In Hell I'll Be In Good Company

Summary:

Jean Grey had burned herself into his soul, and Peter Maximoff was apt to worship at her feet.

Work Text:

Her eyes burned at him, the raw feeling of power exciting as Peter felt his being melting into Jean’s. She might have hated him for it, but oh, how he loved it, bringing her many gifts and sacrifices just so that she might stay a bit longer. That golden glow in her eyes, the veins that snaked around her forehead…they all made him shiver with excitement. Almost as much excitement as killing someone did, though Jean made him feel whole, not just alive.

Little singed wisps of hair floated on the breeze, the scent of blood strong as his headphones were placed on–it was always better to have music when one was working. Each stroke of the knife left an arc of blood against the blank canvas, the cries of his victims lost to the sultry sounds of ZZ Top blasting into his eardrums. Once he was finished with them, he’d toss the bodies aside, using their hair as fuel to stoke the flames in his heart–his beautiful, undying Jean, her hands clasped together in a prayer of madness.

Every ounce of blood that wasn’t on the walls was in a tub filled just for her, dripping with iron that bubbled like the lava lamps he’d once been so fond of. It really was a sight to behold, the very nature of Phoenix rising to meet his whims. She graced him with her own music, though, soft cries in the night as her talons wrought his flesh from his bones, before making him whole again.

Tonight was special, the night of their rebirth, their rebranding. No more worrying about Xavier or Magneto, or any of the classmates who had tried to stand in their way. This was their home now, the skulls of Jean’s victims floating with candles atop them, leading Peter to dinner; their anniversary was a special one, and he’d brought her only the best–the very people who had caused her grief in the first place. Peter only hoped she’d let him stay long enough to watch her work, the beauty of her skill entrancing to his eyes.

“Sit, Peter.” Those golden eyes gleamed into his soul, and he did as he was asked, leaving his tools by the door. “What did you bring me this time?”

“The prettiest jewels in the collection, Jean.” His hand held out a satchel, filled to the brim with jewelry made of gold and fire opals that matched her flaming hair. Jean was a sight to behold as she put them on, seeming even more alight than she had previously been. “They suit you. And I’ve brought one more present for you.”

With a flourish, he stood, yanking the stained silk wrapping covering her gift–a former classmate, bound and gagged, eyes staring wide at the two of them. “I caught them trying to sneak in, to plant something left behind by the Professor. Seems he doesn’t like the redecorating we did.”

“Ah, it’s wonderful. A perfect set of gifts for our anniversary.” Twisting her hand, the pale specimen writhed in Jean’s grasp, lifted from the table just as she went to present Peter with a kiss on the cheek. “I’m going to go play for a bit, but you’re welcome to join me.” Jean’s mouth curved wickedly, and Peter followed behind her, the doors shutting behind them with a bang.

It would be the perfect start to the evening, and then they’d continue their rampage on those who deemed them lesser. But first, celebrations were in order, and Peter intended to make them last for as long as he could.
