Rainy Day

Summary:

Diluc just being sweet with his partner (gender neutral)

Work Text:

The rain pelted the concrete and the umbrella that you use as a shield, you had your boyfriend Diluc to thank you for that, the wind started to pick up as you carried the necessary supplies for tonight’s dinner. You shivered slightly, you were still a good distance from the apartment where Diluc waited in the warmth and dry maybe you could call him. As you went to get your phone you remembered that he could be sleeping after another long night at the Angel share.

“Dammit, I should have just waited in the store for it to lighten up.” You grumbled as you continued the walk. After a few minutes, you could see the building, you quickened your pace and hurried inside as you heard the rain coming down harder. You waved to your neighbors and unlocked the door to a waiting Diluc with a worried face.

“What took you so long? Did something happen while you were out?” You handed him the bag and took your wet shoes off.

“Only the rain, I should have waited for it to not be so bad before coming back.” You muttered. Diluc took the bags before placing a soft kiss on your cheek shuffling to the kitchen.

“Go get a shower before you get a cold, I’ll prep for dinner.” You slipped all your wet clothes off and put them in the basket for Diluc to wash later.

“Can you make me something for me to drink for when I get out?” You yelled as you walked into the shower, he grunted in a response which was a yes. You turned the water on making sure the temperature was just right, the water washed away the cold and shivers from the earlier walk. The bathroom door opened as you stood under the waterfall, not yet washing. You could hear clothes falling to the floor and the curtain opened behind you.

“Decided to join me huh?” He nuzzled his face into your shoulder.

“You took so long I got worried that something happened.” You both stayed like that for a few more minutes before he moved to wash your hair.

“I didn’t mean to take so long; the rain was too hard for me to get home safely. It was you that requested this dish, don’t forget that.” He grumbled as he got some soap out.

“I do remember you promising me that for dinner, I wasn’t the one that suggested it.” He started washing your hair, slowly and methodically the only noise to be heard was the sound of the water hitting the shower bottom. After he was finished, he would slowly wash your back savoring the domestic tasks, these were moments that he would think about at work as his regulars like Venti would give him a headache. He never thought he would have things like this when he was younger and felt so alone, but here you are in his arms.

“Want me to wash you?” Your voice snapped him out of thought, he helped rinse the soap off you.

“Only if you want.” He looked away in embarrassment, he secretly loved when you washed his hair and massaged him. Pulling away from the stress of the day and the standards he places on himself. You both switched places, grabbed some soap, and started. He leaned into your hands as you started, you asked him about it once and he straight denied it. If he was a cat he would be purring up a storm but unfortunately, he’s not. Since you moved in with Diluc the rhythm of your relationship quickly fixed itself in your life, high notes and lows but the melody always lulled you back to him after a particularly bad fight or sorely rough day.

You remembered the first day you both had made dinner together; it was clumsy and a mess but you wouldn’t have traded it for anything else. That’s how your relationship is, clumsy messy, and somehow a sweet song.

You finished Diluc’s hair and washed away the soap, you could feel him being half asleep as you washed his body. He hasn’t lowered his guard like this in so long for anyone, you remember how jumpy and standoffish when you first started dating. No handholding or even hand touching in any form, no hugs, no physical touch. It took time and it took patience from both ends, but you wouldn’t have had it any other way.

“Luc I need you to get up a little bit, I don’t want you to get hurt.” He slowly got out of the shower grabbing the towel he set out. You wordlessly helped him dry off, starting with his hair and down. He would do the same for you after getting his nightclothes on, he helps you not because he feels like he has to or that you’re helpless he does it because he loves the domestic comfort that comes with helping you. The intimacy of drying your skin gingerly placing kisses on you as he goes, and the look you give him when he cups your face, everything about you makes him fall in love again and again.

“Ready to make dinner or do you want to stay on the couch while I cook?” He mumbled something in your shoulder that you couldn’t catch.

“What?” He pulled away and kissed your cheek.

“Go sit on the couch, I’ll make dinner.” You gave him a look.

“We can make dinner.” He smiled at you.
