Work Text:

tommy tasted of oranges.

he reminded wilbur of citrus and dandelions, warm spring mornings where the sun is a perfect shade of gold and the weather is just right. tommy bloomed of light touches and promises to be fulfilled by kisses. he smelled of sunlight and scalding hot tea. he was everything wilbur loved in a person.

mornings like this were wilbur’s favorites.

dawn would meet wilbur’s tired, insomnia beaten eyes. the sun would emit perfect golden rays as he sat on the porch, in some desperate attempt to clear his head. his lover slept calmly inside, bundled up under their pale colored comforter - light snores and breaths accompanying the blonds peaceful state. wilbur would watch the sun rise, and let himself be alone in his head. for once, his thoughts seemed to calm. his worries were at bay, everything was alright for now. he held a gentle smile, one of pure contentment.

sitting there in the mornings was one of wilbur’s favorite pastimes. the sun was so warm, it’d lull you into oblivion and into a relaxed state, where your head would only quiet. he knew that soon, tommy would join him here, and would hold wilbur as he lied his head on his lover’s lap.

tommy would fiddle with wil’s brown curls. he’d murmur sweet nothings to his boyfriend, thoughts and promises that were somnolent and tender. he’d whisper things that he couldn’t say in words to anyone but wilbur. his love for wil, the promises to always be beside him, how much he treasured the man who was now in a calm stupor on his lap. it was tommy’s favorite pastime.

in only a few minutes, wilbur would be asleep, and tommy would watch dawn turn to daylight.

he would watch his lover’s face relax, his mind finally being at ease. tommy’s head would fog with his usual morning drowsiness, and he’d hold wilbur tenderly, feeling more loved and cared for than he’d ever known.

a kiss was planted on wilbur’s forehead, one that would remind him of citrus all the same, one that felt like sunlight itself. a soft mumble followed.

“good morning,”
