Name: Marissa Harrington-Hannigan
Dæmon Name: Aodhan Harrington-Hannigan
Dæmon Status: Settled
Dæmon Form: Egyptian Mongoose (Herpestes Icheumon)
Notable Features: Due to their Witch Heritage, even after Aodhan Settled, he could take on the form of an American Badger in times of stress. He has an unusual red color to him, and multiple piercings and rings around his tail. (Side note: For some reason, I’ve always imagined him sounding like Tom Holland in S1 and Ryan Reynolds in S2 onwards)
Vague Background: She is the younger sister of Alicia and Belatucadros. She joined The Party at a nebulous time before S1. She and her sister recently moved to Hawkins from Canada due to an ‘incident’ at her school. They’re Steve’s cousins. She hates bullies more than anything else.
- She grins, teeth bared. She stalks the halls after the boys, Aodhan’s mocking hyena laugh echoing off the lockers. The bullies’ knife sharp sneers fall from their faces as the farm dogs and tomcats scatter from her wild aching soul. ‘Who do they think they are?’, Aodhan chuckled in her mind. She smirked and shook her head, ‘don’t know bud. But what’s a sparrow to a hawk?’. She rolled her shoulders back and copied Steve’s ‘King of Hawkins’ walk. The boys turned to her, smiling brightly. “So?”, Dustin asked. She tilted her head, having missed the question. “Which is better, Wonder Woman or Batgirl?”. She tucked her hands into her pockets and shook her head. Aodhan huffed, shifting into a young tiger, “Ya know, we’ve always been more partial to Harley Quinn ourself.”
- Brenner (Papa, El called him. A girl who didn’t understand that Papa’s aren’t supposed to steal your soul from you) cooed lowly at El. Reminding her that she was a danger to the boys, she was better off controlled. She snarled. How many girls like them have been shoved down by words like that? The man’s cobra Dæmon twisted closer; hood flared wide. He betrayed his own fear. Aodhan snapped his teeth, the dog form bristling with rage. She thought back to her earlier argument with El. ‘All that power locked up. All that power you can’t use. While you’ve been learning to control your power, I’ve learned to It. Out.’, she said. Aodhan hissed, an awful sand over stone sound. He exploded off her shoulder, twisting into a long, reddish ferret like creature. He latched his teeth into the cobra, and she could feel the rasp of scales under her teeth, blood on her tongue. She let out a howl of rage, the same rage she once unleashed in school, hundreds of miles from here. Aodhan clamped his jaws down tight, and the snake was stained in gold, dripping ichor. She pulled the boys, shell shocked, away. El trailed after, wide eyed. Marissa felt the girl’s cold fingers curl into her sleeve and pulled her close. Later, Alicia will sit next to her. She will look at Aodhan and smile, sritching lightly under his chin. Marissa’s eyes slip shut as her sister brushes across her soul, like the first snowflakes of winter, a cool breeze in summer. “Egyptian Mongoose,” she’ll say as fondness sweeps through them, “People called them Dragon Killers.”. Aodhan chirped, pleased. Marissa grinned, all shark sharp teeth.
Aodhan: (Ai-Den) An Irish Gaelic name meaning ‘Fire’ or ‘Firey One’. Marissa is a tad hot headed and defensive. She can rush into fights and can blaze out of control. But she is also essential, just as fire is for humans. She can be a light in the dark, and a fierce defender who pushes the dark away. Respect her, and she’ll respect you.

Alicia Harrington-Hannigan
Dæmon Name: Belatucadros Harrington-Hannigan
Dæmon Status: Settled (Male)
Dæmon Form: Snow Leopard (Panthera Uncia)
Vague Backstory: Canadian, Marissa’s older sister. Her Great-Great Grandmother is a Witch from an Icelandic Clan. She’s a little more ‘witchy’ than her sister is, and it leaves her feeling out of place in the world. Her abilities are a little more advanced than her sister’s and she acts as El’s sort of ‘mentor’. She is gifted with divination, basic spells, and she and Bel are Separated. She can be absent minded and a people pleaser who hates conflict between friends. Billy’s first real friend. She doesn’t attend school in Hawkins, preferring to finish her school early then through the internet.
- She blinks awake. Bel’s eyes glow in the dark, his current black wolf form a hulking shadow. The ocean roars outside the cabin. “What woke us Bel?”, she whispered, not wanting to wake anyone. He shrugged, confusion twisting through him. She turned to the porch door, the moon was fulling and shining over Tofino’s ocean. Her heart leapt, and her legs twitched. Before her mind formed the thought, Bel had already crossed the floor to the door. Tugging on her hoodie, Alicia followed. The pair wandered down the beach, their sides brushing and minds buzzing with a call they couldn’t explain. Coming to a stop, the cold water lapped at her feet, and Bel twisted into an otter.
“I am glad you heard us”. Turning, she saw a woman. She was pale and lovely, with long chocolatey curls, and shining pine-green eyes. She had a gentle smile. Alicia felt she should be more concerned about the fact the woman was wearing some sort of toga and floating above the ground. It’s a distant thought though, washed away like footprints on the beach. Bel stepped forwards, “I know you. You’re in Grandma’s photo box”, he said. The woman nodded, “Yes. Your Grandmother is my granddaughter. We’ve been waiting for you for a long time, mitt Krútt”. She only remembers what comes next in flashes. The woman, Adalheidis and her Osprey Dæmon, is a witch. The water is cool and consuming, and Adalheidis’s hand is warm. The Cloud-Pine tree towers above them, and Bel is far behind her. The Pine Bow is light in her hand, and Bel is sitting on the shore, silvery and beautiful. Adalheidis presses a vial into her hand and kisses her cheek. “Until we meet again, mín Elskan”. She flies away, and Bel nudges her hip. She knows, deep in her bones, like she knows her name. Bel has settled, and she will never be the same. The vial goes to the bottom of her bag, and the bow is tucked behind a jacket. She tries not to think about how Bel can travel to the other end of the island alone now.
- “No way, Samwise is the best Lord of the Rings character!”, she laughed. Eddie shakes his head, betrayed. Salem hoots, rolling over Bel and burying her nose in his ruff. “How can you think that? The whole story is about Frodo! If he didn’t carry the One Ring, the story would never leave the Shire” Eddie argued. Bel churred softly, stretching out by the book stacks. “Eddie darling, if Sam didn’t carry Frodo, what would have become of Middle Earth?”.
She wishes she could go back to those times; she thinks. She swings the bow down hard on the Demobat, knocking it away from Steve. Steve twists, trying to free himself from the creature wrapped around his throat. Her lungs struggle to take in enough oxygen in the smoggy ashen air. Alicia lets out a shriek of pain as she hits the ground. A Demobat is squeezing her leg, and cold fire shoots through her veins as she hears a dull snap. Another Demobat lunges at her neck, and she screams, aching hopelessly for her Dæmon. A shriek of anger comes from offside as her vision whites out. When she can blink color back into her vision (or as much color as there is in the Upside Down), Eddie is grabbing the Demobat from her leg, stomping it to pulp. She tries not to sob as blood rushes back down her leg. She does cry when she sees Robin, Billy, Nancy, and Eddie, but not Locksley, Vingthor, Justinian or Salem. Carefully, Billy wraps her leg, and picks her up. “I don’t want that bone to puncture the skin down here. One rabid Harrington is enough for today”, Billy huffs, holding her carefully. She grabs Eddie’s hand, and smiles wanely at his pale, trembling form. “Frodo wouldn’t have got far without Sam, would he?”, she smiled. He laughed, a little madly. She swept his hair back from his face and tried not to look at the empty place at his side. ‘How brave a man must be, to leave his soul behind’. “I am glad, that you are here with me….Here, at the end of all things”.
Belatucadros: Celtic God of Britons. He was a war god of the everyday soldier, not nobility, whose name means ‘Fair Slayer’. There is an argument over if the ‘Fair’ means ‘beautiful’ or ‘just’. He was almost lost to history, if not for a few surviving inscriptions. Alicia is an unknown to most people. She hides herself well, only revealing her true self to those she trusts. She may not be the most extroverted person, but she has a strong sense of justice and is willing to help those she feels have been wrongly accused.
