ABILITIES
• As the Black Dragon Warrior, he has the ability to hear through the distance, like the Blue Dragon. He can also read minds and thoughts, because of that, he can also hear what a person will do next, such as in the battles, he can read their movements.
Another ability of the Black Dragon is that he can control one's body when staring at the eyes of the person he chooses to manipulate— although it's not necessary for him to transfer his spirit/soul into one's body, but rather, only controlling them using his eyes (to be explained more). Using this ability has too much risk and can cause him temporary blindness and a weakened body as a result, that's why Ren is not using it very much unless it is necessary.
• He wasn't called a Demon Cat, for nothing. He has a flexible body like a cat's. He is also fast and nimble, and it was said that when he is fighting a worthy opponent, his eyes will glow.
• For someone who looked quite weak in terms of his appearance; as he's not as tall and lean as Hak and Shin-ah, Ren is actually quite strong and has a supernatural strength that even if he's not using any weapons, his hand-to-hand combat is something that one cannot underestimate.
CHARACTERISTICS
Appearance
Ren appears as a young teenage male often seen with a nonchalant smile on his face. He has fair skin, black hair with fringes framing his face. His eyes are sharp and angular; prior to his awakening as the Black Dragon Warrior back in his childhood, Ren's eyes were golden-amber in color.
His outfit consists of a black kimono and grey obi. He ties black ribbons in a crisscross pattern over the lower half of his sleeves, and he wears black slacks and ankle boots. He usually wears a cloak, with three buttons on the upper left part.
Personality

Ren is someone one could call, an enigmatic, charismatic and nonchalant person. He is always seen with a nonchalant look and smile on his face, making him to appear carefree and friendly at least; although, people around him have a hard time understanding Ren and who he really is.
Prior to the story, Ren is a cheerful and bright person, however, after losing his parents and his home from a group of bandits, Ren changed from being cheerful and bright to someone who's carefree, nonchalant and someone who doesn't care of what others think of him; making him to appear as quite selfish. He does whatever he wants and doesn't listen to anyone else if he thought that their words and actions are useless.
Ren, however, if a person gets into his bad side, expect him that he's not as merciful or forgiving of that person, showing that he's not someone you would want to mess up with to. He can beat a person up without caring if he's half-dead; he's very violent as well when he gets very angry, and he won't hesitate on beating them up until he feels satisfied. Although, this side of him was only seen a few times, whenever Yona is in danger or if someone tried to lay a hand on her.
On the other hand, despite his combination of eccentric character, Ren cares for his allies, and he may not show it like Kija, but he values the bonds and relationship he has with his fellow Dragon Warriors. As one's ally, expect Ren to be loyal to them and will do anything for them; protect them or even kill for them.
Ren is straightforward with his words, making him to come out as blunt, and he is not afraid to voice if there's something wrong.
On the other hand, Ren has this favorite hobby of is, which is he likes teasing and mocking Hak, which always ended up him, being whacked on his head.
Background
Prior to him, becoming Yona's bodyguard, Ren lives with his parents in a small but lively village located near the Earth Tribe. He was living a pretty peaceful life, until their village got claimed by the bandits themselves and took all the women and children as their slaves, while they killed off the men.
It was then at that time when Ren awakened as the Black Dragon Warrior, and he killed the entirety of the bandits with his bare hands. Because of this display though, Ren was shunned by the villagers (mostly women and children) and was driven off from the village.
Ren became a traveler then in just his young age, and on his travels, he would take down all the bandits he crossed paths with and he would take their valuables as his own in order for him to survive.
This continued for more years, until he crossed paths with a young Princess Yona, who was being picked on by some children (who he never knew where they came from) and saved her from them by beating them up. Again, it was that time when Ren met King Il as well, and with the King seeing how he protected Yona, he offered Ren to be her bodyguard and work for him. Although Ren was quite hesitant, he thought that it doesn't matter anyways and went with the flow.

TRIVIA
– On his past time, he likes creating flower crowns and giving it to Yona for her to wear it.
– Ren is a light drinker; even if he just take one sip of a sake, he instantly gets drunk and according to Hak (and Soo-Won), Ren gets very clingy and annoying whenever he's drunk.
– He gets very angry and would flip someone who tries to wake him up very rudely. One of the victims was Hak.
