Work Text:
Ayleth was sitting at a restaurant, waiting for her boyfriend Srian to show up.
He hasn't shown up for 20 whole minutes so she just kept on waiting. The waitress walked over for the fifth time that evening with a sad look on her face.
"Are you ready to order ma'am?" "Um, no not yet.. He'll be here any minute. I'm sure of it."
The waitress nodded and walked away.
Ayleth glanced at the other people around her and they were giving her sympathetic looks. Ayleth knew she was getting stood up and she was just about to leave when a guy she had never met before shows up at her table.
"Oh my goodness baby, I'm so sorry- Traffic was so crazy-"
She looked confused but then he added in a whisper, "I'm Terryn. Just go with it, okay? Whoever didn't bother to show up is an asshole."
Her eyes lit up a bit, glad she wasn't alone.
He sat down and the waitress came immediately over. "May I take your order?"
"Hi yes please. I'll have the Filet Mignon."
She nodded and looked over at Terryn. "I'll have the same thing she's having."
The waitress nodded and walked back to the kitchen.
"I'm Ayleth.. Thank you for that.."
"Of course." He smiled softly and they talked for a while.
He was pretty charming and cute and didn't seem like an asshole like her boyfriend.
They got their food and they ate.
They made small talk and soon the sorta date was over.
"Hey, sorry about your date and how he didn't show up."
"It's alright." She responded. "He does it a lot anyways.. He's really toxic.."
"You deserve way better-" "Like you?" He tensed up. He nodded slowly and looked away.
She smiled and pulled out her phone to text her now ex-boyfriend.
She went back to their conversation and she kissed his nose.
He blushed and smiled. "You know.. I would love to go on another date with you. If you're up for it?"
She nodded and smiled. "Here's my number.. I'll text you when I'm free."
He smiled and took her business card she seemed to carry around in her purse.
He smiled wider as she kissed his hand and walked away towards a cab.
She hailed it and they drove away.
He sighed in happiness and she sighed in relief as she was nervous about messing up.
She was kind of glad that she left her ex.
He was mean anyways and Terryn seemed much nicer.
She'd make the most out of this, this time.
