Saiki was not having a good day.
First, his fridge had run out of coffee jelly that he's forgotten to restock, then he had to deal with his parents being all lovey-dovey in the middle of breakfast, which is not as sweet as it seems and now he's lost his appetite. So much for eating.
The fact that Teruhashi greeted him at the school entrance did not help at all. That got him way too much negative attention. She was also putting together a plan to ask him out in a very casual way as to not get anyone's attention. Saiki almost laughed at this.
So, now, Saiki has a little love problem. He has to avoid Teruhashi as much as possible. You'd think that would be easy, because, you know, he's a psychic and all that, but you'd be wrong. You see, not only is Teruhashi loved by everyone in PK Academy, she's loved by god. And god is not someone he'd like to deal with today.
A solution for this would be to get Teruhashi to avoid Saiki. But that's impossible. As I said, she's got a crush on him, which means she won't leave him alone. She's already tried and failed to talk to him alone 3 times yesterday, and Saiki doesn't want to wait and find out what she came up with today.
If only he had someone that every girl in school hates. Someone everyone goes out of their way to avoid. Someone famous for being the worst. Some... one.. like...
Of course.
He had to be quick, because the person he's thinking of always goes to school last minute, and rushes out of class at the sound of the bell. That guy doesn't particularly care about academics, after all.
The school bell rings.
Good, it's finally break, which means Teruhashi would be trying to carry out her plan right now, if she wasn't swarmed by the Kokomins, her fan club and basically cult. Time to carry out a plan of his own.
Exiting class, Saiki spots the person he's looking for on the way to the cafeteria. This is good, nothing is going wrong right now. He runs up to them, grabs their arm and pulls them aside, which would've been easier if they weren't stumbling around.
[ Toritsuka, have lunch with me. ]
Toritsuka was caught off guard, and confused, started blabbering and all that, trying to get a reason. But with Saiki gripping his shoulder with the intensity of the sun, and the terrifying demon glare that he definitely inherited from his mother, he wasn't going to say no. After all, are you going to refuse an all-powerful psychic?
So, Saiki is going to spend the lunch with the most infamous man of all, the ghost whisperer, Toritsuka Reita. This can only go so wrong, right?
Right?
