Work Text:
One day.
How could anything go so bad in just one day?
Alador just started to mend his relationship with his children, he just started to find fun in doing his work. He even got to become aquatinted with Luz, the human, his daughters girlfriend. And now he was fighting abomin-bots, the ones he created, while slowly being drained of his magic by the Day of Unity.
He drew a small wavering spell circle to blast a abomination bot away, only to be thrown off guard by another one. His legs buckled under the weight of his own body, not that it didn’t always do that. But the spell was harboring him from doing much.
He had managed to flee into the woods by this point, dipping into trees to regain himself. Alador was practically crawling in pain.
“That damned draining spells still doing its job I see.” He thought to himself, while looking at the roots of yellow magic in his arm. Another abomin - bot charged for him, clawing into a tree and nearly tearing it from its roots, Alador ducked down covering his eyes from debris.
He collapsed to his side and crawled deeper into the woods, trying to ignore the growing pain all over him. He reached a small ditch after some time, and allowed himself to slide into it, he could hear the ‘wwrrr’ from the bots outside slowly fade away.
Alador let out a heavy breath, curled up in pain from the draining spell. He clawed his way halfway out of the ditch and rested there as the draining spell continued.
“Titan save me.” Alador muttered struggling to keep his eyes open.
He layed there for a few minutes before hearing a clanking noise. A abomination bot was back, stalking towards Alador, seemingly scanning him.
Alador felt the hair on him prickle in terror as the bot lurched over, he bared his fangs impulsively, apparently a mistake, because in response the bot lurched up eyes flashing red as it lifted its arm up and morphed it into a pickaxe.
“Shit..” Alador muttered, glaring at the bot.
He tried to lift himself up but stumbled back down into the dirt, he looked up and saw the bot prepare to attack. Alador coiled into himself and braced for a quick death.
But something else happened.
A collage of loud noises filled the air, beating wings, robotic shifting, screeches and metal being ripped apart. Alador kept his eyes slammed shut through it all.
Seemingly hours ran by and Alador writhed in irritation and pain from all the excessive sound. He tried to see though his teary eyes but just recoiled in fear at every loud sound. A few more minutes passed before the noise finally stopped.
“Hello? Are you alright?”
Alador slowly opened his blurry eyes. He could barely make out a white blob with a expression of worry on it. He raised a hand to wipe his eyes but hissed in pain.
“Relax yourself. You shouldn’t be moving while you’re under..whatever this curse is.”
Alador furrowed his brows as if to respond.
“I’ll fly you somewhere safe. Hopefully the spell will have worn down by then. Brace yourself, I’ll be as gentle as possible.”
Alador laid limp on the ground, and suddenly felt himself get lofted into the air, the air suddenly buzzing in his ears instead of being still. He felt himself crying as he rose above the trees. He looked up towards the sky of the Boiling Isles.
Everything was in disarray, the lines of magic that drifted towards the sky, the wails of younger witches who hadn’t passed out from the spell. How old my cold the air felt now.
Alador felt his throat hitch, he hacked painfully, feeling a odd knob in his throat. Suddenly the buzz of air shifted into whooshing as him and his unnamed rescuer landed. Not that he was able to see that. Cause he had passed out too.

Bat Queen laid the brown haired man on a small mossy rock, praying to the Titan he woke up soon.
She felt the patter of other stray palisman on the ground near her. A small- yet bulky marbled orange cat waddled up to Alador’s rock, threatening to jump on him if Bat Queen hadn’t brushed him back so gently with her claw.
“Not so close Rusty, I know you get curious when a witch comes near, but I believe this one needs the space to rest.” Bat Queen explained, gesturing towards the lines of fleeting magic on Alador’s arm.
Rusty seemed to understand the situation, but continued to stay close to Alador and Bat Queen. Sitting near Bat Queen as she watched the magic stream lit horizon in growing terror.
Hours ran by before the streams slowly faded, Bat Queen glanced over to Alador’s rock at the sound of hacking.
Alador had awaken with a cough, laying on his side as he slowly tried to stand on his own two feet. Only to stumble back onto the rock.
“Stay put! You’ll fall over you try to stand now.” Bat Queen ordered, trotting over to Alador quickly.
The second she reached him Alador tensed up, forming a weak and barely intimidating snarl. Bat Queen simply chuckled.
“Relax, I mean no harm.” Bat Queen explained, “I saw you in the woods, you were nearly killed by a abomination I believe.”
Alador nodded. Then turned his head at the sound of a “mrrp”.
Rusty trotted over to Alador, and jumped onto the rock beside him. Staring at him with dark hazel eyes.
“That’s Rusty, don’t mind him, he’s quite curious when witches pop up.” Bat Queen said.
Alador stared at Rusty for a few moments, then a surge of expression flooded across his face.
“AMITY!”
Alador nearly leapt off of the rock he was resting on, stumbling over his own feet and staggering to stand before Bat Queen lifted him back to the rock. Both of them trashing to get there.
“Calm down! You’ll kill yourself if you keep trying to run off without resting.” Bat Queen scolded, “You said, Amity right? Amity Blight?”
“You know Amity?” Alador asked, glancing at Rusty who was sitting near him on the rock.
“Yes, I gave her, her palisman. Ghost, the white cat.” Bat Queen explained.
“…Oh Amity..” Alador said painfully.
“Has something happened?” Bat Queen asked, “outside of the whole Day of Unity thing?”
“The- The Day of Unity is nothing like what we thought it was…and- and Amity’s..Amity..” Alador choked on his own words, curling into himself from sorrow.
Bat Queen simply wrapped her wings around him, as Rusty crawled into his lap and leaned onto his chest.
“Take your time to breathe. Explain what you can.” Bat Queen said gently. Rusty purred into Alador as if to confirm Alador’s safety.
Alador just sat there and cried.
