I'll still choose you to love

Summary:

"When I wake from them, I have this huge feeling of having missing something dear to me. As if I'm grieving on a love I haven't found yet lost. Did I forget something? Have I lost something that I have no clue that I did?"

Then Uki asked, "Who did you dream of?"

Grey eyes now met pink and violet.

"You"

Notes:

Hi! I hope you guys enjoy this thing i wrote this morning on the fly. It's inspired from Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay by Ben&Ben. Sorry if there's still grammar and spelling mistakes in it

Work Text:

Fulgur remembers their conversation when they first met. It was outside of some cafe Uki chose, their tables filled with their drinks of tea and coffee paired off with flat bread.

Pink and violet looked at him when he opened his mouth to talk about the things that plagued his dreams for the past years since.

"I've been having these dreams of the beach, staring at the horizon for a long, long time—like I'm trying to search for something...or someone. Like i have someone at my side when I'm at place but they're gone when i turn to look for them." Fulgur told him, steel grey eyes looking down at his steaming cup of tea. He doesn't know why but he has the urge to spill out these things to this man in front of him as if he'll disappear if he didn't.

That thought terrified him a great deal.

On the other hand, Uki haven't uttered a word yet since he started to talk about the dreams, his face calm yet mixed with something unreadable to him before it vanished at a blink. He gave him a small smile then a nod, signalling him to continue.

And Fulgur did.

"When I wake up from them, I have this huge feeling of having missing something dear to me. As if I'm grieving on a love I haven't found yet lost. Did I forget something? Have I lost something that I have no clue that I did?"

Then Uki asked, "Who did you dream of?"

Grey eyes now met pink and violet.

"You"

Despite the strange start of their relationship, they mesh well together. A blur of colors with its ups and downs for Fulgur—flashes of their wedding showered with petals, tears and gold rings then their home at the beach.

They were so happy then—cuddling together at the terrace, looking up at the evening sky littered with stars. Small talks spoken to their ears because they don't want to move away from each other.

Then there's that small mobile of jellyfish they lovingly put up and admire. They were ecstatic then but it was ripped away from their hands not long after. It hurts to look at it now. Uki barely talks to him, always huddled a few meters away from him on their bed. Even refused to be touched, a small touch of a hand over his makes him shake Fulgur's hand away and walk far to create this heavy air of distance.

Fulgur tries and tries. Only breaking down when he knew Uki is deep in his sleep so he can wrap his arms around him, trying his best not to soak the other man's neck with his tears. He feel asleep like that, unaware that Uki woke up, his hand clenched in attempt to hold back his own sobs. Quietly, he rouses from the embrace to get out of the bed. Uki stares at his husband, sorrow etched in his face before turning to walk out of the bedroom and into the beach.

The next day Fulgur woke up alone. He feels his heart is beating erratically, his brain sending warning bells at the fact Uki is not here. He reigns in the panic and gets up to look for him. He wanders around their house, from the kitchen to the living room and the empty, empty room they don't have the heart to visit anymore.

All of them were void of Uki.

It made him terrified so he runs outside the beach. Fulgur sees Uki's footprints in the sand leading to the sea so he follows the trail to end up at the coast with Uki's flipflops haphazardly taken off.

'No' Fulgur screams inside his head.

This is like the last life again. Except he was the one who left Uki at the beach.

xxxx, 29th of June

Uki Violeta takes a sip of his coffee, trying not to let his hands shake from anxiety and pain at seeing the man in front of him.

Maybe he shouldn't have agreed to Shoto setting him up with a blind date if this was the guy but...Uki missed him so badly. He feels terrible for leaving him behind.

Curious grey eyes looked at him, Uki's heart ached at the familiarity. Too bad he can't remember anything from the last life they had and it's also good that Uki will make up for the time lost and wasted opportunities.

"Who was in your dreams?" Fulgur asks

Uki Violeta gives him a small, sad smile.
