Chapter Text
Another school year at Bullworth Academy had finally come to a end, and to celebrate, Mrs. Danvers and Mr. Crabblesnitch had promised to take all of the grade 10’s to the beach on the last day of school, before everyone went home.
You where in the girls dorm, changing into a beautiful bright blue bikini.
Your beach bag was already packed with sunscreen, your sunglasses, goggles for the three boys, chapstick, and a water bottle. Your dorm room was empty except for the couple of boxes of stuff by her bed.
You heard a knock at the door and a boy snickering.
You threw on your white cover-up and yelled, “Come in!” The three boys, Gary, Pete, and Jimmy entered your dorm room.
They were in their swim trunks, flip flops, and tshirts. “Hey Y/N, You ready?” Pete says, looking at the ceiling, avoiding looking at you. The other boys do the same.
Gary shoves him out of the way and he sits on your bed. “Gary, be nice. Um.. Why are you avoiding looking at me?”
Gary mutters, “Your bikini..” You gasp and immediately cover up your body with your cover-up. Jimmy laughs. “It’s a swimsuit, you idiots.” You smack Jimmy on the arm.
“It doesn’t help that Gary has a massive crush on you.” Petey shrugs. Gary kicks him, sending him to the floor. “Ouch..” You help him up, scolding Gary in the process.
“Come on, stop it!” you yell. “Hey, Y/N, is it cool if I borrow your sunglasses?” Pete asks. You nod, “Grab them from my bag.”
“What time is it?” you ask no one in particular, Gary showing you his phone. “
Ok, we have to be on the bus at 10, it’s 9:48 now, let’s go. You guys got everything you need?” The boys nod, Jimmy taking your bag. You open the door.
It was bittersweet, walking out of the girl’s dorm, knowing that they wouldn’t be back at Bullworth for the summer, but you were ready for the break.
You were absolutely over this school year, the tiring classes, the strict teachers, the rigid rules.
The Nerds were already on the bus, the Greasers standing in a group by the bus, the Bullies were late, the Preps were taking a different bus entirely, the Jocks were also in the back of the bus, yelling at the students passing by through the windows.
One of the Jocks, Damon, wolf whistled at Y/N. “Lookin’ nice!” Gary flipped him off, “Screw you, Damon!”
Kirby stuck his head out of the window and pointed to Pete. “I like your sunglasses, you queer!”
Mrs. Danvers snatched him out of the window and started yelling at him. “Don’t listen to him, Petey, they look nice on you.” Jimmy said, you nod along, patting him on the back. Jimmy nudged Gary to try to get him to agree, but Gary just shoved him back.
Pete just rolled his eyes and took the sunglasses off.
“Everyone please get on the bus!” Mr. Crabblesnitch shouts. “Our carriage awaits.”
You and the guys get on the bus and sit two rows behind the Nerds. You and Gary on one side, Gary made sure of that, and Jimmy and Pete on the other side.
“Y/N, he was just joking. I don’t actually like you like that.” “Ok.” “Not that I don’t like you, just not like that.” “Ok.” “Ok.” Gary laughs, nervously.
The Bullies and some more people enter the school bus, and Mrs. Danvers starts to give a short speech about how they needed to behave.
“And if you don’t behave, I will put you on the bus, and you can sit there, the rest of the day!”
Everyone nods, joking and chatting to the person next to them. “Well, we got 30 minutes of talking. You wanna start?” Gary whispers.
“What are you doing for the summer?” Gary sighs. “Probably staying home, my parents never let me do anything. You?” He turns to look at you, resting his cheek on the back seat.
“Some shopping, Algonquin is the best. Probably visit Jimmy, his stepfather lives next to my Grandparents in Meadow Hills.”
Gary scoffed at the mention of Jimmy. “You gonna visit me and Petey?” He crosses his arms. “Of course, Gary.” You smile at him.
Gary uncrosses his arms, content with your answer. A small smile creeps onto his face.
A beach ball is thrown over the seat, and you accidentally catch it. “Guys!” you giggle, standing up and throwing it back to the Jocks.
Gary watches you as you throw the ball back and forth with the jocks. Gary had a crush on her ever since they met at orientation, Y/N with her parents and Gary with his mother. She was in a bright yellow dress, contrasting from the drab gray everyone else was wearing.
People stared at her like she just did a crime, and Gary definitely stared too, but he stared only to admire her. Not to judge her.
“Knock it off, Miss L/N!” Mrs. Danvers yells over to you. “But the boys started it!” Mrs. Danvers stands up from her seat in the front of the bus. ”I don’t care!” “Fine.” You sigh.
And you sit back down. Gary laughs at you, “Wow, talking back to Mrs. Danvers. I have really rubbed off on you this year.” He sighs. “Yeah right. The Jocks started it. That’s why I’m angry.”
He playfully shoves you, saying, “Damn, Y/N.” You slap his hand, as you gasp dramatically. He rolls his eyes, chuckling at you.
“You wanna play two truths and a lie?” Jimmy yells over to you guys. “Hell yeah!” You say, nodding to Gary.
He nods as well, desperate to please you. He also nods, knowing this was his last chance to tell you how he feels. In a subtle way, of course
“Ok, Petey, start.” Pete laughs, a bit uncomfortably, since Jimmy just got this idea and then he immediately roped you and Gary into playing with him.
“Ok, um, ok, I have a twin, um, my favorite color is green, and I really like French Toast.” He giggles sheepishly. “Petey, are you serious? Are you fucking with us?” Jimmy laughs uncontrollably.
You give up on keeping a straight face and laugh out loud.
“You have a French Toast sticker on your notebook. Normal people don’t have that.” Gary chuckles. “And you almost joined the Astronomy club just because the members get to wear green uniforms.” You giggle.
“You couldn’t think of a better lie than ‘I have a twin brother’?” Pete rolls his eyes while the rest of you laugh at his expense.
“Ok,” You pause to laugh. Pete gives you a dirty look and you calm yourself down.
“I love watermelon, I have a crush on someone in the school, and I have two dogs.” Gary widens his eyes at the mention of a crush. “You have one dog, Y/N! Daphne!” Jimmy gives you finger guns and you nod. “Wait, that means you have a crush! On who?” Pete gasps.
“Hey, that’s not a part of the game! You can’t ask me that!” You laugh. “My turn.” Gary roughly interrupts you.
“I also have a crush. I once blackmailed a nerd to do my homework for two months. And I love cats.” Jimmy laughs. “Gary, you hate cats. That one is obviously a lie.” You laugh, looking at him, your gaze lingering on him a little too long.
He looks into your eyes, a couple seconds after he noticed you looking at him, letting you stare at him for a few seconds. “It was three months.” “What was?” “The blackmail.” You giggle and you clear your throat and look back at the two boys sitting in the seats beside you. “It was three months.” “What was?” “The blackmail.”
The boys turned away from you, obviously sensing the tention between. You turn back, facing straight forward, staring at your hands.
“So, you’ve got a crush? On who?” He looks at you, smirking. You turn to look at him, your eyebrows thrown up in a playful manner.
“I can’t say..” You giggle. He smiles at you, staring at your lips. You try not to blush, and you continue.
“Well you have a crush as well!” You laugh. He leans close to you, his confidence levels off the chain.
**“Well, I don’t know about you, but my crush is on you.”**
