Chapter Text
It never failed to surprise her.
The feeling she got whenever it happened.
(She doesn’t quite remember exactly when it started, but she does remember feeling an instant connection when they first met. It was probably due to the fact that they were both coming into something already established. That they were both the new kids.)
She had thoughts. And a lot of them. Just swirling around in her head. Most nights and throughout the day.
“Gahyeon.”
She still remembers it vividly. Can still feel the ghost of her fingertip brushing down her cheek.
“Gahyeon.”
She wonders what it would be like to-
“Gahyeon!”
A startled Gahyeon looks over to her left to see Siyeon with a concerned look on her face. “Huh?”
“I had to call you multiple times. Are you okay?”
“Yeah. I was just thinking.”
“About?”
“Nothing.”
“Are you sure? Because you’ve- “
“Unnie. I’m fine, really.”
Siyeon looks at her with skepticism for a little while before seemingly letting it go and for that she is grateful.
However, Gahyeon knows she wasn’t fooled.
“Okay, well. We’re already back at the dorms.”
That’s when she realizes that she and Siyeon are the only ones left in the car. She then quickly scrambles out with her things, but not before tossing Siyeon an embarrassed, but grateful smile over her shoulder.
Once Gahyeon crosses through the threshold, she immediately makes a beeline for her bedroom, thoughts from the car ride still plaguing her mind and plops on her bed with a resounding huff.
(Today was just one of those days. One of those endless exhausting days that seemed like it would never end. Not to mention how it felt like they had more schedules than usual.)
Gahyeon was still feeling the embarrassment from earlier in the day, which was made worse by what happened in the car. It led her to feel a little bit upset with herself. She is an experienced idol! Things like this shouldn’t be happening. The mistake she made, almost losing her que during a performance, is something that would be unforgiven for even a rookie, let alone herself who has at least five years in the industry under her belt. She tries not to dwell on it too much. She is human after all. And it did seem like no one cared.
She sighs as she gets up to start getting ready for bed but stops in her tracks when she hears the sound of her door opening.
It’s Handong.
Oh shit.
Oh shit.
Handong is her roommate. Her roommate.
She had forgotten for a while when she was too busy drowning in her thoughts that Handong would be coming in.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
“Are you okay? I saw you rush in here when I was in the kitchen.”
“Yeah. It’s just been a long day.”
Handong sighs out a chuckle. “I hear you. I’m tired too. I’m actually going to turn in early tonight.”
“Goodnight unnie.”
“Goodnight Hyeonie.”
With that Handong turned around and went to get ready for bed.
