It’s been 3 weeks since Weiss and Ruby started dating to the surprise of their close comrades, especially Blake and Yang, who by that point knew about their little heart-to-heart talk not that long ago. After a run-in with Winter, which led to her defecting from Ironwood, she then aided Team RWBY in escaping his clutches.
However, Winter could not help but notice Ruby and Weiss being all lovey-dovey towards each other, something she decided to repress when she joined the Atlas military.
“I demand you tone it down, please.” demanded Winter.
“Why’d you have to ruin the mood, Winter?” asked Ruby.
Winter could not reply to Ruby, even if she tried. This is mostly because, since she was in the military, Winter never found the time to date. By the time they arrived, the entirety of Team RWBY was all at peace…well, all except Ruby, who was eventually confronted by Winter.
“Ruby, we need to talk.” Winter told Ruby.
Shortly thereafter, Winter decided to interrogate Ruby about Weiss. A nervous Ruby became intimidated by Winter’s demeanor.
“Ruby, I wanted to ask you.” Winter explains. “What made you interested in Weiss of all people?”
“Well, I confessed to Weiss about how I felt about her.” replied Ruby. “I actually developed feelings for her ever since we became teammates.”
“I’m listening…”
“I’d told Weiss that she was beautiful, skilled, and became kind to me overtime.”
“Interesting, I’ve never heard being described like that before.”
“Winter, why are you asking me all of this?”
“Let’s just say I’m not entirely in favor of both you and Weiss.”
“Says the woman who dated my uncle once…” Winter, shocked by what Ruby just said, became confused.
“Wait a minute, how do you know about that?!” A disheveled Winter asks.
“Uncle Qrow told me all about it…” Suddenly, Weiss, who was eavesdropping on the conversation, joined in.
“Winter…I want to know why.”
Winter then felt relieved. “I guess it’s because I envy you, Weiss. I just never found the time to date someone. And no, Qrow doesn’t really count.”
“What about Robyn? She can be a good fit for you.” Replied Weiss.
“Weiss, I don’t like hanging out with politicians.” Explained Winter. “Everyone would probably scrutinize me if I did.”
“You really don’t have that many options now, do you?”
“Anyway, why do you love Ruby so much?”
“To be honest, Winter, I’m happy to be with Ruby.” Weiss explains. “Not to mention she comforted me at my worst.”
“Oh, really?” A surprised Winter started smiling. “That’s good to hear.”
“So, can you please leave me and Ruby alone?” Weiss politely asked.
“Okay, I will.”
Later, Ruby and Weiss were in the same bed together, much like before. They were holding hands, cuddling, and listening to each other’s heartbeat. When Weiss decided to listen to Ruby’s heartbeat, that’s when Ruby weirded out.
“Uh, Weiss, why were you listening to my heartbeat?” A confused Ruby asked.
Weiss ended up giggling. “Silly Ruby, both of our hearts aren’t that different. You could listen to Blake’s or even Yang’s heartbeat and it wouldn’t be different.”
“You know what, fair enough.” Ruby then kisses Weiss a good night sleep.
“Good night, my dear Ice Queen…”
“Good night to you too, my little red riding hood…”
The following morning, as Team RWBY heads out, Winter suddenly calls out for Ruby’s attention. To Ruby’s surprise, she had her hair down, and was smiling, something she almost never did in years.
“Ruby, I have something to tell you…” A gleeful Winter tells Ruby.
“What is it?” She asked.
“Please take care of Weiss. I’m starting to understand why you love her so much…”
“I will, Winter.”
Meanwhile as they return to Mantle, Weiss and Yang had a heart-to-heart talk, mostly involving the former’s relationship with Ruby.
“I never thought that rainy night would end up being the start of your relationship with Ruby.” Yang laments.
“Yeah, I guess. But that’s just the result of me growing closer to Ruby after we became teammates.”
“I mean, we’re all family here.”
“Thanks, Yang.”
“Oh, and please take care of Ruby. You two are perfect for each other.”
“Okay, Yang, I will.”
As Ruby came running towards Weiss, the rest of Team RWBY wonder what to do next. Blake then suggests they check up on Penny, as she knows that Ruby has become worried. By the time Maria arrived, Ruby and Weiss held hands together, and as they board the airship, Winter ended up waving goodbye, knowing that it would be a while before they could see each other again.
