Work Text:

Fire. Blue fire. That was all you could see. You were staying at a hotel for work, but they didn't pay for it and you were broke. The only thing you could afford to stay at was an old motel right outside of Tokyo.

The flames went up around you and you knew you needed to run if you wanted to survive but, you did not. You didn't run because you wanted to die, and this was your chance with it not being your fault. You thought about killing yourself more often than you should have. You had cut yourself before. Your boyfriend Izuku was not happy about that when he found out. He tried to help you and even got you to see a therapist. That worked for a bit, but you fell back into the hole whenever he was gone for too long. Izuku would come home and see you. This didn't happen lately because you got good at covering them up. When he did find out you had hurt yourself, he always had the same eyes, one filled with so many emotions you didn't even know how to comprehend them.

You thought people would be sad and blame themselves for your death, so you didn't kill yourself. There wasn't a real reason for your depression, but you knew it was there and you didn't want to live, so this was your way out. Nothing would be your fault, but you would still die.

The flames got closer and closer to your feet surrounding you at all corners. People say before you die your life flashes before your eyes, it was true. All the best moments in your life were replayed. Your boyfriend was in most of those memories. Tears started to fall from your face. They came suddenly and fast. The tears streamed down your face as you realized what was about to happen. You wanted this, didn't you? But then you thought of Izuku again and the help and love he gave you daily. You thought of the hurt it would cause him, you didn't want to do that.

That's when you broke down crying. You started to scream for help, scream for him but no one came. You hoped that he would hear you so you could say sorry or anything to him. You needed to see his face once last time. The inevitable came closer and closer time running out faster and faster. Your screams became strangled as the smoke began filling your lungs to the point where you couldn't breathe. The last thing you saw before the darkness consumed you were the blue flames swarming around your body, your limp hopeless body.

Izuku was walking around Tokyo on patrol when he thought he heard you scream. He thought it was just his paranoia playing with him. He continued his rounds until he heard you again. This happened a few more times. By that point he didn't care if he was being paranoid, he knew where you were staying.

I shouldn't have let them stay there I knew it wasn't safe.

He knew your history with your depression and self-harm. He was worried that you wouldn't run, and you would die. He ran as fast as he could to get to you, but he wasn't fast enough. He saw the building up in flames, blue flames, he knew who did this but he didn't care at that moment. He ran in trying to find you. The smoke got to him fast, he put on his mask (Covid-19, where your mask please!) to protect him from the smoke. It helped some but he could still feel the smoke filling his lungs.

He searched for a long time until he found your body with your legs covered by the fire and the rest of your body almost covered in flames. He stopped for a second unable to move but soon moved to your body. He checked your plus to see if you were alive. It was faint and fading but it was there.

"(y/n)! (y/n)! Please, please wake up!" he screamed your name. Tears fell from his emerald eyes pleading you to wake up. He picked up your body carefully as not to hurt you and walked outside right as the flames came in. He was lucky his costume was fireproof. Once outside there were ambulances and fire trucks. He went to one of the ambulances and put you on a bed as a nurse wheeled you in. Izuku went into the back with you not wanting to leave your side.

They ran you into the hospital with many doctors and nurses around you trying to keep you alive. Tubes were connected to you and things were keeping you alive for now. The doctors kept you alive for a bit but Izuku couldn't see you for hours. He paced in the waiting room until one of the doctors came out.

"They're stable for now, but I make no promise they will live. They are in a coma right now, but you can go in," the doctor told him.

"Thank you," Izuku said before rushing into your room. He sat but your bed in silence for a while be speaking.

"Please stay alive I love you more than you could ever know so please, for me, stay alive," he said with tears falling down his face. He held your hand for many hours before falling asleep.

The next few days he stayed with you barely eating. He had called his office to tell them the situation so he could take a few days off. It was about 4 days after the fire when Izuku was sitting next to you just talking to you, the doctors said talking to you could help you wake up.

"I took a few days from work. Others can wait for me because you're my top priority," he said sadness heavy in his voice, "I love you; you know that right". With those words leaving his mouth you woke up but knew what was going to happen.

"I love you too, Izuku," you said your voice shaky. He immediately perked up at hearing your voice, he loved your voice. His hope and happiness were short-lived. The machines keeping you alive started to beep loudly. Your eyes fell shut and you saw the light.

"No! (y/n)! Please don't die on me! Please!" Izuku cried as your body began to seize. Doctors came in trying to save you to no avail. The beeping stops and turned into a flat line. Your body was still. You were dead. Izuku's face fell as it hit him.

(y/n) is dead, they're gone... forever.

He fell to the floor crying; he didn't care who saw him all he could think about was you. You and how he could never be with you again.

Notes:

This was sad but I had fun writing it. If you didn't get the blue flames (which you probably did) they were Dabi's. He set the motel on fire. Also if you want a part 2 let me know and if you liked the angst please tell me that to thank you. Drink some water and have a good night/day/evening.
