He made his way back to the practice room, where he found the others sitting in a circle. Jin was still holding Jungkook, while the two 95-liners were huddled next to each other.

“Seok, come sit.” Yoongi patted the floor next to him. He obeyed.

Namjoon faced the group. “Look, I know it’s going to be hard, but we can always look to each other for help. I will always want to help any of you.”

Jimin looked to Namjoon. “Me too! Just text me!”

”But-but what if we’re not whole again?” Jungkook asked.

Surprisingly, it was Jin who spoke up. “I think that no matter where we are or what we’re doing, we’ll always make up BTS.”

”Each member contributes to the group. We’ll always be whole.”

“We are bulletproof!” Jimin joked.

We were only seven, but we have you all now

We are together, bulletproof.

We are not seven with you

Notes:

I honestly haven’t watched the live where they announced it yet, so sorry. I just had this idea and wanted to write it. As I don’t know what’ll happen next with the group, I left it a little open-ended.
