Chapter Text
The tap of Cody’s boots echoed on the empty corridor of the Negotiator as he walked to his general’s office, data pad in hand. There were some files from their last mission he needed Obi-Wan to check, rutinary work really, but nevertheless important he told to himself.
The door slid open as he was about to knock and Obi-Wan stood on the other side leaning against the door frame with a playful smirk on his face. Show off.
– Hi commander, what brings you here?
He sighed and looked exasperated at his general, see if he could sense that with the force too.
– Sir, could you please stop doing that.
Obi-Wan stood from his leaning position, a bit bashful, and approached his commander with a softer smile. It was endearing.
– I’m sorry Cody, I couldn’t help it and I was about to go out myself.
Cody sighted again and decided against making any comment back at him, but couldn’t help a little smile of his own. He handled him the data pad.
– From last mission. I need you to look at some files and recordings, just to check everything is in order. – He noticed Obi-Wan was about to speak and recalled he said he was going out. He tentatively raised an eyebrow – But if you are busy…
The general’s shoulders relaxed a bit as he left out a breath giving Cody an apologetical smile.
– I am, I’m afraid I’ve been called to the bridge. We are approaching a system and we seem to have caught some kind of transmission.
Cody understands. He really does. But he also wishes war didn’t require so much bureaucracy and he didn’t need to fill so many reports. Obi-Wan turned to step out of his office, and gently, a bit playfully, placed a hand on his commander’s chest. Cody looked down at it for a second.
– I promise I’ll have those files checked as soon as this little hassle has been dealt with, Cody.
– I know. – he replied softly – But you better do.
Obi-Wan laughed, and removed his hand, not without lingering a little bit. But before he could finish stepping away, Cody quickly looked around, checking the coast was clear and the corridor was empty. Satisfied with their privacy, he turned to his general and quickly pressed his lips to his. Obi-Wan looked at him a bit surprised but it quickly morphed into an amused smile as he pressed his lips back.
– Commander! – he gasped in mock shock – How scandalous of you!
Cody smiled back at him cheekily and turned to go back to the barracks, giving his general a last look over his shoulder.
– You should get going, sir. You don’t want to be late.
