Work Text:
When Lyg fell and the Crustation kings died the New God chased their God back into Oblivion, Hope only paused for a moment to look back and see what he had done. The face of Lyg would never be the same for it had seen his face, the face of change. Then he continued to chase the tail of the Corrupter until Molag Bal lead him into Coldharbour, where the Lord of Domination captured the Young God.
For Eras or perhaps Kalpas Hope was trapped in The Schemer’s grasp, where he faced tortures unimaginable. When each blade pierced his flesh or mind he struck back, never once giving up. His will was stronger than even Molag’s lust for pain. So when the Lord of Suffering grew bored of tormenting the unbreakable, Light slipped between his fingers and released Revolution.
Destruction found himself directed to the luna lattice, despite their usual conflicts Brutality and Light both joined him in the assault until Twilight cast them from it. This left Destruction to roam Oblivion for he had no realm yet.
During his roaming Mehrunes felt himself being watched and followed. Hope realised he was being hunted, as he saw the infamous antler’s rise from the water’s of the Void.
‘What greater quarry was there then a God?’ Questioned the helmed hunter as he prowled forth. But Mehrunes did not run, instead he charged. Hope unbroken would not fall today and so instead he pursued the surprised hunter.
Dagon spat roars of destruction, he promised how he would break the fleeing Hunter. His chase was cut short when Hircine began to laugh.
‘Few Rebel against my hunt, fewer still turn it on me.’ The Older Prince spoke, slowing as they arrived in the Hunting Grounds. ‘Why do you roam, Destroyer?’ He asked.
Dagon looked around, smoke emanating from his hands are he looked upon miles of tinder. ‘What is left when all has been destroyed? Nothing for me to keep.’ He told the Stag-Prince.
‘Though you set them back to Little more than spears and furs they will return for you to break again, Make them run the path to civilisation til they run faster than you can chase. Have patience and you will reach a worthy game. Follow me,’ The ancient spirit said before leading Mehrunes from his realm once more.
Hircine led Mehrunes to a region of Oblivion not too far from the border of Mundas and taught him how to shape his being and build is plane. Hircine chased lesser Daedra to populate the Deadlands until he fled. When Mehrunes was satisfied with this plane he set about tearing it down and so the cycle began.
