Work Text:
Izuku was on a mission. What mission? Well that's a long story.
Beginning at 3:00 a.m. in his room, the origin of all dumb ideas, while he once again waited for his mom to come home.
He allowed himself to hope even if she hadn't been home for months and even though he was sure she had blocked his number. Clinging onto the slightest spark of hope has always been his strength.
Well what was his idea, you might ask yourself. It's pretty simple actually and equally stupid.
Get affection from someone that can't push you away. Heroes
After all, heroes are supposed to help people, right? And affection would certainly help him not get depressed! Besides he was really touch starved with his mom leaving him for a few days (abandoning him).
With that in mind Izuku went to planning. After he got some well deserved sleep of course. The human body can't withstand everything.
—
A few days later he made his first move.
Stalking his predatory prey
That was a way harder task than he expected. Of course he knew that it wouldn't be easy to stalk a hero but his heart wasn't prepared for the amount of scares he got.
He never planned on nearly being caught a dozen times. Guess there's a reason he's one of the top 10! (But seriously Izuku needs better hiding places)
It wasn't difficult to say he slightly regretted his decision. He wasn't going to back out now though. After all you gotta start what you finish!
God have mercy.
Izuku needed to know his exact patrol route for his plan to work. He wasn't even gonna think about how he'd most likely go to jail if he went through with it.
His mind had to be clear, he told himself while he once again watched the hero pass by him to rest. At the exact same time and place as the day before.
Everything was going exactly as planned.
—
Time for step 2:
Rethinking his entire life
No plan is a good plan if you don't have an identity crisis in the process of it. Nothing is that simple.
Silently crying, Izuku finally accepted: his mom isn't gonna come back. She didn't even bother to pay the rent.
How would he be able to afford everything? He already hasn't eaten for days.
Maybe she will be back?
Instead of clinging to hope, he started sobbing harder. Of course she wasn't going to come back. Why would she?
He decided to focus solely on his plan. No more hoping. He was going to finish what he started. Even if he didn't know what to do afterwards or how to survive till he was done preparing.
Hopefully prison food isn't as terrible as in the movies.
—
He still had to do one thing:
Get a gun
You might think that getting a gun as a teenager would be nearly impossible but not for him. He started hanging around the sketchy parts of town when he was still a first year in middle school.
It was the only place his bullies didn't dare follow him to. He also discovered that the majority of drug dealers are quite nice. Except the pedo ones. (Fuck those)
He also knew a fair share of weapon dealers who would be happy to help him. They never liked that he very obviously got bullied.
Maybe he should be sad that the only people caring about him were criminals but he wasn't. After all they were more like his family than Inko ever was.
Originally he just wanted to jump at the hero but what if they think he's trying to kill them? So Izuku settled on getting a gun for threatening purposes.
Now that he thinks about it. That's the dumbest solution he ever came up with but he wasn't about to change his plan now. (Literally where was your logic?)
Convincing Hiroshi, his father figure and best friend, to get him a gun was a lot easier than he imagined. He would never tell him no.
He also gladly accepted the food after being told he looked like a walking corpse.
—
He would never admit it but he was scared.
He was scared of going to jail and never seeing his friends again.
He was scared of it being all for nothing.
But he wasn't about to let his preparations go to waste. What did he have to lose anyways? Besides his last bit of freedom.
Determined to go through with his plan he took the train heading to his destination. It only took about 1 hour and he was buzzing with anxiety only getting worse the closer he got.
Am I really about to do this?
Not bothering to talk himself out of it, he got off. Maybe he was suicidal or maybe he just finally wanted someone to help him. To save him from his bullies and finally give him a hug. He deserved a hug after everything.
He climbed up to the roof where one of his favorite heroes took a break every patrol. Getting him alone was essential for his plan.
Guess there's no turning back now.
Izuku quickly checked his watch while hoping he wasn't too late.
3:25 p.m.
Perfect. He still had half an hour. Now he only needed to hide until his target arrived. Maybe this won't go as wrong as he expected!
—
Exactly 30 minutes later he was watching the hero land with ease. Hawks obviously didn't see nor expect him because he simply turned to sit on the edge like he does every time.
Maybe I should just leave?
Fuck it. "Hawks! I-"
Slightly jumping, he turned around. Hawks expected a lot of things. A fan trying to get his autograph, one of the more ambitious (overambitious) reporters wanting an interview or simply just a mugger feeling suicidal.
What he didn't expect though was a gun directed towards him.
Don't get him wrong. He got threatened quite a lot as a hero but not by a teenager. A teenager trembling like he was the one facing the gun.
"Kid, just put the gun down so we can talk. I won't arrest you if you don't give me a reason to."
"I- uh-"
Why couldn't he say anything? Kacchan would probably be laughing at him by now. His plan was stupid. All of this was fucking stupid.
"What do you want, kid?"
"A hug?"
Great. Now he would probably burst out laughing. Why wouldn't he? He was literally threatening him with a gun and had the audacity to ask for a hug? What was wrong with him?
But Hawks did none of that. He didn't laugh or sneer at him. Instead he opened his arm like he actually wanted to hug him.
Izuku didn't waste any time. Tears were streaming down his face by the time the hero finally enclosed him in his arms and wings.
So warm and… nice
By now he was sobbing but for once he didn't feel embarrassed by it. Even though he probably should. After all, he had just threatened him with a gun.
"Everything's fine. Just breathe for me, alright?"
From all the things that happened to him, holding the kid would be one of his favorites. Not including the gun though.
Hawks knew it the moment he saw Izuku. He would never let him leave again.
