Chapter Text
Few dare to cross Geonhak The Grave.
His ferocious, devilish reputation has spread from one end of the archipelago to the other and any pirate, even those half-crazed by the salt and by the sun, knows to raise their sails, drop their anchor, and let Geonhak's galleon The Trickster pass. To do anything less would be considered a hostile act and many a ship have sunk to the ocean floor after being greeted by The Trickster’s infamous broadside cannons.
Geonhak has survived hurricanes. Fought off undead armies with nothing but his fists. Cured himself of a witch's supposedly fatal curse. Heard a siren's song and lived to sing it back to her.
And it’s not just Captain Geonhak who has earned such fear. Such respect.
His crew is as bad as it gets.
One of them is so good with a rifle, he can shoot stars out of the sky.
A second has teeth like a shark’s and can command the very ocean waves.
The third is supposedly immortal and has already died thirteen times.
Together, they are a force that can take down the largest, fiercest monsters the sea can spit up at them.
And that is why it is so odd that someone challenges him.
Whoever it is has balls of steel. They sneak aboard his ship and steal his treasures in the dead of night. They take his precious gold. Rob him of his precious jewels. And what does the thief leave behind? Worthless raven feathers in the places where his riches should be!
With each new theft, his crew gets antsy. Hwanwoong sleeps with one eye open and his rifle in his hands. Keonhee works and reworks his protection spells, warding the ship’s hull and masts. Dongju sharpens his knives and craves blood, eyes feral.
But Geonhak?
Geonhak doesn't want to kill the thief.
He wants to recruit him.
