This story was from a few month after Michi was officialized as one of the Sano's (though grandpa said to keep the name as it is, without changing anything).
On one afternoon, Shinichiro woke up after being patted a little bit hardly but still felt soft a few times by Michi's soft tiny hands— at that time, Michi was just almost eight years old, if Shinichiro remembered it correctly. Michi woke him up, and what came into his vision was his youngest brother on top of him, face full of snots and tears, lips trembled and curved downside. He, of course, panicked.
Like.. that was the very first time Michi cried so badly like that. Even when Manjirou and his shitty humour pranked the younger one with a big toad-shaped toy, Michi was not crying at all. He just casually patted the toy's head while saying, "Hello, mister big frog who is Mikey's friend! My name is Hanagaki Takemichi, I'm seven! Can you shape shift, mister?" At that time, Michi was still yet to learn about how to differentiate pheromone for his kind.
So, yeah. Michi came and cried on top of him, he panicked. He then asked, stuttered. "M-mi— wh-why are you crying?"
His hands moved his younger brother so that he could sat himself more comfortable.
"..."
Looked at how Michi kept crying without answering him, Shinichiro gave Michi a bear hug. With his hand he patted his brother's back. His 100% successful tip on calming down a crying child he only ever tried it on Emma, though.
"There, there.." He repeatedly doing so.
It took him at least three to five minutes until Michi really calmed down. He then let go of the hug to see Michi's face had become red and puffy with all the water sprawled on his small face. Lips still curled downside.
Was it wrong for Shinichiro to think that Michi looked so freaking adorable with that expression plastered on his face?
"So, what happened to our kitten in school?"
The bright blue eyes dropped, "Shin..-nii-san.." he seemed reluctant to use the nickname and honorific for Shinichiro. Honestly, that was cute. And adorable.
"Yes..?" Shinichiro answered softly, he already learned not to fright or startle the younger in any form possible.
"Michi.. huuk—" Michi said, hiccuping a little bit after all the cry. "Michi is preGNAT WAAAAAAAA!" And the younger proceed to cry again. The second time, he cried for a little bit to loud, and too close to Shinichiro's ear.
Ah, My ears might bleed. Shinichiro thought.
But a second later, he widened his eyes and said (with the same volume— if not louder than Michi crying), "wHAT?!"
He panicked again. Like panic, panic. Because at that time he knew nothing about were-people and how they reproduce their offsprings.
And Michi is a boy. A male cat. How in the fucking hell could a boy— a freaking seven years old boy, who Shinichiro was really sure had zero knowledge to release sperma or sumn, got pregnant?
However, cat had a short life span that made it able to produce its offspring when it was just two years old living. Was it the same for were-cat? But how? Did Michi met his kind that Shinichiro did not notice? Was Michi got— (he slapped his cheek in his mind who was already imagining the worst to happen).
His train of thoughts had already run too far away for him to notice that him screaming had make the little boy's crying instantly stopped.
It was not until Michi patted his cheek a few times while called for his name that Shinichiro went back from his wild imagination on how were-people's reproduction worked.
The kid pouted, "I— I feel nauseous, my body hurts.. I read from human's encyclopedia in school that that was the sign of.. morning sickness and pre—pregnatci hukk.."
Human encyclopedia? Was there such a thing? Anyway that misspoke was cute, my adorable baby brother Michi—
He coughed a bit and then faced Michi. "... I don't know what to do about this so.. let me call my best friend quickly, yeah?" He finally said.
With Michi nodded then sat on his lap he began to rummage his bed in search for his phone (at that time he still did not know about Waka being a were-people, or were-leopard). Once he got what he searched for, he dialed Waka and wait for a minute before—
"I'm dumb so I just cut into the case, man. I've got this cute little cutie pie of a brother coming to me and said that he is pregnant. What should I do?"
[Shin.] Pause for a bit before Shinichiro could hear a sigh. [I swear if this is one of your shitty prank I'd call on Omi and—]
So he cut what Waka was about to say with, "My brother is a were-cat."
Again, a pause.
[... What in the actual fucking hell did'ya say?]
He then explained in detail what he experienced this afternoon. Hands still rubbing the back of his younger brother, who seemed too comfortable that Shinichiro could hear soft snooze— typical a kid, tired after crying too much.
[So, what you said was your younger brother, a were-cat, came to you crying and told you that he is pregnant?]
Shinichiro nodded before saying, "Yes." knew that Waka would not be able to see his gesture of affirmation.
[...] This is the third time Waka paused. Shinichiro already sceptical that Waka would be able to do anything at all.
[That was probably not it.] Waka said, Shinichiro confused.
"What?"
[Were-cub has different symptoms when they were about to grow up. But mainly, their whole body aches, they'll feel nauseous to the point of throwing up.. ask your brother. If this is what he feels, then that's not pregnancy.]
At that time, Shinichiro honestly relieved that he got a smartass of a friend like Imaushi Wakasa (not knowing that white haired friend of his is also a different kind of human, that was why he was so knowledgeable).
"Then, it was due to him growing up? Not pregnancy."
[There's a limit on becoming a dumbass, you imbecile.] Ouch. The insult hurts.
[You said your brother is seven. And a boy. Even if your younger brother is a were-cat, doesn't mean that he can produce offspring on his time and age right now, you fucker.]
"That was because I don't know anything about were-people. They were considered as myth, y'know?"
[Myth my ass.]
After that he exchanged a few more words with Waka before he ended the call. A promise was made to that friend of his; he were to bring Michi into his garage later.
That was the prelude on how Michi met Waka, probably.
All in all, Shinichiro was glad that Michi was not really pregnant— since he did not know how to handle a young boy, his adopted younger brother, getting pregnant and had kids when he himself still had no luck with his love life.
