Hurt or Hug

Summary:

Ekko wasn't present at their last fight and Jinx decides to take revenge by picking a fight with him personally at his home. Unfortunately he isn't home and boredom is shit when you're tired.

Notes:

Okay, so I wrote this in order to procrastinate and I have no idea if it's any good. English is not my first language and I never wrote a fanfiction before so I apologize in advance for ... well everything or anything that you might have to read with your beautiful eyes.

This was based on a prompt from the tb Discord Server, it contains some spoilers tho, so I'll put it in the end notes, I guess (I literally have no idea what I'm doing):

However, I thought it was cute, so have fun!

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

That. Was. It! The Boy Savior fucked up for real this time.

She thought about how to seek her revenge carefully. She definitely would have to use the next time they saw each other wisely. The question now was: how to punish him?

Shoot him! Shoot him!

Jinx shook her head and murmured a “No.” Shooting him wouldn’t do. He’d be dead and couldn’t learn his lesson that way. No, no, no. It was bad. Maybe she should blow up this stupid tree of his, but then she had to be careful not to kill him along with his new buddies and no – also not practical. An injury maybe? Sounded good enough for her. Just something for him to remember her by for a couple weeks or so.

Okay, she would have to initiate a fight in order to injure him – bad enough to make him pay, but not deadly.

All she had to do now, was to wait for an encounter.

Jinx stared at the abyss below her and realized, she couldn’t wait and who was to say he’d even show up the next time. The stupid boy savior didn’t even grace her with his presence today!

She still couldn’t believe he missed their fight. He was supposed to be there!

“Well, if he’s not coming to me, I’ll just come to him!”, she decided angrily and stomped over to her table to grab Zapper and Pow-Pow. Should she bring some grenades too? Just in case. Jinx didn’t have to use them, but it was simply nice to know she had options.

One last check: She had a plan, she had weapons, she had a score to settle. Seemed like she was all set and ready to go.

It was hilariously easy to get into their stupidly beautiful base. She really thought they had a better guarding system, but apparently she was wrong.

When she made it to Ekkos room (because of course she knew which one was his – no, she is not a stalker, she just found out for … simple research purposes), she looked around but no Boy Savior in sight.

“Great. First he doesn’t show up to the fight and now he can’t even show up in his room”, she complained while her ghosts laughed at her. But jokes was on them. Ekko had to sleep eventually – she could wait a little. If she had the reward of his unfairly beautiful face painted in horror, realizing Jinx knew where his precious base was, plus being able to punish him, she would wait however long it would take him to show up.

Can’t be that long anyway, right? What could he possibly have to do here?

Boredom struck quickly however and she decided to look around a bit. His room wasn’t big – barely enough space to put a bed and a closet in. It made her wonder where he worked then. Did he have another room designated to nothing but his experiments?

Jinx felt a weird urge to ask him about it or to walk right out the door and search for it herself. Maybe he was there currently. Maybe she could sneak up on him and hug him from behind like she did before … everything.

She shook her head, trying to get rid of these thoughts and trying to get rid of the taunts of her ghosts. She was NOT Powder. She was Jinx and she was here on a mission!

‘Hurt’ and ‘Hug’ may sound similar if you pronounce it weird enough, but she could do only one of them and he still needed to pay for ignoring her and not coming to their fight. Priorities!

The problem was only that she had been running on pure adrenaline and anger until now. Now with the wait and her boredom, it started to fade away and it left her tired. Suddenly, she hated Ekkos room. It was plain. Boring. How was she supposed to stay awake without a distraction?

The answer was: she didn’t. There was something about his room that calmed her and she soon found herself trying to find a comfortable position on the bed. A bed that was so much better than her own.

Ekko gave a final wave to Scar as he descended to his room. Walking up the stairs, he sighed. Apparently the fight with Jinx that morning had been a disaster. According to the survivors, she had seemed more angry than usual, more determined to spill blood. His attempt at damage control was a lost cause because how does one fix death? There wasn’t anything he could do, except for feeling guilty. Maybe, if he had been there, he could have prevented their fate. Scar could have done the supply business just as well. But as much as Ekko didn’t want to admit it, he just didn’t want to see Jinx today. He had a feeling she’d be there and his avoidance has doomed his people.

His gaze found the mural and he smiled sadly as he stared at one blue-haired person in particular. It seemed like there really wasn’t any hope for Jinx left.

He managed to turn his head away from the mural and kept walking to his room.

Tired as he was, he didn’t pay much attention to anything, so he didn’t notice anything weird when he stepped into the room. With his eyes already adjusted to the darkness, he also didn’t turn on a light and planned to simply change and get to bed. The quicker the better because now, this close to actual sleep, he realized just how exhausted he really was.

What eventually stopped him in his tracks was a soft sound as if someone was … snoring?

He turned away from his closet and took a closer look at his bed. The silhouette only slowly started to make sense, but the person lying in his bed was Jinx.

Somehow he was sure he should have a way more panicked reaction to this – that was the person who killed a bunch of his friends and works for his enemy after all – but the only question that came to mind was: Does he wake her?

If he did, he would have to think about the questions that should be more important to him right now. The downside would be that he’d sacrifice his sleep. And considering her own dark circles under the eyes, it was obviously something they both craved.

“What the heck?”, he whispered tiredly and started with putting her weapons on the other side of the bed – she wouldn’t be able to reach them easily that way, just in case she wanted to kill him. Ekko might be tired but he still had some working braincells left.

He then carefully tucked her in and went to sleep next to her. And honestly, if she really wanted to make trouble, she could still do that in the morning, when they were at an equal state of consciousness.

Jinx couldn’t tell what woke her. It was still dark outside and she was pretty comfortable, so she closed her eyes again.

It took her a full minute to figure out what was wrong with that picture. She was living in a cave, it was always dark, so why could she tell that it was the actual darkness of night? And ‘pretty comfortable’? Excuse her, what?

She opened her eyes again, confused. A feeling that only deepened when she realized there was someone next to her. Right now, she was staring at their chest, so she moved her head to see the face and … to say she was surprised to see Ekko would be an understatement. Especially because she now also noticed, his arms were holding her close.

What the fuck happened?

Jinx took a deep breath and tried to remember. She was mad at him for ignoring her, so she went to his room to punish him and- oh no. She fell asleep. Okay, okay, nobody panic, she could still save this situation!

She pushed the question of why the Boy Savior randomly decided to cuddle with her aside and focused on what she could do. Her weapons were nowhere to be seen and his arms around her – as nice and warm as they might have been – literally didn’t leave a lot of room for her. But, if she was careful, she could slip out, find her weapons and still fight him. Or even better! If he stayed asleep she could kidnap him and have some real fun. A little torture, a couple mindgames – the possibilities were endless!

Or, of course, she could stay a bit. Jinx had to admit it was clearly more comfortable and warm than her own bed and she now also realized she hasn't heard a single annoying voice since she had woken up.

She hasn’t slept that well in … well let’s just not finish that thought.

Logically speaking, it would be smarter to get a little advantage anyway. With sleep comes better brain functionality and stamina and then she could still punish him in their next fight.

Yep. Sounded totally reasonable to her.

The fact that she nuzzled closer to him and even hugged him back was of course only for the sake of optimizing comfort in order to get better sleep and with that said advantage. Nothing more. Definitely no feelings involved.

Notes:

Again, if something is totally bad, I am sorry.

And here's the prompt:
#821
Ekko wasnt present the last time Jinx fought with the firelights so the next day she sneaks into his bedroom and waits for him to come back from whatever firelight business he has to pick a fight with him herself
(she has weird ways of craving his attention)
Only when Ekko returns to his room, he found her snoozing on his bed, fell asleep while waiting. Poor girl's exhausted. He sighs, properly tucks her in, and slides right next to her.
Jinx did not expect waking up to ekko's sleeping face with his arms cuddling her close. He's so vulnerable now and its perfect for her to kidnap or kill him, but his arms are so warm and she feels so safe in them. She nestles her face in his neck and goes back to sleep.
