Work Text:
You helped Dustin off the floor as Eddie blocked the vent off with his makeshift garbage lid shield, and you almost laughed when Eddie repeated “Holy shit, holy shit!”
He and Dustin high-fived, and you smiled at him, uttering a “Nice thinking, Munson.”
He was grinning like an idiot at you when Dustin asked you both if there were any more vents in the trailer.
Now the three of you were hurriedly dashing around and chanting curses while trying to find another vent and plug it up, but you were too late. Bats began swarming around one of the rooms before Eddie slammed the door shut.
You dashed toward the gate, throwing your hands in the air when the boys only stared at one another panting. “Come on! We don’t have all day!”
Soon enough they were hurriedly making their way toward you, and you helped Dustin up first. You almost snapped at him when he frantically said the door wouldn’t hold. (As if that wasn’t obvious.)
When Dustin made his way over, you motioned for Eddie next. But he shook his head no, “Ladies first.”
You scoffed at him, before beginning to climb the sheet anyway. You shrieked when you fell through and onto the mattress, but you hurried out of the way.
“C’mon, Munson! That door is breaking any minute now!”
You shouted anxiously.
When he only stared at you, you felt your heart drop.
“Come on Eddie!”
Dustin yelled from beside you, but that didn’t seem to do anything.
And then Eddie cut the sheet.
“Munson!”
You yelled, half angry.
“What the hell are you doing?!”
“I’m buying more time.”
He told you, trying his best to be calm.
And then he started to walk away.
“Goddamnit Eddie!”
You screamed, throwing the sheet through the gate.
And then you started climbing, and to your luck, he doubled back.
“Get back over there, it isn’t safe.”
He told you, raising his voice at the last part.
“God you are such an asshole, Munson! I know that!”
You yelled back, now standing in front of him.
“You don’t think I know I’m risking my life being here? You don’t think I know what you’re doing?! Don’t be a hero Eddie! Don’t be stupid! Your name won’t magically get cleared because of this! You won’t be praised and forgiven by all of Hawkins! You’ll still be Eddie “The Freak” Munson, even if you don’t make it out alive! Even if you don’t make it out at all!”
You hit his chest, tears running down your face now.
“Get through that damn gate, now Munson. I’m not kidding.”
You spoke, glaring at him through watery eyes.
“I can’t.”
You hit him in the chest, as a sob racked through your body.
“Why?”
You asked, your voice a whisper.
“What if I didn’t want to be the Hawkins hero?”
He murmured, looking at you with big eyes.
“What?”
You asked, flinching when the bats got louder.
“What if I wanted to be yours?”
And then the door broke, and you heard Dustin screaming both of your names.
—
You and Eddie could only take so much of the fighting, and those bats seemed infinite. When things started getting bad though — They dropped like flies.
You told Dustin to get out of the way, while you helped Eddie up.
“Shit, do you think this is gonna work?”
He asked, chuckling — and then groaning. He could barely stand because of how bad the bats got him.
“It has to, or we’re staying here for the rest of our days. Together.”
You grumbled.
He muttered an “Alrighty.” before taking hold of the sheet. Dustin stood on a chair near the gate, his arms reaching through to grab hold of Eddie. You grabbed hold of Eddie’s legs while he held onto the sheet, hoisting him up with all of your strength. And then he fell through, Dustin nearly falling on top of him. And then Eddie rolled over, and you helped yourself through the gate — falling next to him.
You stayed like that for a while, all laying next to each other. And then you sat up, glaring at Eddie.
“You are such a douche bag, Munson.”
You told him, before you stood and began toward the door.
“We have places to be. Come on.”
Dustin whistled when you were out of earshot, looking at Eddie.
“You’re gonna have to kiss her feet or something for her to forgive you.”
Eddie chuckled, nodding his head.
“All worth it, Henderson. Anything for her.”
