Chapter 1: crazy train

Chapter Text

All aboard!

Ay ay ay!

It was the first time Oliver had been on a train. He was moving to Hawkins because his parents decided to give him up and hand him over to his aunt and uncle. He would be living with his cousins, Nancy and Mike.

Meanwhile with Eddie, he and his friends had just come back from a camping trip that he totally didn't ruin by being high as shit. Eddie was a huge fan of rock and metal music, so it was only natural that he would be blasting Crazy Train. You know, the one by Ozzy Osbourne.

Oliver had headphones connected to his phone, and he was listening to Iron Man by Black Sabbath. He loved hard rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, and death metal. It wasn't hard to see how he would immediately notice Eddie and his friends playing Crazy Train and annoying everybody by singing along.

"Hey, Eddie, look over there." Dustin whispered to him, pointing to Oliver. "What do you think he's listening to?"

"Probably pop or some shit. That's what everyone does." Eddie rolled his eyes until Oliver looked him dead in the eyes, headphones now out of his ears, and began singing along to Crazy Train. There was no doubt that he looked happy with the song.

"Damn." Eddie did his signature wobbly twirl. "Nevermind. I'm talking to him." And with that, he walked right up and took a seat next to him, leaning over to see what he was listening to.

"You like Black Sabbath?" He asked, and the boy sweetly turned to him and nodded his head. "I love Black Sabbath! I like Computer God a lot, but I understand it may not be everyone's favorite because they like the original stuff."

"Yeah? Where you comin' from?" Eddie asked. "Oh, from up in Toronto. I'm gonna live with my aunt and uncle for a while because my parents... Well, that don't want me anymore." He sighed.

"Yeah? You got any cousins?" Eddie tilted his head. "Yep! Nancy and Mike Wheeler." Eddie was surprised. "No way, I know Mike." Now it was Oliver's turn to look surprised. "You do?"

"Yep, he plays in my DnD campaign." "No way, you play DnD? Dungeon Master, I take it?" Oliver tilted his head, and Eddie smiled. "Yeah. I DM a lot, and it's not bad." He chuckled.

"Oh, I'd never want to DM. I like making and playing as characters, and I could never give that up." Eddie laughed at that. "Well, we got a perfect match here then, huh? We're nearing the end of our campaign, maybe you'd like to join the next one? If I even host another, that is."

Oliver smiled. "Of course."
