Chapter Text
It's summer once again, Kel was watching TV when he overheard his mother on the phone talking to an obvious someone about Sunny coming over. He immediately turned off the television and walked over.
"Is that all you need? Okay, okay. I'm going to prepare now!" ... "Oh no no no! I am making a feast and you won't stop me!" His mother grinned. "Yes, yes, whatever you say. See you tomorrow!"
"Tomorrow?" Kel asked.
"Yes! Your friend Sunny is coming over for the summer!"
"R-Really?" Kel beamed.
"It was Sunny's request to come here, his mother was surprised at the urgent request, it's something he hasn't done before."
A pair of footsteps walked out of the door.
"You hear that Hero? Sunny's coming over!" his mom said cheerfully. Kel nodded in agreement.
"Wha-What?" Hero blinked. He was still quite uncomfortable with Sunny, but he'll welcome the young boy back into his life all the same, but... "When?"
"Tomorrow." Kel answers. "We need to get ready!"
"So soon?"
"Come on, Hero! Sunny hasn't been with us for a year now! And he rarely talks with us on the phone!"
"I know, but this is rather... sudden. Was it his mother's plan?"
"Nope, Sunny was the one who nagged his mom to come."
"Is that so..." Hero mumbles with his eyebrows raised.
"Yeah! So we gotta get ready now!"
"They're here!"
A car halts in front of their house, and out comes Sunny. He looked around the area for something until his mom gestured him to the door.
Something about him... felt odd. He had a critical expression on his face, not the usual calm neutral one; it was like he didn't come to Faraway Town for a reunion with his friends. The way he acted was also different from what Hero remembered.
As they watched Sunny, who was being dragged up towards the door by his mother, Hero turned to Kel.
"He looks strange..." he said slowly.
"Huh?"
"Sunny. Did you notice how odd he’s acting? Not just how he looked, but he's also behaving strangely."
Kel looked at him with confusion. "What do you mean weirdly? I don't notice anything weird."
Hero sighed. "Later." He says as he pats Kel's shoulder when the door opens.
"Hey Sunny!" Kel greets immediately, "It's been so long! How have you been doing?"
"I'm alright." Sunny curtly responds and reaches out for a handshake to Kel's confusion. He gazes at the hand for a bit before shaking it.
"Man, what's up with you? You started a business or something?"
"N-No... not really..." Sunny responds, aware of his error.
"Anyways, let's go meet the others! Then we'll go to HOBBEEZ, and maybe even eat at Gino's!" Kel exclaimed happily. Sunny looked confused for a moment before nodding.
"My travel has been successful. I have reached my target destination."
A large robotic figure stands in the middle of a field. He wears a bowler hat and his dark cloak sways in the wind giving out glimpses of the grotesque appearance of his machinery, in his hands is a book of Friedrich Nietzche's 'Beyond Good and Evil: Prelude to a Philosophy of the Future'
"The year is 200X... approximately a century before the Golden Age." The machine pauses and looks around. "Humanity has no chance."
