Chapter Text
The second Io got up and left the room, luckily leaving behind his tablet, Ryuu jumped into action. He’d been waiting for his overly meticulous friend to abandon the precious device for what felt like hours, and he was just about to give up on his scheme.
Io had been particularly engrossed in his stocks lately, his eyes practically fusing to the screen, and it was getting a little worrying. That’s not to say this hadn’t happened before; in fact, Ryuu was no stranger to the sight. This time, though, he knew simply catching Io off guard, grabbing the tablet, and holding it out of his reach while his legs, numbed from sitting too long, failed to move him far enough to grab it back wasn’t going to work. Io was far too used to this method, and was always alert in case Ryuu tried something. This time, Ryuu would have to try something different.
He had decided to change the tablet’s password for at least a day so Io would have no way of using it, and once he had decided it had been long enough, he would change it back. It was a foolproof plan, really, as long as he didn’t pick something too obvious for the password, and he had been eager to execute it since arriving in the club room that day.
The only problem, now that Ryuu was sitting in the chair inhabited by Io not one minute ago, holding the still warm tablet, was that he didn’t know the current password.
He wanted to smack himself for his stupidity, but he was nowhere near giving up yet.
“I know Io pretty well, right?” he mused. “I can guess his password if I try.”
About 20 guesses later, he found himself out of ideas and almost out of time.
Ryuu groaned in defeat. It was a wonder Io hadn’t burst into the room already, desperate to get back to his beloved stocks, and Ryuu swore he could hear the sound of walking outside the door. Finding himself out of motivation and feeling distinctly disappointed, Ryuu decided to try one last-ditch attempt at breaking in, a bizarre guess that seemed more like a joke than anything.
“RyuuZaou” was tapped into the tablet with slightly awkward fingers, the namesake fumbling with the buttons as he stifled a giggle at the thought of his slightly cynical best friend being so sappy. Really, it would have been more reminiscent of a lovesick schoolboy with hearts in his eyes than his Io, and no matter how close they were, he doubted he was so important as to warrant being the password to Io’s most cherished tablet. He imagined Io would have to be head over heels in love for him to even think of making his password someone’s name.
He hit enter and let a little laugh slip, but it was stopped almost instantly as the screen blinked and laid out the home page, displaying many money-related apps that confirmed this was indeed Io’s tablet.
"Oh."
