Work Text:
The setting sun bathed the city in a beautiful orange glow, one that never ceased to amaze Phillip each time he saw it. Yet with it came a sense of sadness. The day would soon be at an end. Tomorrow would come, bringing with it many unknowns.
Phillip was drawn from his musings by a questioning hum next to him.
Min, in the setting sun, looked radiant. The little blush he could see on her face warmed his heart as much as the sun on his back did. She was staring down at his hand, the one holding onto hers.
He gave it a squeeze. She looked up at him with a fond, embarrassed smile. "It’s strange…"
"My hand?" She looked away but nodded. He shook it gently, being careful not to let go of her. "It is. It does so much."
"It does not feel like a hand. It fits like one, but." Min turned to him and began running her fingers along his arm. "It does not feel like one."
The sensation of the fingers along his arm felt like what Phillip imagined electricity on a rubber glove would feel like. Or if he was to poke a sleeve filled with jelly and wrapped in cling film. Strange, but no less comforting than if she had done it to his human arm.
"It doesn’t work like one, either." Phillip gently tugged his hand free before it changed from a hand into a long sword, rigid and stiff. It changed again into a wriggly tentacle that sent slimy chills up the rest of his arm before morphing back into a hand. "Have you ever seen a human hand do that?"
Min quietly laughed. Her laugh sounded like bells tinkling in the wind, and it never failed to send a jolt right to Phillip’s heart. "No. I have not. Though maybe Sia might have."
Phillip chuckled. "She might have." Carefully, he reached out and caressed Min’s cheek. She wrapped her hand over his and blushed even more at the action. "But then I like being here. With you, I mean."
"Me too. Uh, I mean, I like being here with you, too!" Min bashfully looked away from him, but soon looked back at him. "Thank you, Phillip."
"No." Phillip closed the distance and gently pressed a kiss to her head. "Thank you, Min."
