Jinx cannot stand the idea of seeing one particular blonde girl at the college party she is attending. Of course, by her luck, Lux shows up just as a game of 'one minute in heaven' is starting.

Or

Day 3 of Lightcannon Week! Prompt: First Kiss

Notes:

This one is pretty short, but I swear it's super cute :)

Work Text:

Jinx has never been to a party so insane. She knew that college parties were supposed to be a lot better than highschool ones, with the people having their own houses, legal alcohol, a lot more random drugs and less cliches, but still. Jinx walked into the sorority house bouncing on her toes. She was extremely excited. She just hoped that she wouldn’t run into one, specific, sorority girl. Of course, this specific girl was in this exact sorority. But, what was the likelihood, right? This one blonde girl was some sort of athlete, or something. Jinx pretended not to have stalked her a little too much. She pretended that she didn’t know what exact number the girl had on her hockey jersey.

This random blonde athletic girl that Jinx definitely did not care about wouldn’t be at this party. It was a Thursday night. People had classes tomorrow. That one girl had practice early in the morning. Not like Jinx knew that or anything, she just assumed, definitely. So, that one blonde girl would probably be hiding in her room or staying at a friend’s dorm or something. Jinx was free to party here all she wanted. Stress free!

She wandered around a little bit, mapping out the house. It made her more comfortable to know all of the exits and ins-and-outs. No blonde girl spotted. She shifted around bodies and her ears were flooded with loud and obnoxious music. But, she liked it. Kept all the thoughts away. The louder the music the quieter her brain. She found the kitchen, poured herself something that she wasn’t sure what it was, and drank it. Sour, maybe? No. Nail-polish-like. Probably vodka. But for some reason it was pink.

As the party raged on, Jinx relaxed. She started dancing, roaming around the house blindly and giggling to herself. She even decided to play drinking games with strangers. Round after round of beer pong led to her a little more than tipsy. It was too fun to stop, though. The world was spinning in a soft way that made her feel hugged.

“Yo!” Some random guy shouted from atop of the staircase in the house. “Spin the bottle is about to start up here! Anyone can play!” The man’s voice was deep and toned in a strange way. Not unlike boys in stupid highschool TV shows that Jinx hated.

Nonetheless, she went up the stairs. Voices and giggling led her to one of the house’s bedrooms. A circle of about eight people were all huddled together, crisscrossed on the floor. Jinx felt electric as she sat down in one of the free spots, shouldering another girl. She felt excited and warm and a little insane, maybe. She would never admit it to anyone. No, she wouldn’t. But, the truth was, she was so nervous because she had never kissed anyone before. She looked around the group. Everyone was semi-attractive. Didn’t really matter to Jinx anyway. That wasn’t the point of this game.

Was she going to kiss someone? Was it going to feel good? Was it going to be weird? Who knows! Maybe she won’t get picked! Jinx giggled to herself and rocked slightly where she sat.

Four rounds went by. It was uneventful for Jinx. She was bored out of her goddamn mind. Oh, some guy spinned the bottle, it landed on some hot girl in a crop top. Oh no! She was so embarrassed, like they all were. They would awkwardly crawl in the center of the circle and then peck each other on the lips. Great. Then, if a guy spun it and it landed on another guy, and one of them wasn’t into that, it would be a sort of weird interaction. They would decide not to kiss, because it would be weird. But, well, Jinx started chanting “KISS, KISS, KISS!”, and everyone else went along with it. And it happened. The two men awkwardly smooched. That was slightly more interesting, but not enough.

“Ya know what we should do instead?” Jinx asked the group. Her words were slightly slurred. She was still relatively clear-headed, though. She didn’t like to be off the rails drunk. That made her scared.

“What?” The group collectively asked. One guy would ask, then a girl, then more voices. Whatever.

“We should do that one game where you go into the closet!” Jinx rocked a little more intensely. “Except, not for seven minutes, that’s too boring. We don’t want anyone to be getting too much, right? So, what about, like, one minute.” Jinx was smiling, ear-to-ear, excited. This would be more interesting.

The group looked around at each other. They all shrugged.

“Sure,” One girl said. She turned to face the doorway at the sound of some footsteps and started talking to someone. “Oh! Come join us! You’ll have fun!”

“What’re you guys playing?” The woman asked. She slowly entered the room.

Long blonde hair flooded Jinx’s vision as everything around her momentarily disappeared and all she could see was a tall, buff, specific woman. Lux. It was Lux. The one person that couldn’t be at this party. The one person that could not play this game with her. The one person that needed to leave and, oh god, Jinx felt her face heat up.

Lux didn’t drink. She needed to take care of her body. She didn’t have time to do parties. But, her brother practically begged her to relax a little. So, she went to the party that her own sorority was throwing. She wasn’t going to get any sleep that night, anyway. She didn’t have anywhere to stay except her room in the house. And, if it wasn’t taken by some strangers, then it was way too loud to fall asleep in.

“We’re playing one minute in heaven!” The girl stated.

“Oh,” Lux sighed. She wasn’t going to be joining, then. She was saving herself. Or, at least, that’s what she said to her brother and her mother and her father and all of her friends.

“Come on!” The girl grabbed Lux’s wrist and yanked her down. “It’ll be fun! Relax a little, Lux!”

As Lux crossed her legs on the floor, she looked in front of her. Oh gods. It was her. Long blue hair in two separate braids fell down her small frame. She had tattoos all over her side and for some reason wore boots inside of a sorority house. She was staring back at Lux. They were staring at each other. Why were they staring? Lux ripped her eyes back to the rug she was sitting on.

“So, you’re gonna play! Just for you, Lux, we will make it your turn to spin the bottle to get your one minute in heaven!” A man exclaimed from somewhere across her in the circle.

Lux stared at the bottle. She hoped that if she stared at it hard enough it would explode and end this madness. “Okay…”

S he took the glass in her hand. She thought, for a moment, that maybe she could just get up and leave. She felt eyes on her. Everyone in the circle was staring. Did they all know that Lux had never even kissed anyone? Were they all anticipating it? Why was Jinx here?

She spun it. Everyone in the circle, except for Lux and Jinx, were excitedly watching. Lux glanced up at Jinx. She was staring at the bottle but in a different way. She stared at it like her eyes were lasers and she was destroying it from inside her head. She was quiet, unmoving. Lux almost never saw her like that. Usually, Jinx was always running around or rocking or messing with her nails or her braids.

Jinx’s jaw dropped and her eyes widened. Suddenly, Jinx wasn’t looking at the bottle anymore. She was looking at Lux. Instinctively, Lux looked down and the bottle was pointing directly at Jinx.

Before Lux could act, someone from the circle stood up and started peeling Jinx off of her feet. Lux felt another person try to lift her up from behind. “Alright! No take backs! You two are going in the closet!”

It was almost like Lux went on autopilot. Because, she was ushered into the closet like she wasn’t a giant, muscley woman that could’ve gotten her way out of anything imaginable. Because, the door was closing and the closet was awfully small. Because Jinx was staring up at her. Because, suddenly, it was almost pitch black except for the faint light that came out from the crack under the door. And, after all of that, Lux just let it happen.

And, in an instant, Lux’s brain had to catch up to her body. She had to realize that she was standing incredibly close to Jinx. To Jinx out of all people. She had to doubt herself. It felt warm in the closet. It felt electric. It felt like Jinx’s eyes were staring into Lux’s soul.

“Uh,” Lux said, awkwardly. She didn’t want to force anything on her. Her breath smelled a little bit like vodka. She wasn’t sure if Jinx was drunk or not.

“When we leave this closet, we can pretend like nothing happened, right?” Jinx asked. Her voice sounded almost desperate.

“Yeah? I guess. Sure.” Lux was confused. So confused. Her eyes were adjusting to the darkness and she started to see more clearly. Jinx was small. She was, indeed, looking at her. Her chest was rising and falling rather quickly.

Lux watched as Jinx lifted her hand and cupped Lux’s cheek. It was a shock. Lux almost flinched back. It was so soft. Lux didn’t know that Jinx was capable of such a soft touch. Jinx brought her hand down, and Lux’s face followed. She didn’t want Jinx’s hand to leave.

Jinx stuttered. It was strange to see her looking so vulnerable. “You tell me to stop if you want to.”

“I will,” Lux admitted. She said nothing more and continued to follow Jinx’s hand.

Their noses were almost touching, now. Lux was leaning down and Jinx was craning up. She could feel Jinx’s breath against her lips. It felt hot. She tentatively placed a hand on Jinx’s waist and she flinched at the touch. Lux tried to pull away, but she wasn’t quick enough.

Jinx moved with intent and passion and Lux found herself helplessly trapped in a kiss. It was short, but gods, was it sweet. Jinx’s lips were softer than she could’ve imagined and they were big, too. Her nails dug into Lux’s cheek, just a little bit, telling her not to back away. Lux’s hand gravitated back towards Jinx’s waist, and it touched her there and it stayed. Lux felt Jinx put weight into her hand. She liked it, she must’ve.

The door of the closet swung open and light and cool air flooded the closet. “All done!” A man proclaimed.

Jinx squeaked and spun around and suddenly Jinx’s aura was giving off violence and anger.

Lux stood, for a moment, still leaning down for nothing. She quickly stood up straight and stared at the man. She was breathing hard. Her face was flushed. It was nothing. It was, really, nothing. It was just a kiss. But, it was her first. And, it was with Jinx. Oh gods. She kissed Jinx. Didn’t Jinx mention something about pretending this never happened? Lux wanted anything but that. She wanted to kiss her again. Not just one more time. Infinitely many more times.

“Sorry to burst your bubble! But, we got more people in line for their one minute,” The man looked at Jinx and slouched a little deeper. As if he was an animal submitting to a much larger, stronger, more dangerous animal. Except, Jinx was tiny.

Jinx turned and looked up at Lux. That look. Lux couldn’t place anything specific behind it in her brain. Her pale face was full of pink. She was breathing just as hard as Lux was. She made eye contact and looked away almost as quickly. Jinx turned, once more, and stomped out of the closet and out of the room.

Lux, now alone, slowly walked out. Her shoulder slumped and she almost felt like she was doing a walk of shame. Except, inside, she was anything but shameful. She was excited and her heart was pounding in her chest. Now, all she had to do was find Jinx again and get her to stay. Maybe convince her to not pretend this didn’t happen. That would be her plan. She needed to feel like that again. She wanted nothing more than to kiss and hold Jinx for a second time.
