Work Text:
The rain poured down, dampening the earth and dampening Francis’ plans for the day. They were going to go have a picnic in the nice spring weather, though sadly the weather had other plans and it was currently raining cats and dogs out there.
None of them wanted to go out in the train, not even Arthur who usually enjoyed it when It rained but he seemed to be more interested in not moving from the bed and stealing all the covers.
A stubborn Arthur is an unmovable Arthur you see, so Germany had to pick Arthur up, in his blanket cocoon and all and plopped him onto the sofa where he proceeded to read a book and pretend neither of them existed until Ludwig sat down and Arthur shuffled at the speed of light to him.
While those two were being warm in their little blanket cocoon with tea and coffee, Francis was feeling melodramatic, maybe it was the rain, maybe because it was Francis. Who knew but he was feeling the vibe (as Alfred would say).
The two kept calling him to snuggle and he eventually complied but not before bringing his sketching book and a pencil.
Arthur was dozing off again, warm in between Ludwig and Francis who had to endure the mans bony everything before he settled down into a non moving slumber. Ludwig had started to nod off too, lulled by the heat of the blanket and the gentle yet never ceasing pitter-patter of the rain.
Francis extracted himself from the bundle of heat and started to sketch.
He had missed the picnic today but this was better, after all neither Arthur nor Ludwig were very touchy-feely (unless they were asleep, and right now they clearly were) and Francis would have drawn them there, but now it felt more intimate and secret
He started to draw, making sure to include the small details like Arthur’s small smile and the subtle clench of Ludwig’s arm on him and the messy hair and crooked glasses on Ludwig.
Once he was done he used a magnet to attach it to the fridge and snuggled back into the cocoon, where they lay for a few more hours.
a few warm.
Blissful hours.
