They had had that conversation a thousand times before and honestly Morgan didn’t get what was so difficult to understand.
“For Arceus sake Alex, I already told you a thousand times that I won’t get Abra to fight your pokemon just so she might evolve ! She is perfect the way she is and I wouldn’t change her for all the money in the world.” They picked the sleeping pokemon who had been floating in the middle of their shared sitting room, and presented her proudly showing that she was in fact flawless.
“Okay, but hear me out. It won’t need to be a real fight, she could just Ice Punch Mewtwo until they faint. And since they are level 100, we would only need to do it once until she evolves into a Kadabra. And then we do an exchange so she can become an Alakazam, and I give her back to you bigger and stronger so people can finally see you, not as a random grunt who works for me, but as the fearsome head of Team Cranium.” While he was finishing his speech, Zekrom had come out of their Pokeball and used Thunder to emphasise their master’s point, before quickly going right back in.
“I really don’t need her to do more than she already does, she can Teleport when things grow dire and that’s already plenty. And my grunts do all the fighting for me anyways, I don’t need a strong team like you have. We do heists, we don’t steal Pokemon, kill people or plan on taking over the world. Our most dangerous enemy is a ten year old that, if I’m really honest, shouldn’t be travelling around the world on their own.” Morgan paused for a second thinking. “Oh, and Barnaby and Ohio, even though they are somehow less tough to beat than a literal child.”
“I mean ten year olds can be ferocious. One of them nearly beat me once. And by that I mean they nearly knocked out Mewtwo, before I just switched them out with Keldeo and destroyed their full Dark type team. People really don’t understand the advantages a well balanced team can bring to a fight.” For a moment Morgan had thought the conversation over, but they knew they were wrong when Alex turned to them once more. “Which you could have if you actually bothered training your Pokemon.”
At this point Morgan had had enough of this discussion and couldn’t help from snapping in response. “I won’t get Abra to fight and this is final !”
Alex slightly shocked at the reaction simply raised his hands defensively and said : “Fine ! Do as you want, but don’t expect me to come and save your ass every time one of your plans goes haywire.”
He walked over to the couch and flopped down onto it, sighing deeply as his back hit the cushions.
After a few seconds something floated towards him and fell onto his chest. Looking up he saw Abra had decided that his chest was the perfect spot for another nap. He sighed once more and then moved his arms to gently wrap them around the sleeping pokemon.
“I guess you do have a point Morgan, she is perfect this way.”
Morgan sat down next to Alex and then slowly lay down, turning as to have one of their arms above their favourite partners in crime.
