Work Text:
Hydrangea ran her hand through the crystal water, feeling the temperature. It had to be perfect for the Great Dragon, everything had to be. To be certain that she didn’t keep them waiting, she prepared everything in advance. Hydrangea knew Lotus Dragon kept everything to a schedule, so they’d show up at any moment.
Just like clockwork, the Great Dragon entered the room, regarding Hydrangea with the same smile they always did. Of course, they acknowledged everyone with a smile, but something about their expression always felt different with Hydrangea. She’s devoted her entire life to serving the dragon, and the servant has come to notice differences in their smile when around her. Something seemed more genuine, more vulnerable.
Hydrangea liked the attention. More than she’d admit out loud.
She gestured towards the tub, full of warm water waiting for a body, “I’ve prepared a bath for you, Great Dragon. It’s precisely to your liking.”
Lotus Dragon hummed, proceeding to walk towards the bath that awaited them. Adjusting their sleeve, they stuck their hand into the water, ripples gliding across the surface, “You did well, everything is as it should be.”
The servant perked at the compliment, more giddy that she thought she ought to be, “Of course! I want nothing but the best for you, Great Dragon.”
Hydrangea watched as Lotus Dragon shed their layers and entered the water, humming contently. She watched them relax, turning their gaze back to face her, “Hydrangea, would you be a dear and help me?”
“Right away, Great Dragon!”
“Please, we are alone. Lotus Dragon is fine.”
Her heart skipped a beat. Despite being the dragon’s closest servant, she never dreamed of being given the honor of using the dragon’s name. Hydrangea liked it. A lot. She never knew how much she liked it till now.
She feels her heart longing, it’s a strange, welcome feeling.
She walks over to the bath, rolling her sleeves up to wash the Lotus Dragon’s hair. Running her fingers through silky strands, she got to work. The servant took her time lathering the shampoo, taking delicate care to wash it out. Brushing out knots was always easy, as the dragon’s hair always detangled easily.
A shift in movement caused Hydrangea to stop what she was doing, watching the dragon with curiosity. They looked at their servant, an unknown look in their eyes.
“Hydrangea, have you taken care of yourself yet? An overworked servant is not a good one, I assume you need your rest too.”
A warm feeling bloomed in her chest. The Great Dragon’s worry was not necessary, but felt wonderful, “Your needs always come before mine, Gr- Lotus Dragon.”
Lotus Dragon tsked, shaking their head, “Now that won’t do. You aren’t relaxed right now, I can tell. Come join me.”
She wasn’t relaxed? Was she that much of an open book? And the Great Dragon’s request couldn’t possibly be fulfilled, that was… distasteful! And her heart wanted it!
But she held back. She couldn’t do such a thing with the Great Dragon, even if they were alone.
Hydrangea shook her head, “Great Dragon I couldn’t possibly do that. I still need to take care of you.”
“There is still time to take care of me, and besides, there is plenty of room. Now, join me,” They looked expectantly at her, and Hydrangea sighed, giving in. At this point, she knew it wasn’t a request, but an order. Who is she to turn down an order from the Great Dragon?
Lotus Dragon watched as Hydrangea took off her clothes, revealing a body they knew to be far more delicate than their own. Her steps were delicate, hesitant, and it took all of Lotus Dragon’s will not to drag their servant into the water with them.
Upon fully submerging herself in the warm water, Hydrangea felt her face heat up. This sort of thing was too intimate, as she was baring her entire body towards Lotus Dragon. The distance between them was there physically, but to the both of them, they couldn’t be closer.
That was until Lotus Dragon moved closer to Hydrangea, snaking their arms around her waist to pull her closer. Hydrangea immediately tensed, the feeling their arms around her waist left her electrified. Lotus Dragon hummed, appreciating the warmth that emanated from her body.
Hydrangea felt a finger run down her spine, and she jolted, “Ah!- Great Dragon please!”
“You’re quite sensitive to touch, aren’t you? And I’ve told you, we’re alone, it’s Lotus Dragon to you,” they continued running their finger up and down Hydrangea’s spine, taking note of her reactions.
Hydrangea knew her face was a dark red, and she couldn’t afford to face Lotus Dragon. However she ended up in this predicament, she didn't know. But it wasn’t like she disliked it, it was just embarrassing.
Lotus Dragon shifted, allowing Hydrangea to move away from them. She turned to face the dragon, causing the water to ripple between them. She placed her hands on their shoulders, and in turn they placed their hands on her waist.
Hydrangea tensed, only now realizing their intimacy. She looked into their eyes, slit as they always were, looking at her with a curious expression.
She wanted to move in closer. But she couldn’t.
‘Please be my only love,’ Words that made it to her lips, but never left. The servant knows her place.
She leaned in closer, a notion that didn’t go unnoticed, as Lotus Dragon followed suit. Their faces were mere centimeters apart.
Close enough to kiss.
“Lotus Dragon…” the servant’s voice came out quiet, breathy. She couldn’t do it, couldn’t say it. Too much was at risk.
And the dragon could tell. They pressed their foreheads together, and closed their eyes, “You don’t need to say anything. Save it for later.”
“Mmm…” Hydrangea leaned into their touch, the warm feeling in her body something she’d never let go.
“Now let’s finish what we were meant to do, shall we?”
… …
Hydrangea lay in her quarters later that night, thinking of the events that transpired earlier. It was strange for her to want something, especially that strong feeling of want she’s never experienced before.
She wouldn’t mind feeling that again. The way her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest and the brain numbing feeling of being so close.
If it meant feeling wonderfully marvelous fuzzies in her head again, then she would serve the Great Dragon for as long as she can, and give every fiber of her being for them. Once they have the strength to recover, then surely she’ll have the strength to tell them.
Oh how she hopes the day will come soon.
