Letters

Summary:

Ron may be the prince but that doesnt mean he has enough confidence (or competence) to talk to the beautiful lady at his friends birthday ball, so instead he writes a letter

--
Ron is a prince, far away from the crown, the sixth in row, Hermione is the only child of a family that has just recently gained their status as nobles (They are Count and Countess of Gloucestershire), Harry is the Duke of the west country in which the earldom of the Grangers is located. In case youre wondering, I figured this whole think out and this is the only thing I will ever do with this

Notes:

This was for my friend, now you cna have it too. Please dont rip me apart

Work Text:

“Dear Lady Granger of Gloucestershire,
I couldn't help but notice your presence from across the hall at the royal dance. Your beauty enthralled me and I can't help but wish I had gathered enough of both courage and wits to dare talk to you.

It truly is wishful thinking to believe that no other man has made the attempt to court you yet, though should that be the case I’d like to formally request permission to court you.

You may wonder why I am writing to you directly and not your father first. The simple answer is that I first and foremost want your permission, as fathers are often quick to make a decision for what they believe is theirs.

Should you deny my request to court you I will make no further attempts to gain your favour as I respect you and the decision you will make.

With high regards,
His Royal Highness Prince Ronald Bilius Weasley of Britain”

“To the personal secretary of His Royal Highness Prince Ronald Bilius Weasley of Britain,
I hope this letter finds his Royal Highness in good health.

It was truly a great honour to receive such a letter from his Highness and I would like to thank his Highness for the most kind words used.

Currently I am not being courted and would like to officially invite His Royal Highness to do so.

My father, Hugo Granger Earl of Gloucestershire, has blessed this courtship.

I have the honour to remain your Highnesses obedient servant,
Hermione Granger of Gloucestershire”

“Dear Lady Granger of Gloucestershire,
First and foremost I must thank you for your quick answer, though I must ask you to address me directly in your next letter.

Secondly, I will set up a visit to your residence as soon as possible to not only meet your parents but also meet you in person in order to get to know each other. With this letter there is also one to your father informing him of my wish to visit. I can only hope for a quick response.

The brooch you will have received with this letter is my first gift to you, it can't possibly match your beauty but I am certain it will empathise it greatly. Not that that is necessary.

His Royal Highness Prince Ronald Bilius Weasley of Britain”

“His Royal Highness Prince Ronald Bilius Weasley of Britain,
It is a great honour to be expecting such a high visitor, as it is directly writing to him.

The brooch you sent to me is truly beautiful and I shall cherish it. It seems to be of the highest quality after closer inspection, it is not often that I get to see pure silver.

I shall await your arrival with great anticipation and have the honour to remain your Highnesses obedient servant,
Hermione Granger of Gloucestershire”

“Lady Hermione,
I already miss you more than the stars miss the night in the morning.
Even at this moment I am already planning to return to you as soon as my duties allow me, even if my return to court was a mere 5 days ago, or when you are reading this it will be closer to 9 days

The past two weeks have flown by too quickly and I regret having returned to London. Here the usual rush of the court hasn't stopped and I am once more buried in duties.

Fred and George, have been asking to know more about you, or well, if you can call it asking instead of nagging. My parents, William and Fleur are glad about me having found someone to court and wish to meet you soon. Charles and Percy have been too busy with their obsessions pastimes to really ask about you. Ginny, or Ginevra as you know her, seems really curious, since you are her only a year older than her she already deems to be a better companion than Fleur or Audrey.

Maybe I’ll invite you to visit the palace soon so you can meet them.

Prince Ronald Weasley”

“Prince Ronald,
In the face of such poetic words I can't help but wanting to return them. My desire to see you again has only grown since your departure. I find myself walking through the gardens and turning to my side to talk to you only to see the emptiness.

I am glad your family seems to be in a positive mood about me, I would greatly enjoy meeting them one day. My parents have not stopped talking about you, they’re ecstatic.

I truly hope for you to return soon,
Lady Hermione Granger”

"Lady Hermione,
Having to wait for your letter to be delivered every time is a torture. The days crawl by like a hundred years and every time a courier arrives the excitement in my stomach grows, only to turn into disappointment when it's not your letter.

When my longing gets too much to handle I open my bedside drawer, where I keep all of your messages. They offer me comfort when the world seems dark.

Because of recent development in the north the palace is frantic, my parents are in meetings with advisors all day, William accompanies them most of the time. Percy too, seems terribly busy, meeting with other scholars like himself to discuss solutions. I imagine you'd be quite interested, though the matters just bore me whenever discussed.

I hope to soon see you again,
Prince Ronald"

“Prince Ronald,
I can only reciprocate the way you say to miss me. I wish we could talk again, it’s hard to try and put my thoughts into a letter when I can't seem to be able to organise them when thinking about you. The fact that you keep my letters warms my heart.

Though there is good news, as my father has business in London soon I was able to persuade him into taking me with him. We will arrive in London in 2 weeks. I hope that even on the short notice you will be able to clear your schedule for at least some tea.

I can't imagine how frantic it must be and truly hope that your family will get a break. To be honest, I have tried to research about the events, though it is hard to get a lot of information. I wish I had the ability to help, especially since my father barely leaves his study anymore.

We shall meet again soon,
Lady Hermione Granger”

“Lady Hermione,
Along with this letter you will find an invitation to spend the duration of your trip at the royal palace. When I told my mother about you visiting London she insisted that you stay with us so we could spend time together and that you meet my family.

I have also added some reports on the situation up north for you to read up on it to your heart's desire.

I’m having a hard time writing as I am brimming with excitement.

We’ll see us soon,
Prince Ronald”

----------------

“Dear Ron,
Every second that passes without you pains me. I can still feel the touch of your hand on my cheek and the ghost of your lips on mine. Without you by my side I feel like a fish out of water. I miss everything about you, from seeing you in the early mornings before you have fixed your hair because “Breakfast is more important” to playing chess on late evenings in the library.

It’s boring without you, no matter how many books and reports I have because no one is here to tell me bad jokes while I try to focus.

I never noticed how quiet this place was before I heard your siblings banter in the palace. I noticed I’m all alone over here.

The flowers in the garden are beautiful this time of year. I will dry one and send it with this letter.

I love you,
Hermione”

“Dear Mione,
The flower was beautiful, though it sadly didn't even come close to your beauty. I want to return the gift and along with the books you will find a few of the palace garden flowers. I picked them while the gardeners were looking away, lest I’d have gotten in trouble.

Percy already misses you, he can't stop talking about the excellent points you made in the discussions with him and the scholars while my mother is completely enamoured with you. Ginny complains about being alone once again. The rest miss you as well, though I haven't seen them a lot.

Everytime I walk through the palace I see your curls disappear around the corner before I remember that you are back in Gloucestershire.

I miss your company and your laugh and your presence and everything about you so much.

In love and devotion,
Ron”

“Ron,
I can't wait to spend my life with you, I wish to be by your side until we both return to the earth.

I haven't been sleeping well, my nights are spent wondering and worrying about you. My mother says that’s true star crossed love, and although I never believed in that, maybe I am starting to.

Even though I want to there is nothing more I can say, I feel too much to bring it to paper, believe me I have tried.

Only ever yours,
Hermione”

“Mione,
Come back to the palace? You are missed.

Ginny, my brothers and my parents all miss you, but most importantly I miss you.

I need you,
Ron”

----------------
“Dear Ron,
This didn't come suddenly and our love story didn't start by a meeting in a garden or by running into each other, it started with a letter. A letter from a man who had seen me on a ball and just couldn't muster the courage to talk to me.
Soon enough my days were taken up by writing to you and reading and rereading your letters.
Our meetings were bursts of colour in an otherwise dull world.
So now I stand before you, knowing I’ll never be missing the colours again.
I worship you, and I love you and words will never be able to express just how much.
I am thankful to be your wife and have you as my husband from this day on.”
