Chapter Text
Chongyun's day consists of the same exact routine every single time for as long as he can remember.
Because of his condition; congenital positivity, he has been regulating his lifestyle. Only allowing himself to do certain things that would not muddle with his said condition to the point that he is oblivious to even the most common things in life.
But recently, despite all the effort with regulating himself, he constantly feel unusual..? Certainly doesn't feel like his excessive amount of yang energy is acting up but what's worrying is that this seems way more stronger than that. The exorcist is truly troubled by this, even worse is he can't figure out what's causing it and no medication works either.
Multiple trips to the pharmacy ends fruitless. He'd just gone back from a check up today and the local doctor told Chongyun he's perfectly healthy and that he should stop going to the pharmacy every week when he doesn't even have sickness. But if he is healthy after all, why does he feel this way then? Suddenly having a fuzzy feeling in his stomach at quite seemingly random times and his heart beating like crazy...
"Is the doctor's diagnosis actually accurate? Maybe this is some unknown sickness nobody has even studied before..?" He tried to make answers to what's happening to him in his mind.
Fuzzy stomach syndrome. He'll just call it that.
Chongyun's determined to get a cure for this strange phenomenon he's feeling.
"Perhaps it's punishment from Celestia..." uttering to himself when he caught glimpse of a figure sprinting towards him.
"CHONGYUN!" A sense of familiarity with the voice. "Oh, Xingqiu. What is it?" he questioned as the other fell into his arms, slightly sweating from the run and panting heavily.
"Ah yes! I just finished writing a new novel! I need you to proofread my manuscript, much obliged." Xingqiu responded raising his head and smiling.
It feels fuzzy in his stomach again.
He looks excited to show his newly curated piece to Chongyun and that thought makes chongyun smile for some reason. There's no way he can decline his best friends request when he's this excited to show him his book.
"Congrats." Chongyun smiled as he greeted his friend "and it's not like I can decline, can I?" He added.
"Of course you can't my liege." Xingqiu responded jokingly.
"Then, when do you plan on making me work as your proof reader again Xingqiu?" Chongyun asked.
"Oh..! Well then, maybe tomorrow?"
Dispite the young master's horrible penmanship that Chongyun could barely decipher, he still gave in to his request. After all, how can he possibly deny his best friend? Chongyun seems like he's being forced and dragged around by Xingqiu but in reality, Chongyun finds it enjoyable being able to enter and be part of Xingqiu's world that way. They've been together since childhood and not once did he think it was troublesome, plus all the tasks he's been asked to do is worth when Xingqiu is clearly pleased with him in the end.
"That reminds me, where did you go earlier Yun? I looked at your usual spots and you weren't there.." Xingqiu asked. At this point, they are already walking next to each other. They both don't know where they're both going. Just walking aimlessly.
"Ah. About that... I've skipped today's meditation to go to bubu pharmacy. You needn't worry though, I'm not sick. Well atleast the doctor said I wasn't dispite me feeling strange these past weeks..." The exorcist replies, scratching the back of his head.
The young master gasps in concern. Suddenly coming to a halt, placing his palm on the forehead of the other. Chongyun's temperature seems to be the same warmth as always..
"How do you feel right now Chongyun?" his brows scrunched, expression looking uneasy.
His hand felt cold in comparison to the young man's warmth and their faces mere inches away from each other.
Chongyun felt something inside. It feels weird.
For a second, he thought it's just his condition acting up but there isn't any trigger really. The weather's just right, he hasn't done anything to overexert himself neither did he eat anything spicy.
He stood there; heart beating rather quickly and his stomach feeling extremely fuzzy. It hurts.
He can't even bear to answer Xingqiu's question verbally. His voice seemed to be blocked by something in his throat. Absent mindedly, he pulled Xingqiu's hand away from his forehead then proceeded to place it on top of his chest.
The young master's smooth hand felt great below his calloused one. It never fails to amaze the exorcist how his best friend manages to keep his hands soft with barely any scratches despite him also training and such. The comforting hand that goes through the young exorcist's hair whenever he lays on his lap when taking a break. The hand that he watches jerk every time he flips through the pages of his beloved novels. The beautiful hand that can wield a sword so gracefully. He felt guilty even griping on Xingqiu's hand ever so tightly in the moment but he can't seem to let go. He doesn't want to let go of it.
Why does he not want to let go?
Dazed he is while he find himself lost in his dear friend's amber eyes.
His trance finally broke when his eyes hits Xingqiu's confused expression. Finally having the strength to utter something. "Um.. My heart keeps beating fast. It feels uncomfortable." he mumbled, quite embarrassed that he lowers his sight.
Although he did looked back up to glace at Xingqiu just after a while as his silence was surprisingly deafening.
There stood Xingqiu, cheeks tinted pink while trying to mouth something but no sound comes out immediately.
"Hm? Xingqiu? What's wrong?" Truth be told, Chongyun suddenly got worried about Xingqiu. He now regretted telling him about this "sickness" he has. He really does not want to be a bother to Xingqiu and make him worry. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything.
"O-oh" Xingqiu pulled back to reality.
"Um, sorry Chongyun for blanking out... Your condition might be quite serious no? What shall we do with you...?" he exclaimed, sighing.
"Ah I'm worried about you even more now Chongyun..." Xingqiu dramatically said. He pulled his hand away yet still he fell onto Chongyun's chest bringing him into a tight hug.
Chongyun's heart beating faster than ever.
"I told you to not worry about me. It's just-" Chongyun can't help but sigh "I'm fine. It's ok. Perhaps I'm just being dramatic right now. Don't pay me any mind. Compared to my Congenital positivity, this is nothing. I can handle." He scrambled to find words just to try not to worry his friend. Hopeful that his words will calm him down somehow.
"Geez ok, ok! I'm not worried anymore don't panic. Just don't overwork yourself ok? Take care of yourself better." Xingqiu pulled out of their hug.
Chongyun just let a sound in agreement while thinking just what shall he do with this "disease" of his... Hopefully his death isn't nearing as it'll be a pity if he goes to the afterlife. He still is not a full fledged exorcist afterall and his most important best friend would be unreachable then.
