Ignorance of Acknowledgement

Summary:

M/N was selected as the ultimate sacrifice to the gods- especially after years of drought and famine, he will be the one to bring prosperity.

Painfully killed, he ruefully cursed the living, as he ascended into the clouds. There, he waited for the gates of heaven to open.

Chapter Text

The corridors were silent as a mouse, not a creak or breath was heard. Moonlight shined through the glass panes, brightening the hallway. It reflected upon the armored stands that were held up by wood, and glistened on the portraits.

It was late, late at night when a tiny maiden stepped out into the hallway. A highlighted blonde with button eyes, and fair, pale skin, as she frowned. In her hands was a petite lamp; that lit her chest.

Cautiously, the gal walked out, looking around suspiciously, before signaling the other.

Soft grey hair glittered in the reflected light, as cold black eyes wandered around, until finally landing on the blonde. A faint smile appeared, but disappeared just as quickly.

"Let's go. It's the perfect time." The grey whispered, grabbing the blonde's wrist. Without complaint, the duo sprinted through the corridors, trying to lighten themselves like a mouse.

Each time they paused, an intimidating guard trudged by holding a nasty crossbow. They held their breaths as one made eye contact, but broke it instantly.

As they passed by others, they slowly made it to their destination. It was a separated hallway, connected to only one other, and was blocked off at the end. In this specific hallway, the moon gleamed brighter.

The duo slowed their sprinting into a walking, as they studied each portrait with boredom until they reached their air of interest.

They stopped directly under it, looking up like children. "This- this is it. The key to what happened years ago..." The blonde exclaimed softly, squeezing her companions hand. The other stayed silent, as E/C eyes stared down at them.

They looked so... proper- so neat. Their hair was gently combed to the side, portraying a waved fashion. Their irises were dabbed with the colors of the rainbow, glinting in shades of green, to purple, to brown, pink, red, orange, black, white, blue, and yellow.

They wore a stylish white gown; which folded beneath their regal stance. To which the blonde thought was bland. Between the white gown, a bloody gash bleed on their heart. It was a sickly red, and ghostly purple, yet was intriguingly normal to the duo's eyes. They had fared much worse injuries from others.

A golden crown weighed upon their head, fluffed by their H/C locks. Crafted rather... poorly with a single jewel resonating on the front. None the less, they wore it accordingly and with... pride?

The duo couldn't tell the emotion on the person. Whether it be sadness, or pain, or sorrow, jubilation, fear, excitement. They couldn't tell.

However, what caught their undying attention was their gender.

Every single sacrifice was female, no matter the decade or century. Even the grey haured, herself was a sacrifice, yet they were male? Why? "Eve, look." 'Eve' looked to her acquaintance.

"He was from the country of Percival, like you!" Eve glared at the writing below the portrait. "Percival? Percival is a small country, not even the pope-" She spat out "-recognizes it's existence, Amara."

'Amara' frowned, "Don't be like that, Eve. You should be happy to see another citizen of your own." She scolded, smacking her arm. "I get it, but it's not like I'm going to see him. It's been years since any one has saw him."

Amara sighed. "Yes, I know. He was the last. I remember it like yesterday when he showed up." She snickered. "Poor thing." She moped. "Yeah, yeah, Amara. We should head back. The others would get suspicious."

"They're such snitches. Afraid of the whittle gods-" Eve grabbed onto her chin. "Shut up-" Eve widened her eyes, "What is it now, Eve?" Amara rolled her eyes before getting tugged away. "What's your problem, Eve?" She yapped, resisting.

"The painting is right there! Let's just investigate a little more," Amara scrounged her nose at the deadly silence. "I could if you hadn't spoke!" Amara only shrunk back in fear as her friend glared at her. "Do you know what you've done-? They respond to anyone saying their name!" Eve frowned before gasping. "Shit-"

"What are you doing out of the servants quarters?"
