It was an average day of working at the Meta-human youth center. Ed stood in a room, organizing boxes. It was supposed to be a separate office.
He wiped a bit of sweat off his forehead, and grabbed the almost empty water bottle on the floor next to him. He loved Taos, but sometimes the heat was insufferable.
As Ed was taking the final sip of his water, a gust of wind flew through the room.
That's odd..
The windows in the room were open, but there was no wind outside. Ed smiled a little and figured out the only possibility to this unusual wind.
Bart
Ed turned around and saw Bart. He was wearing his Kid Flash uniform. A smile was plastered on his face
"Hola amigo." Ed greeted.
"What's up her-man-o" Bart said, butchering his speech. He sped over into Ed and hugged him.
The hug wasn't unusual. Bart was a very physical person, even when they first met. It took a while to get used to. But now Ed found the hugs and touches comforting.
Bart pulled back from the hug and frowned a little.
"I can't stay long, I actually kinda have to be quick about this"
Ed tilted his head, confused
"What's wrong?"
Bart sighed "I have to do this mission... and to be honest I shouldn't even be telling you about it." Bart confessed.
Ed's eyebrows shifted into a confused, but curious expression.
Bart continued, "I don't know how long I'm going to be gone for." Bart leaned against Ed and shoved his face into Ed's chest.
"Please don't tell the league, or anybody-" Bart looked up at Ed with sad eyes.
"I just wanted to say goodbye"
Ed blushed a little at that. It was... nice. Bart rarely got sad or serious with him. Only about 3 times. The first being after Wally's death.
"You're not in danger right? I can help you-" Ed said
Bart backed away from the other boy and shook his head.
"I should be fine-okay? I mean I always am." Bart said trying to put a smile on his face. But the other boy was still worried.
"What if something happens to you?" Ed asked
Bart smiled a little
"Ed if I didn't know any better I'd say you're worried about me."
Ed blushed and rolled his eyes.
"Ed, we're superheros" Bart said "Everything we do is dangerous and puts us at risk. But I have to do this, it's for the good."
Ed frowned. He knew Bart was right. He felt so stupid to even be worried. It was Bart! He was a superhero after all, they're always risking their lives.
But it was Bart
Ed felt different around him. He was more special. So obviously when Bart comes around out of nowhere to say goodbye and tell Ed not to tell the league, he's gonna worry!
"Okay okay, there'd be no stopping you anyways." Ed smiled.
Bart ran over to Ed and gave him another hug. Ed hugged Bart back.
"I just care about you Bart." Ed said
Bart pulled a little away from the others boy's grasp. A blush covering his face.
Ed was also blushing, mostly of embarrassment.
"I-uhm..I didn't mean for that to sound so weir-"
But before Ed could finish his sentence, Bart leaned closer to the boy and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"I care about you too", Bart whispered quietly in Ed's ear. Standing on his tiptoes.
Bart moved away from Ed's face. Smiling.
"I hope that was okay-" Bart said nervously.
Ed was confused, but happy. Really happy. He'd been crushing on Bart for a while. It was kinda obvious too.
"That was..." Ed paused, and raised his hand to where Bart had kissed him. "More then okay." Ed said smiling sheepishly
Bart let out a sigh of relief and laughed just a little.
Bart rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Well uhm, bye-"
"Wait-!" Ed said, grabbing Barts hand before he could fully turn around and speed away.
Bart looked at him with curious eyes.
"Please be safe.." Ed said
Bart smiled and nodded his head. Ed let go of his hand, and Bart ran away.
That day, Bart left more then a hug.
