Chapter Text
“i can't believe this is fucking happening right now”
your figure stood by the window facing the street, as the heavy snowfall completely covered the city in white and consequently paused every sign of human life outside. but you weren’t really bothered by the snow at all, or even by the fact that the power had gone out for what feels like hours.
but that you had to spend god knows how long, stuck in here, with him.
the bane of your existence, the absolute menace that was choi san.
you weren’t really a violent person but something within you just sparked with a type of anger never seen before whenever he was around.
you dreaded even thinking of being within a mile of him, and now look at you, just a room away from his insufferably strong presence.
you could hear him existing and it was already ticking you off badly.
how did this even happen?
oh yeah, you had so kindly decided to come hang out with wooyoung, your best friend, on this nice snowy day, but he had so gracefully forgotten to mention he’d be staying late at the company to practice and by the time you found out it was already too late, because you had knocked on the door and seen the wrong face opening it.
him.
before you knew it he had already scoffed at your freezing figure standing by the doorway.
“wooyoung’s not here, what do you want?” he asked with a poker face.
you were fighting the urge to shiver in front of him but at this point you just needed to get some warmth onto your body, but you scoffed back and rolled your eyes at his tone.
san had the habit of playing nice in front of the best friend you both shared, making it seem as if you guys got along but whenever you found yourself cursed with his presence in private, you were met with backhanded comments and sassy remarks that usually ended with the both of you bickering in whispers so wooyoung wouldn’t scold you.
but the amount of times he has gone out of his way to make you annoyed are more than you can count with your fingers, from picking on you behind wooyoung’s back to simply staring at you like you’re the cause of all of the current world issues, and for what…?
by the time you had decided you’d be going back home, decision that only took 4 seconds approximately to be made, the snow had somehow already seemed to pick up so badly that the sidewalks were un-walkable, the streets covered by a thick layer of snow and even the buses had stopped working for the day for the safety of the drivers.
so you squinted at the man before you squeezed yourself through the doorway, quickly took your shoes off and rushed to wooyoung’s room, blocking out the sound of san’s incessant nagging, because you truly couldn’t care less, specially when you couldn’t feel your toes already due to the cold.
you sighed at the sight of your best friends room, a mix of messy and a mess and a half, but you walked towards his closet and took one of his hoodies and a pair of sweats he let you use “for whenever you came around and you want to be comfy”, quickly changing out of your cold clothes, throwing them onto the pile of dirty laundry that sat in a corner.
you had pictured the night to go much more differently, because you genuinely didn’t care about the snow had wooyoung actually been here to keep you company, but now you sat in his bed, alone, in the dorm with your biggest sworn enemy who you were sure hated your guts, and who knows why but you hated his too.
by far, choi san was probably the most obnoxious person you know, why? just because he seems to hate the fact that you exist it seems.
someone’s angry, ha.
your thoughts were cut short with the sound of some loud music coming from the living room, the walls vibrating with the bass that came from the speakers and coming obviously from the only possible person who could cause such ruckus.
you stormed out of the room, your feet barely making a noise against the wooden floors when you entered the living room and stared at the figure of the man who simply didn’t know peace.
with your arms crossed you stared at him as he sat peacefully on the couch, headphones on and completely unbothered. he only seemed to notice your presence after a few seconds, your eyes burning holes through his skull.
with bored eyes he took one of his airpods off and gave you an annoyed look before words came out of his mouth.
“can i help you?” he said with a grunt, seemingly annoyed that you had somehow disturbed his peace.
with the music still blaring through the speakers you somehow managed to make your voice heard over it.
“why are you blasting your music when you’re using your airpods?” you asked, tapping your feet against the ground while waiting for the dumb excuse he was about to give you.
“it blocks out the noise better” he said with a shrug, just so nonchalantly and yet so annoying, but how did that even make sense? how does noise block out more noise?
god, this dude is stupid.
“that doesn't make any sense, you’re just disturbing the peace of the neighbours…” you spoke as you walked to the kitchen, attempting to hide my annoyance with a snack.
this statement somehow made him lower the volume of the music but made things worse as he approached the kitchen, standing over your hunched figure that searched the turned off fridge for anything edible to snack on.
"can i help you?” you asked, looking over your shoulder at his staring figure, the fact that he just stood there in silence as he inspected your every move was making you more annoyed if even possible.
“why does wooyoung like you so much? you’re just… there” he asked with a face of pure confusion, like he was trying to figure out the meaning of the universe.
your mouth hung agape, closing the fridge behind you empty handed as his question took you completely off guard.
“what is wrong with you dude, genuinely? why do you hate me so much?” you asked with a frown, your heart beating furiously against your chest as you racked your brain for the possible reasons why this man despised your guts with such a passion.
your eyes stayed glued on his, watching as he scanned your face before you huffed and turned to leave the room, ready to bury yourself underneath wooyoung’s blankets until he came back and made you forget about this whole ordeal.
“you just took him away from me” he added under his breath, not adding anything to his statement and leaving your even more confused than before.
you turned back to stare at his dimly lit figure from wooyoung’s doorway, simply staring at him waiting for him to continue speaking, because you truly were just confused beyond belief right now.
“you came into his life and now suddenly he has less time to hang out with me, suddenly there’s someone else he can be with, spend time with and it’s not me and i hate it”
gosh, is he 12 or something…
you simply stared at him, your brain still twisting and turning trying to make out if he was actually serious.
“san, you can’t be serious right now..? is this why you’re always trying to get on my nerves? because you’re… jealous?” you asked in disbelief.
he scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes wavering around the kitchen instead of meeting yours.
“i’m not… jealous, it’s just annoying how you always seem to be stuck to wooyoung’s side… all the time” he said with a frown.
“that’s being jealous san, you’re jealous…” you added with a small laugh, the annoyance going over you and now finding this whole thing just hilarious. “you and wooyoung have been friends for over 4 years bud, i couldn’t take that man away from you even if i tried, trust me”
his eyes shot up to stare at you as you spoke, taken back by the sudden nonchalant statement.
“do you… hate me?” he suddenly asked under his breath, the confidence and cockiness he carried earlier now out the window and buried deep within the snow downstairs.
“you annoy the living fuck out of me but i think we’ve sorted out why, so no i don’t hate you, san, you just always successfully get on my nerves” you replied, rolling your eyes at the thought of the countless times he had managed to make you want to wrestle him right there on the spot.
you watched as he lowered his gaze, the floor now seemingly catching his interest.
“if we’re done here, i’ll be going then…” you said, slowly retreating into the comfort of your best friends messy room.
“i’m sorry… for everything” he said, his attention now fully on you. “i felt pushed aside and all but i shouldn’t have taken it out on you, it wasn’t your fault anyway…” he added, scratching his neck in embarrassment as he waited for a reaction out of you, but you just stood there watching him breath in and out his nervousness.
but this whole situation still seemed so funny to you, so you decided that maybe you’ll make him pay back for making your life hell for the past few months.
“hmm… i dont know if a simple apology will cut it san, you have been onto me for months now…” you replied with a hum, feigning hurt.
his eyes traveled across your face in fear, he was so nervous you could feel it emanating out of him from where you stood.
“i’m sorry, i’ll do anything i swear”
and that’s how you ended up persuading him to order food for you, as simple as that. and it was your luck that there was a place nearby that you and wooyoung tend to order from quite often when you camo to hang out.
you watched as he paid the fried chicken delivery dude by the door, quickly taking the bag out of his hands and waddling to the kitchen like you had just won the lottery, the smell of the food already making your tummy feel funny.
he stood in disbelief to the side as it settled upon him that you had essentially tricked him into buying chicken for you… as a form of apology.
choi san, you got bamboozled bro.
damn.
two boxes of chicken later and more inches of snow covering the streets outside, you had decided that choi san wasn’t so bad.
maybe he was funny and maybe, just maybe he was quite handsome too.
god, if you had said yesterday that you’d be sitting on the couch next to this man, making small conversation over some fried chicken… yeah, that wouldn’t even cross your mind.
welp.
but you talked about everything and anything, and surprisingly enough you guys had so much in common, from the shows you watched to the music you listen to, even favorite foods to match,, and it all made you feel even more confused on how you felt about him, because a few hours ago you could’ve easily just fought this man right in the middle of this living room.
and he was so easy to talk to and the conversation just seemed to flow out of the two of you like you had never held any resentment towards each other, like you had been friends for years and years.
it was nice to be honest, things felt more balanced when around him and it was nice to say the least.
as the hours passed, the power seemed to never come back on, and wooyoung or the rest of the guys nowhere in sight, the snow made the apartment extremely cold, and no matter how many sweatshirts you threw on or how many blankets you wrapped around yourself, it just seemed to never end.
and judging by the shivering man that sat next to you, you figured you weren’t alone in this.
“san, you want another blanket or…?” you asked with concern, his lips quivering with the cold as he turned to stare at you from the little blanket pile he had buried himself in.
“nah, i’m good, just a little gush of wind got me shivering, nothing too serious” he said with a small smile, attempting (and failing) to conceal how cold he was feeling at this point.
you laughed at him, trying your best not to let it resonate through the silent apartment.
but the night settled in and you guys eventually ran out of things to chit chat about, the room got dark and your phones were on the verge of dying, so the only thing left to do was sleep really. and after what felt like the longest day of your life it wasn’t hard for your eyes to flutter shut and for your brain to start shutting off, but not before feeling a pair of arms wrap around you from behind, and a shivering san settle within the warmth of your body.
the surprise wooyoung felt when he arrived the next morning and had found his two best friends, who “hated each other” cuddling on his couch was definitely not something he could ever put into words.
but the best part of it all was the amount of pictures he took that he said and i quote “would make great blackmail”
