Spilled Truths

Summary:

In his sleepy haze, Kirishima could hardly register the words leaving his mouth and made some truths known.

Work Text:

It was a bright morning, and Kirishima was sleeping soundly in his bed until a series of knocks from outside his room had effectively roused him from his slumber, and he had automatically sat up in his bed.

"Wake the fuck up, Shitty Hair. We'll be late." Already, his best bro was badgering him to get dressed so early in the morning. "You better get up right now or I'm blasting through that shitty door of yours. I don't give a shit if it's locked."

"Five more minutes. It's still six o' clock...." Sleepily, he had muttered, reaching a hand up to rub the sleep off of his eye.

"It's five minutes before fucking seven, you idiot!" Bakugou had angrily exclaimed, which when he had finally gained enough coherence from the sleepy haze he was in, and he had quickly clambered his way out of his messy sheets.

Within a few minutes of cleaning himself up and making sure he was presentable in his school uniform, he had opened the door to meet the eyes of his dorm neighbor.

"About time you get your ass out of bed." Bakugou remarked, his carmine eyes scanning Kirishima from head to toe.

The weight of the other's gaze was too much for his still-drowsy brain to function properly, and he was reduced to a flustered state, words tumbling out his lips without any caution, primarily influenced by his sleep addled mind.

"Y-I-You look good."

"S-Shut the fuck up!"

" 'Kay, love you too." was what his sleep addled mind had chosen to say next, ultimately doing him in, not noticing how the blond had stilled beside him at his words.

There was a sudden moment of silence which seemed to have lasted for almost an eternity.

Somehow, however, it was the silence which had gotten him to snap of of whatever state he was in, and that his own words had begun to sink in.

Oh, shit.

He had messed up badly.

He had confessed his deepest feelings for his best friend, something which he had vowed to conceal for as long as he could in his fear of jeopardizing his friendship with Bakugou.

Because of what he had just did, he had wasted all his hard work in reeling himself from blurting out how the spectrum of emotions that the blond had made him feel in just the simple act of their shoulders bumping with one another; as well as how his heart would flutter all over whenever he catches Bakugou gracing him with one of his rare smiles.

In all of those instances, he was breaths away from speaking his truth. And now, all because he had been careless enough to mess up, he would never experience feeling those emotions again because there wasn't any way Bakugou would want to ever associate with him anymore.

"I have to go." It certainly wasn't manly to just run away, but it wasn't like he had much choice right now if he had wanted to still be able to salvage their friendship.

"Kirishima." He was stopped by the sound of his name, it was something which had never failed to spur his heart to beat wildly against his chest. His name was like music in his ears in Bakugou's voice. It had always been that way since the the Cavalry battle when he offered himself as a unbreakable horse to the blond, one of the first times he had felt the spark of attraction seeking to take over and swallow him wholly.

Although, it wasn't attraction, at least not anymore, since the first time he was shown the fruits of Bakugou's tutoring. At the time, he hadn't thought he would ever have attained such a high score, but it was made possible because of the tutoring sessions they had together.

"Tch, it wasn't just me, idiot." was what his friend had responded with and his heart had leapt from Bakugou's praise, the first time his heart had reacted in such a way.

However, right now, it wasn't quite the 'love' in which he would hear his parents say to each other nor is it the love he would witness characters saying from those rom-coms Ashido would pester to watch with her.

It wasn't that kind of 'love', at least not yet.

With how things are going, though, he knows that it was only a matter of time his feelings would shift to something in that level. And then maybe he'd say it, over something as simple as a meal in which the blond had shyly prepared for him, or when he'd massage Bakugou's callous hand marred from his explosions in their shared agency.

It was a fantasy of the future in which he had greatly desired. Whenever he would close his eyes, he could envision it fully. Yet, at the end of the day, it was just a fantasy nonetheless, a scenario with little likelihood of it ever happening.

Sighing disappointedly, Kirishima had opened his eyes to face the reality—The reality he was sure to wake up to, his best friend growling angrily at him in disgust and swearing their friendship off.

However, the reality he had returned to wasn't any of that. Instead, Bakugou was fixing him with an unreadable gaze, staring him down calculatingly.

"Explain."

"Huh?" was his unintelligent reply, and his friend seemed to have grown even more irritated at that.

"Explain what you said, Kirishima." Bakugou said in a tone he never heard from the explosive teen before, clenching his fist tightly.

There was something about that tone which had just... effortlessly wretches the truth out of him. Within seconds, the truth was spilled and he was now bracing himself for the impact.

"You mean so much to me, Bakugou. It might not be love, at least not yet. But, I like you so much and how I feel for you—it hits me when you are smiling at me. Like you are now ." He wasn't even sure if his words were even making sense right now as his thoughts were fuzzy, and he could barely even hear himself with how hard his heart was beating in his chest right now.

Taking a risk, Kirishima had decided to look up to meet his friend's gaze and a flicker of hope had surged over his chest at the flustered look decorating the blond's face.

"I'm not fuckin' smiling." Apparently, that was all Bakugou had to say, and nothing about the fact that he has feelings for him.

"Really? I could have sworn you are though. " The redhead grinned cheekily and the blush on Bakugou's face had darkened further at that.

"You're lucky that I like you or I'd have blown you up right now."

"You like me?"

"You know what I said. You're not deaf, dumbass."

"I'm not." He said as he took a step forward to shorten the distance between him and the blond. " I wouldn't mind if you repeat what you said. Preferably, a bit more clearly."

Bakugou had even went as far as to use his quirk, making the strides to shorten the distance between them as he had cupped Kirishima's cheeks in his hands.

"I like you so damn much. Your stupid smile drives me crazy. My heart fucking beats wildly when you so much as glance at me with that face so stop giving me that fucking look! And I even like your shitty hair." They shared a glance then and Kirishima found himself transfixed in the beautiful sight in front of him." 'That clear enough for you now?"

"Yeah," Kirishima smiled. "I know a way for you to make it clearer though."

"What is it now?"

"Kiss me." His own sudden boldness had surprised even him as well, but it was the moment his heart had chosen to speak.

" 'Didn't need to tell me twice." Before the redhead could even blink, a pair of lips was already meeting his.

Even as he was inexperienced, he had tried to kiss back as best as he could, and winced when he could feel his teeth biting the blond's bottom lip.

When they had pulled back from their liplock, their lips were sore even though the kiss was chaste and had only lasted a few seconds. Though, if could, he'd have wanted to etch those those in his mind forever so that they would never be forgotten .

Then, in that moment, Bakugou had graced him with a look so foreign yet so reassuring, and suddenly... he no longer doubts that the blond had felt the same way as he did; something which was made apparent by Bakugou's eyes had wandered over to his lips, and he had complied with the silent request for another kiss by taking the initiative in connecting their lips together

And with as much passion, Bakugou had returned his kiss without any hesitation, and he was instantly washed by a feeling of comfort that he would willingly devour for the rest of his life.

It would always be a feeling that would always be looking forward to at the end of the day, no matter what might happen.

```
Moments later, when they were rushing their way over to attend morning classes, their hands were their hands intertwined with one another, and his heart had soared happily at that, even as they had soon let go as soon as they had reached their classroom.
And it was then he had noticed it, his feelings had evolved a step closer to that kind 'love', but he didn't mind it. It was a change he would welcome any day.
