À vaillant coeur rien d’impossible

Summary:

Rapunzel wants to talk to Eugene and Cassandra about her feelings- this time it isn't about the roadtrip and Zhan Tiri.

Notes:

OKAY so this is before Cass’s whole arc while they’re still traveling. I haven't watched the series in a LIL bit so I’m forgetting exactly where I want them to be in the journey but you can imagine it whenever during it lol.

SOrry it's short this is my first fanfic ever !! I've only ever written for roleplays before so this was new <33

Chapter 1: The admission

Chapter Text

The vast outdoors was breath-taking with the canyons that littered the area below, and mountains that formed a bowl around the area. Sun bounced off the river, laying beautiful light-work along the nearby rocks and trees. The floral smell of the meadows cascaded over the trio as they laid in the grass and flowers, laughing breathlessly. Rapunzel was spread out with her arms reaching for Eugene and Cassandra, her grip on their hands loose but still present.

“So, Blondie, you have a map back to the campgrounds right?” Eugene squeezed Rapunzel’s hand, smiling. He knew full well where they were, and where they’d left the horses and the caravan.

A giggle erupts from Rapunzel, who squeezed his hand back, moving her arm to try and get him closer. “Yes, Eugene. We’re not that far.”

Getting the hint, Eugene scooches closer, pressing a kiss to Rapunzel’s forehead before laying back down.

“Anyways, I think we all need the alone time from Lance.” Rapunzel shrugged, still giggling as Eugene played with her hair. “But I wanted to talk to you.”

“Should I go back?” Cassandra cut in dryly, her eyes rolling.

“No, Cass, this is about you too.” Rapunzel pulled on her hand now, trying to get her to come closer.

“Oh?” Eugene hummed, raising an eyebrow at Cass, before looking back to Rapunzel. He had an idea what she wanted to talk about, but he’d no idea that she wanted him here to talk about it. If it was what he was thinking.

Cassandra finally gave in and came closer, laying her head close to Rapunzel’s. The princess almost pulled her in further, if it was possible. She heard an embarrassed grunt from Cass.

“I wanted to talk about my feelings, for you. Both of you.” The princess said it bluntly, biting at her lip. “Eugene… you already know how I feel about you, you both know, I think. But I want to say it… out loud.” The words didn’t come out how she wanted, but Rapunzel continued.

“Eugene, you’re my whole world.” She kissed his cheek. “You’re the one who saved me from the tower…. You showed me the world for the first time, and I can’t thank you enough. I love you with my whole heart, and I love the way you are..” Cassandra shuffled uncomfortably next to her, looking around.

“Cass.” Rapunzel turned to look at her friend, eyes shining. “You’re the one who doesn’t know.”

“Raps, I’m not sure what you’re trying to say-...” Cassandra laughed nervously, like she didn’t want to hear what came next. But Rapunzel was sure she was ready for it.

“I love you. More than a friend, Cass.” Rapunzel breathed out the words like she’d been holding them in too long, and Eugene squeezed her hand.

Cassandra had sucked in a breath, swallowing audibly.

“You’re the moon to my sun, if you pardon the visual.” Rapunzel stared at Cassandra, who laughed. Her eyes stared into the sky, and her cheeks were almost as red as her lips. “You’re… well… Cass, you’re..” Rapunzel let go of Eugene’s hand, blinking at him in thanks, before turning over to look at Cass fully. “You’re one of my best friends. But you’re more than that. I love you like I love Eugene, truly I do.” None of this was coming out how she wanted, and Rapunzel almost felt like she was about to tear up. Eugene took to rubbing at her back to help ease her.

“I want to be with you, both of you… I know it’s… weird, maybe. Not normal, I guess, but..” Cassandra turned onto her side to look at Rapunzel’s own blushed face as she continued. “Cass, Eugene and I have already spoken about it and… I want to know if you want to be my… Well, how do I put this… my girlfriend?”

Rapunzel had a look on her face, one that showed she was nervous and, even though she’d said it, the princess was feeling a bit shy. Eugene wrapped an arm around her, giving her a squeeze of encouragement. He’d say something to help, but this was Rapunzel and Cass’s moment.

“Uh..” Cassandra started, before putting a hand to her mouth in surprise, eyes wide. This wasn’t a dream. It wasn’t? “Rapunzel, I… Are you sure? You… I mean.” She wasn’t sure what to say. She’d never really… thought this would be an option. Sure, Cass had had some dreams about being with Rapunzel, but normally they’d been about stealing her from Eugene. They’d always made her feel bad about it though. She didn’t want to take Rapunzel from Eugene, but… this was a good option… Rapunzel and Eugene laid quietly while Cassandra tried to put the puzzle together in her head.

“I’m sure, Cass.” Rapunzel spoke softly, putting her hand gently on Cassandra’s cheek.

“And I’m sure we’ll both make her happier, together.” Eugene piped up, having leaned up to look at Cassandra. He wanted her to be sure he didn’t feel envious. He really didn’t. At first, he felt it.. A little, but.. Rapunzel has a heart big enough for both of them, and he truly loves them both.

Cassandra licked at her lips, her eyes clearly flicking from Rapunzel’s lips to Eugene’s eyes. “Okay… so… how do we do this?”

“I don’t know.” Rapunzel admitted, looking up at Eugene. “But I want you to feel comfortable being with me. With us, I guess.” She laughed, bumping her forehead against Eugene’s.

Cassandra puts a hand on Rapunzel’s cheek, pulling her gently away from Eugene. Green eyes meet, staring, before Cassandra pulls Rapunzel into a kiss. It was a surprise, but not an unwanted one…. And Cassandra needs it, Rapunzel realizes as she kisses her back, closing her eyes. Rapunzel moves to hold Cassandra’s shoulder, giving her a squeeze.

As the kiss ends, Rapunzel opens her eyes to find Cass staring at her, red as a rose. Like she can’t believe what happened.

“Well, looks like you two need to talk.” Eugene chuckles, shifting behind Rapunzel. He gives her a quick kiss on the cheek before getting up. “I’m going to go find Max.” He starts off towards the camper before turning to look at the two women, who both stare up at him, Cassandra a bit shyly.

“I love you both.” He adds on, with a grin. “Don’t stay out too late.” And with that, Eugene is off, chuckling to himself as he goes to find Maximus and Fidella.
