With Christopher at his abuela's, Eddie was sitting on his couch not really paying attention to the game he had on. Mostly it was on for background noise.
He was thinking about the fight he had with Buck at the grocery store and how absolutely gutted Buck had looked after he (Eddie) called him exhausting.
Dios, soy un gilipollas. He thought, feeling disgusted with himself. Some best friend I am.
Eddie knew Buck had been struggling, between the truck bombing, the tsunami, the perception of being replaced and the apparent lack of being missed by the team. And it's probably the last two reasons that drove Buck into the 'welcoming' arms of that sleazy lawyer.
He grabbed his phone determined to communicate with Buck.
U busy?
It was a few minutes before he got a response.
Why?
Not the most encouraging response, but at least he wasn't being ignored.
U want to come over?
Buck's reply took a little longer than his previous text.
I don't know. Maybe. Is Christopher there?
He's at abuela's for the weekend.
Oh.
A few minutes passed before Eddie texted Buck again.
I’m sorry that I’ve been such a dick to you. Forgive me?
U have beer?
Yeah.
I'll be there in ½ hr.
I'll be waiting. Eddie texted back, smiling.
