Jason lay awake tonight, on his side with his arm propping up his head, as he gazed down at Sam who was curled right into the curve of his body as he served as the big spoon to her little spoon.

Today had been a particularly fantastic day. In fact, it was one of the best days of his whole life. That morning a blood test with the doctor had confirmed what they'd already been told by the at home tests… they were pregnant.

Well, actually, he shouldn't put it like that since when he had earlier today, he'd gotten a very impassioned lecture from Sam correcting him that while they were both having a baby, they were not both pregnant. She was pregnant and would be experiencing all of the highs and lows that came with it.

Jason put his hand on her stomach and an actual giddy sensation flitted through him as it hit him that his baby was inside of her right underneath his hand. On instinct or maybe a reflex, he bent his head down and placed a soft kiss on the exposed skin on the top of her shoulder.

He rested his chin there after and laid his head next to hers, cuddling into her more, and just before he was going to give into his increasingly heavy eyelids, he moved to kiss a little further down her shoulder when his lips touched the scar.

It was the scar that Sam had told him about during the summer and told him the harrowing story about not only how she got it or how she'd nearly been blown to smithereens but that his son had been run over by a car, too.

Jason hadn't really stopped thinking about it since Sam told him. It was especially on his mind whenever he was forced to see or interact with Elizabeth. Since he'd returned, the fact that she was in love with and now married to Franco put a strain on their friendship.

However, he thought that they were willing to cooperate when it came to their son but he was questioning that as well since that was information he had a right to know. Although, a part of him wondered if the reason why she didn't tell him was because it was a result of her failed attempt to steal him from Sam.

Once upon a time, Jason wouldn't have believed Elizabeth capable of perpetrating a deception that elaborate and deliberate. All of his assumptions of what Elizabeth was capable of doing were obliterated when she'd confessed to lying to both he and Sam to trick them into signing the divorce papers and switching the DNA results.

Then when he'd pushed her for an explanation Elizabeth had basically put it all on Sam; it was her fault because she'd watched Jake get kidnapped, it was Sam's fault for not saying something for weeks, it was Sam's fault that Jason married her and not Elizabeth, and if Elizabeth did not get to be with Jason then she was going to make sure that he and Sam didn't get be with each other, either.

So, although, Sam hadn't gone into details… she had said that Elizabeth had blamed Sam for "Jason" or the man they believed was him, for leaving her. Jason could absolutely, fully believe that Sam had been made into the bad guy of the situation by Elizabeth's warped interpretation of things.

As Jason finally felt sleep start to take him over, he resolved to find out what had gone on in 2015, and confront Elizabeth over her withholding vital info of events that happened to two people that meant more to him than life itself.

The very next day, Sam had had to go to her new office. McCall and Jackal PI was up and running again in full steam especially now that Spinelli had moved back to Port Charles. It had not been the only new development in their lives, since Ellie had decided to stay back in Portland, Spinelli and Maxie had been spending quite a lot of time together.

The kids were off to school, so he had called Elizabeth over and as he set two cups of coffee on the table, there was a knock on the door. Jason walked to the door and then opened it to a rather chipper, Elizabeth.

"Hey Jason, what was so urgent that we needed to talk?" She asked as he motioned for her to enter the apartment.

"I made us some coffee. I'm sorry but I've forgotten how you take it. So there is cream, sugar, and some of this flavored crap that Sam likes that I frankly can't stand." Jason said, wanting to disarm her.

It worked because she laughed at his joke before grabbing the milk and sugar to add to her cup then brought it to her lips. She took a long sip before lowering her cup and giving him an inquisitive look, "So what's up?"

"What's up is that day in the jail, the first time we talked in five years, you left out quite a few details about the whole situation where you tried to steal the man you believed was me from my wife then as I understand it, you had the nerve to blame her for what you had done which led to her almost being blown up and our son, actually being run over in the middle of the night because he thought he'd killed Sam."

Elizabeth was so stunned that her coffee cup actually spilled a little onto her jeans causing her yelp in surprise and from the heat of the liquid. She quickly rubbed the spot where the coffee had stained then put the cup on the coffee table.

"Jason, I don't know where you're getting you're information but—"

"I'm getting it from my wife, Sam."

Elizabeth furrowed her brows, "What do you mean your wife?"

"Well, not that it's any of your business but Sam and I got remarried. It was just the two of us and our witness, Spinelli, at the courthouse about three weeks ago. We didn't see the need to have a big party. Frankly, we didn't want anyone but our closest, most trusted friends and family to know especially since the last time we got married in a big party, your husband saw fit to immediately ruin our happiness."

Elizabeth huffed, "That's not fair, you know that he was sick."

"No, Elizabeth, I don't know that and I don't believe it but you know what's really not fair, you not telling me that our son nearly died before I even knew he was alive, again. You say that I have every right to be in his life but that means, I also have a right to know every single thing that happened when I was gone or do you not tell me because the reason he thought he killed Sam is due to the fact that he was blaming her for "me" leaving and was taking after you by blaming everything on Sam."

Elizabeth was slack jawed, "You forgot to mention the real reason why he had to go see Franco. It was because he was reeling from how you had lied for months, tried to marry the man you thought was me with my wife in the front row, and you planned to keep Danny from knowing his Dad for his whole life then Jake took after your lead, deciding to blame Sam for everything when the one who was really responsible is you."

Elizabeth stood up, "Look, I know I was wrong to lie but I made amends. I shouldn't have to still pay for it."

"You mean the same way that Sam had made amends to both of us and saved Jake's life yet years later you used it as an excuse to keep her from her son?" Jason countered, "Yeah, you like to hold everyone else's mistakes over their heads while yours should be forgiven because you say you're sorry."

"I was sorry for what I did in 2015."

"If that was actually true then you wouldn't have placed the blame on Sam, Jake wouldn't have taken your lead and blamed her, too. And Sam and Jake wouldn't have nearly died because you refuse to take responsibility for your wrongs… in the last seven years, you have not changed one bit. You stood in that spot, admitted to lying and switching the DNA but never once did you really take the blame. So it doesn't surprise me that you shifted the blame onto Sam regarding your lies. The only time you tell the truth is when someone else forces it out of you."

"Jason, no matter what you think, we need to coexist for Jake's sake."

"We only need to be civil when I pick him up and drop him off. Other than that, you and me, the friendship I once held so dear… it's done. You can leave now."

"I still have things I want to say to you," Elizabeth said.

"And I don't want to hear them so please, save yourself the embarrassment of me having security throw you out." Jason walked past her and opened the door then motioned with one hand as an invitation to leave, "Get out."

Elizabeth huffed, flipped her hair from her face, and then sauntered out of the apartment, at the last second she made a turn back only to have the door slammed shut in her face.

Jason stretched out on the couch, thinking about his life specifically Elizabeth's part in his life. Yes, it was true that she had once saved his life but he had made a mistake to ever think they could be something more than friends.

She had never accepted him for the person he is and always wanted to change him into someone different. It had been the right thing for both of them when she left his apartment after finding out that Sonny had faked his death and he'd known about it.

Then he'd fallen in love with Courtney, he had loved her but things just weren't meant to be because life had something better in store for him or rather, someone better in store for him.

Sam McCall.

She had been everything he never thought he'd find, a true friend, a loyal partner, a fierce defender, someone who accepted him as he was, never asked him to changed into another person, and an unconditional love that only got stronger year after year.

And he'd screwed it all up by sleeping with Elizabeth. Yes, he'd been in pain over seeing her with Ric but it had also been because he knew it was his words that had driven her into his enemy's arms.

However, he should've known that sleeping with Elizabeth would only make things more complicated and that it did when she turned up pregnant. It had been made even worse when he had betrayed everything in his relationship and his love with Sam by lying to her at the request of Elizabeth.

Too many times had he hurt his soulmate and heart because if Elizabeth Webber; she had even been hurt by her while he was held captive, dreaming of nothing but getting back to her and their son.

Jason had been so caught up in his thoughts that he hadn't heard Sam come in, so she surprised him when she sat down on the edge of the couch.

"What's go you so pensive?"

He jumped a little then laughed, "You surprised me."

"I can see that, you seemed to have an awful lot on your mind. Care to share with your wife."

Jason sat up as Sam scooted back so she was curled into his side as he played with the ends of her silky, ebony lochs. "I finally confronted Elizabeth over all of the things she's been hiding from him when I was gone. I mean, you were nearly blown up and Jake could've been killed before I learned he was even alive. When I finally made it back, two of my reasons for living, would've been gone and all because of her."

"But Jake and I are just fine." Sam then turned his face so he was staring into her eyes, "In fact, we're better than fine. We're married again and in about seven and a half months, we will have a new addition to our family."

Jason smiled, "You're right. Elizabeth doesn't matter. All that matters is you, Danny, Emily Scout, Jake, and our new baby girl or boy."

The two shared a sweet and loving kiss as they got wrapped up in each other's arms, all of their cares forgotten.
