Chapter Text
Frigid air filled the living room of the Parker residence. The entire house was dead silent as the oldest child stood in shock, eyes fixated on the sight in front of him. Horror, shock and fear were the only emotions that circled through his body.
Three bodies lay sprawled in odd angles across the wooden floors. Each with a slash mark across their pale necks, leaking a dark crimson liquid. The boy's mother, father and little sister were the victims. Their killer stood in the middle of the room, she held a dagger the length of her forearm. The weapon she had used to slaughter the boy's family.
Rusty red hair fell in an array around the woman's chest, she had dark red lipstick and wore a leather jacket with a plain black tank top under it. The only evidence of the kill was the blood spatters across her deathly pale face.
She adjusted her grip on blade, twisting it over in her hand as she walked over to the eldest child. The floor creaked as she moved, her gaze dark and murderous.
The woman's eyes were black.
"Nikolai Parker. You, my dear, have caused me undeniable amounts of trouble!" She pointed the weapon at me, "You and those damn Winchesters will be the death of me, I'm sure of it. But Lucifer forbid I die before tearing your life apart."
The boy shook his head, terror caused his body to shake as he backed up as the woman approached. "I don't know who you are!"
She grinned, "You will."
As the woman raised her hand a bright, white light filled the room. It blinding both Nikolai and the demon woman and suddenly everything went black.
Warmth. The first thing Nikolai had noticed was the warmth. Next he felt the itchy feeling of grass on his bare hands. Had he fallen asleep in the backyard? A sigh of relief nearly escaped his mouth as he opened his eyes, maybe it had all been a bad dream.
Once his blue eyes had opened he came to the conclusion that this was not his backyard. He panicked, looking around in each direction to find only a field. Nikolai slammed his hands on the ground, he felt anxiety and despair as a sob choked out.
"No...no..." He began breath heavily, his entire body shaking as the panic attack set in. It had all happened in the matter of seconds. The death, the blood. That...demon killed his family because of something he didn't even know he did.
It...she...wanted him to suffer. Why? Why him? What for?
So many questions flew through his mind, most of which would remain unanswered, for now. He'd lost everything and didn't even know why.
After seven minutes he started to calm back down, the shaking stopped and he was breathing normally again. His gaze landed on the dead grass below him and he noticed two blades in front of him. Each of which were identical to the one the demon held.
Beautiful silver daggers that reflected the face of Nikolai. Shaggy dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and a freckled face. His skin was slightly tanned ivory with red undertones. He looked a mess, the puffiness of his eyes from crying hadn't dimmed down.
The fourteen year old picked the blades up and concealed them in either side of the inside pockets of his green army jacket. If the thing appeared again he would need something to defend himself again.
He stood, deciding that it was best to figure out where he was. All that surrounded him was a field of grass with trees on the boarder and a dirt path up ahead. A road?
Nikolai approached the road, painfully aware of the weighted daggers in his pockets. As he got closer he noticed a pile of debris and ash around a dirt patch of land.
"The hell-?" He looked around, observing the rubble. It seemed as though a fire had occurred here, maybe an explosion. After a while he concluded that it what happened didn't really matter to him.
Why he appeared there was a bigger question he wanted answered.
Why, why, why.
So many Why's.
Nikolai sniffled, his nose feeling full from the crying. He still couldn't really wrap his head around everything that had happened in the last few minutes.
His family gets slaughtered, a demon says its his fault, light and then now he's God knows where. Maybe he had died and this was heaven? It was hard to believe, Nikolai wasn't even religious. How he wished this was all just a dream.
For years Nikolai had believed in the paranormal, in all things supernatural...but now he knows they're real he isn't so sure he's as excited about it anymore. If death, despair and pain is all that follows he'd rather not expirence the supernatural again.
After a while of walked around the charred remains of a building, stumbling across some bones and running from a bee Nikolai was alerted by the sound of a car pulling up to the old place. He stared in confusion at the silver Nissan, wondering why someone would be coming up here.
The car parked not far from him and out came a woman. She had medium length brown hair and looked to be in her 50s. Nikolai noticed a blonde woman remained seated inside, a cautions expression on her face.
"Hey kid, what are you doing out here?" She asked, her voice soft and motherly.
Niko didn't really have an answer. He just stared at her, unsure of what to do or say. The atmosphere was tense...to Nikolai at least.
"How old are ya?" She questioned.
The dirty blonde could answer this one, "Fourteen, almost fifteen." His voice was shaking as fear rushed through him. He was terrified.
The woman came closer, "You look like you've just seen a ghost."
Nikolai exhaled, "Close enough to it."
She raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean by that, kid?"
"Nikolai."
"Sorry Niko, I haven't introduced myself either. Ellen Harvelle." She smiled, her face showing no signs of deceit. "Now what do you mean you saw a ghost, or something similar."
He didn't speak. Ellen would surley think he's lying. Come on, no one would believe he saw a demon.
She put a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, whatever it is I'll believe you. Trust me, I've seen it all at this point. Ghosts included."
"Black eyes. A woman with black eyes." Is all he was able to muster out before sealing his lips once more.
Ellen dropped her hand, "A demon."
Nikolai's eyes widened in shock, "You believe me!?"
She nodded, "Yeah. Me and my daughter Jo hunt these things. Well, not demons specifically...but demons, ghosts, vampires, shifters...any supernatural creature you can think of. Demon activity has spiked lately." Ellen glanced back at the blonde, her daughter Niko guessed.
She continued, "So how did you end up here?"
Niko recalled the events of nearly half an hour ago, telling them in complete detail. He ended up in tears by the end of it and was met with an embrace from Ellen.
She spoke softly, "Shh...Shh. I know some people who can help, okay? We'll figure this out."
From then on, Nikolai's life changed completely. He would no longer be Nikolai Parker, the freshmen who had a knack for theater and writing. He was something different now, a new person had hatched after witnessing the deaths of his family. Now, that new being had to grow.
This is how Nikokai Parker became Nikolai Harvelle.
