I woke up with a horrible headache as light streamed through the window falling on my bed.”hey human wake up!!!” Grim yelled “I want to eat” I rolled over and covered my ears, it now made sense why my head felt so bad
“five more minutes grim” I mumbled out slowly closing my eyes.I knew I wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep after Grim’s intrusion to my dream but it was nice to at least try. Esccipally since it was the weekend and we didn’t have any classes to worry about.
“Please wake up I want to eatttt” Grim whined hitting me softly with his front paws making me snicker “Okay Grim just go outside for a few minutes so I can get ready” I explained sitting up and stretching. Grim slowly floats out of the room as I stand up staring out the window as I wait for him to leave as soon as I hear the door close I sigh softly and close the curtains. As I take off my extra large sleeping shirt I reach over to grab my binder dragging it over my head down to my chest sighing in relief of finally being flat again I reach over to the chair dragging my favorite hoodie on. Finally I put on my pants a comfy pair of jeans that I stuff with my homemade packer consitsing of socks before I zip it up it still feels a bit uncomfortable since I only started using it a bit before I got transferred(?) here it was a bit weird putting on my comfy wolly socks I hop over to the door still dragging my left one up. Opening the door I see Grim sitting on the floor right next to my door dozing. Sighing I pick him up he honestly isn’t that hard to carry when he isn’t actively trying to escape to go burn something. Honestly even if he was an handful he was still my friend and the only dormate I had since I got here.Setting him down softly on the couch I started to cook breakfast for myself and opening a can of tuna for Grim and setting down on the small coffee table in front of the couch knowing that eventually it would wake Grim up. Cracking open some eggs I salted them and slowly watched them cook to a beautiful opac yellow and creamy white taking them off the heat I grabbed a heat pad and set them down on the table slowly eating them before washing the pan as Grim woke up and ate the tuna. Finally after an hour or so we walked outside to the warm spring day strolling along the path to the library waving to Ace and Duce as we passed them running from Jade and Flyod on the way Ace stopping for a second to wave back until he got grabbed by Deuce we laughed the rest of the way to the library. Once we got there I headed to the fiction section as Grim went to go check out some books to increase his fire magic or something I wasn’t really paying attention all I know is he promised not to burn down the library and thats all I can really ask form him anymore. Scavenging through the fiction section for the next book on my to read list since I had finished The mango prince and since it was a tear jerker this one was a classic romance story prince meets girl falls in love and then they end up happy ever after it was one that I had read many times even watching it in the theater when it came out apparently it was popular here in fact It was only fiction books that I could reconizise from my world as well, reaching for it my hand brushes against another as we both grab the same book insigivly I let go looking for who else grabbed the book “Hey do you want to read this with me?” I hear from behind me seeing Kalim grinning holding the book I knew Kalim from classes he was my senior a year and from what I could tell a heir to some sort of fortune by stories I was told of his extravagant spending on miniscule things as I analized him he oppended his mouth “Oh im sorry you probably don’t know who I am” he chuckled “I am Kalim al-asim dormhead of scarabia who are you?” he asked grinning from ear to ear “I know who you are” I snapped saying it much harsher then intended walking away I looked for the next book on my list if I was going to be honest I tried to avoid richer people essipaclly people who spent a lot on smaller things for no reason other then to spend I guess it was because I had to save up my whole life before coming here and still didn’t have enough to get top surgery while they could probably buy the whole hospital if they felt like it and still have enough to live comfortably for the rest of their days if not their kids and gran kids as well.After a while of searching I sat down and dropped my head on the table slumping my shoulders. Apparently the other books on my list were all checked out by someone doing studies on fiction for writing inpsoration or something I don’t really know the dude kept doging my questions till he eventually just ran with the books not even letting me check out one of them out. Which I honestly thought was the rudest thing that had happened to me since Crowly said I would be the only female student right after I told him my name and pronouns which I hit him for it wasn’t my fault I was taken here on one of my non-binding days he seemed to be the only one who noticed anyway he uses the right ones now but it was still rude sighing loudly I start to close my eyes. waking up I heard the librarian yelling at me for staying after closing quickly I stood up and apologized and started to leave until she told me to not leave my book, looking back I saw the book I snapped at kalim for sitting on the table with a bright yellow sticky note on top snatching up the book I ran out of the library and didn’t stop till I got back to Ramshackle which definitely broke the binding rules but I didn’t care. Slamming the door behind me I slumped down on the floor as grim came up to me “You left me alone for hours you’re so lucky I don’t have functional thumbs right now” he hissed
“Sorry Grim I thought you would’ve woken me up since we were both at the library” I growled “Its not my fault you fell asleep now is it?” Grim spat as though it made any difference since he literally could’ve woken me up. “Why didn’t you wake me up anyway?” I sighed knowing there was no reason arguing with a cat that could literally kill me if he wanted too functional thumbs or not.”There was someone sitting by you reading aloud I thought you hanging out with them I didn’t want to get involved” he stated “I didn’t know you were asleep” this changed a lot including the fact that apparently Kalim did in fact mean he wanted to read the book with me but more confusingly why he read it to me while I was asleep instead of waking me up though thinking about it that was probably fair considering I did get mad at him “Well im going to sleep Grim we can hangout with Ace and Duce tomorrow at their movie night thing okay?” I sighed hoping that Grim would just let me be, since this was a lot to absorb all at once and plus I was still pretty tired from running with my binder on “okay see you tomorrow just making sure though you aren’t going into hibernation right?” he chuckled “No grim I’m not going to hibernate can I go to bed now?” I groaned he nodded and moved honestly if he hadn’t I would’ve had half a mind to kick him out of my way. As I truged up the stairs I thought about why he would read to me or with me instead of with snake boy his vice dormhead whose name I didn’t know but I think snake boy fits him so thats who he is now opening my door and closing it I get undressed struggling to take off my binder due to the sweat I acquired while running when I finally go it off I changed into my old sports bra/ oversized shirt night ware which honestly wasn’t that bad of hiding my chest but wearing it reminds me of my baby trans summer days with a hoodie on, now I can laugh but back then it was not the funnest thing to ever happen pretty sure I got heat stroke at least once. Grabbing the book from the side table I ran my hand over the pages well loved and well read Looking at the sticky note I laughed a little “Hey we should do this again sometime does monday work for you :) - Kalim (ps. Sorry for scaring you)”.
