Work Text:

You ready?” Toni said fixing her shirt.

“Almost my love,” Cheryl said applying her lipstick.

Toni couldn’t help but admire how beautiful her wife looked, it always drove her crazy how insanely beautiful Cheryl was. From her fiery red hair to her big dough eyes every time she looks at her it’s almost like Cupid shot her with an arrow.

“You just going to stand there and stare?” Cheryl said looking at Toni in the mirror of her vanity as she finished applying her lipstick.

Toni chuckled, “I mean how can I not when I have a wife as beautiful as you.”

Cheryl smiled, “I’m honestly kind of nervous to see your family.”

Toni raised an eyebrow, “You’ve met them before.”

“I know, but that was only like once or twice, I’m never really around them. Plus I think your grandma hates me.”

Toni sighed while making her way over to where Cheryl was bent over at her vanity wrapping her arms around the taller girls waist, “She’s still warming up to the fact that I’m married to a Blossom, she’s getting there though.”

Cheryl laughed, “She’s been getting used to us for years, I don’t think she’ll ever be okay with it.”

Toni shook her head, “It doesn’t matter what she thinks or is okay with, because I love you and I couldn’t picture a life without you. So don’t worry about her okay? I’ll be by your side the whole time at the family reunion I promise.”

Cheryl took a deep breath while turning around so that she was now facing Toni, “Don’t be nervous.” Toni said bringing her hand to Cheryl’s cheek.

Cheryl smiled sinking into her wife’s touch, “Now let’s get this show on the road,” Toni said giving Cheryl a quick peck on the lips.

-

As Cheryl and Toni pulled into Toni’s grandmas drive way, Toni couldn’t help but notice how nervous her wife looked so she reached for her wife’s hand giving her a soft smile. Cheryl took a deep breath, “It’ll be fine, I promise,” Toni said bringing the taller girls hand to her lips.

As soon as they made their way out of the car they were immediately swarmed by Toni’s siblings, “Tiny!” Her older brother shouted as he pulled her in for a hug.

“Only Sweets calls me that,” Toni said nudging the dark haired boy.

“Not my fault you’re practically a hobbit.” He chuckled.

“Haha haven’t heard that a thousand times before.” Toni said sarcastically.

“Hey sis,” A taller brunette said bringing Toni in for a hug.

As they both pulled away Toni looked over at Cheryl who just stood awkwardly, “Guys you remember my wife Cheryl right?” Toni spoke up.

They both nodded, “Cheryl you remember Michael and Sarah don’t you?”

“Indeed,” Cheryl said with a shy smile.

“Nice to see you again,” Michael said reaching out his hand for Cheryl to shake.

Cheryl shook the boys hand then doing the same to Sarah, it was awkward for a few moments until Toni decided to speak up.

“Well we better go in before grams wonders where everyone is at.” Toni said as she took Cheryl’s hand in hers.

As they made their way in it’s as if everyone’s eyes were immediately on the two girls, “Well look who decided to show up.” Toni’s grandma said making her way over to the two girls.

Toni thought all hell was about to break lose when her grandmother said that because she didn’t look happy, but Toni was wrong her grandma pulled her into her arms without a second thought. Toni was honestly relieved she was taken by surprise though when her grandma pulled away and turned to look at Cheryl. Toni could see the worry on her wife’s face, she was about ready to intervene. But, something a little odd happened when the older woman gave her wife a soft smile before pulling her in for a hug.

“Nice to see you dear, is my Toni treating you right?” The woman said as she pulled away.

Cheryl looked at Toni in disbelief before saying, “Always.”

The older woman smiled, “Good or else I’d have to smack her around,” She said with a laugh.

“Now you girls go get some food.”

When Toni’s grandmother was out of ear shot Cheryl whispered to her wife, “What the hell?”

Toni shrugged, “I guess she’s learning to live with it.”

“I mean I’m glad that just isn’t what I excepted?”

Toni chuckled, “Just be happy that she’s not being negative.”

Cheryl laughed, “I suppose you’re right.”

“I’m always right now let’s go get us some grub.”

-

Everyone sat around the table and ate, talked even laughed a little, Cheryl was starting to feel more comfortable around everyone. Toni’s siblings were actually going out of their way to speak to her especially Toni’s grandma which made Toni extremely happy. Mainly because she knew growing up Cheryl had it rough her mother was a complete nightmare, her dad was a psycho who only cared about himself. The only good one was her brother, Cheryl never had good family gatherings they were always awful especially because her mom would constantly pick at her and talk badly about her to everyone the whole time. She had told Toni stories and it broke her heart hearing about the awful things her wife had to endure.

Toni looked over at her wife and couldn’t help but smile she looked so happy, what was making Toni smile even more was the that her seven year old niece had really taken a liking to Cheryl. She watched as the little girl threw her arms out wanting Cheryl to pick her up which she did. Toni watched as Cheryl bounced her up and down on her leg as the little girl giggled while playing with a strand of Cheryl’s hair.

“That’s crazy,” Sarah said looking at her daughter who was having the time of her life sitting in Cheryl’s lap.

“What is?” Toni questioned.

“Lilly never likes anyone especially people she doesn’t know.”

Toni smiled, “Have you guys ever thought about having kids?” Her sister questioned.

Toni took a deep breath, “We’ve talked about it a few times, but we’re always so busy and it’s just never felt like the right time.”

“Well personally I think your wife would make a great mother I mean she seems to be great with kids.”

-

After her sister said that it really got Toni thinking, maybe they were ready. After everyone ate Toni’s brother challenged her to a round in Mario kart on their old Nintendo 64 that she couldn’t believe still worked. They played a couple of rounds and Toni completely destroyed the older boy.

“You’re such cheater!” The boy said tossing the controller.

Toni chuckled, “You’re still a crybaby for someone who’s older than me.”

He rolled his eyes while flipping her the bird, she shook her head not believing how much of a sore loser her brother still was.

“Rematch,” He said picking up the controller.

“Can’t bro it’s getting late Cheryl and I both have work in the morning.”

The boy sighed, “Whatever next time though it’s on.”

Toni laughed, “Yeah we’ll see about that.”

Toni stood up giving wrapping her arms around the older boy, “It was good seeing you Michael.”

He smiled, “It was great seeing you too sis.”

Toni hadn’t even noticed that she hasn’t seen her wife since they ate dinner she had no clue where she was at, “Have you seen Cheryl?” Toni said as she made her way into the kitchen where her sister stood washing some plates.

“I think her and Lilly went back to the play room.”

As Toni made her way back to the play room she couldn’t help but, smile as she heard giggles coming from outside the door. She couldn’t help but smile even more at the site she was met with. Cheryl was sat in the floor playing with barbies as she let Lilly boss her around.

“Babe?” Toni spoke up.

Cheryl was so caught up in whatever Lilly was telling her to do she didn’t even hear Toni.

“Babe?” Toni repeated making her way into the room squatting down next to her.

“Yes my love?” Cheryl said turning to look at her wife.

“It’s getting late we better head home. Also is that makeup all over your face?” Toni said pointing at the big glob of red lipstick along with some dark blue eye shadow.

Cheryl chuckled, “Yeah Lilly did my makeup.”

“I made her look like Cinderella!” Lilly giggled

Toni chuckled, “I can see that.”

“Can you play with us Auntie TT,” The girl said giving her puppy dog eyes.

“I would baby, but Auntie Cheryl and I have to go home it’s our bed time, it’s also your bed time.”

The little girl crossed her arms shaking her head, “How about this me and Auntie Cheryl will take you for ice cream some time real soon, okay?”

The little girl nodded, “Alright now let’s go get you to your mom.” Toni said picking the little girl up as Cheryl followed behind her.

“Here’s the little devil,” Toni said handing her to Sarah.

But Lilly was not having it she was trying to wiggle out of her moms arms and kept reaching out for Cheryl, “Baby, they have to go home.”

“I want Auntie Cheryl!” The little girl cried.

Toni felt bad she would tell Sarah she could come stay with them for the night if her and Cheryl didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn.

Lilly just kept crying until Cheryl walked over to her, “Auntie Toni and I will come get you next weekend and you can stay with us, we can do whatever you want. Only if you be good for your mom okay?” Cheryl said giving the little girl a soft smile.

Right when Cheryl said that her tears practically vanished, “That’s all it took?” Sarah said in disbelief, “Now I know who to call when she has a temper tantrum.”

-

When they finally made it home they both decided to have a quick shower then they found themselves in bed.

“I love you.” Toni said wrapping her arms around her wife as they got settled into bed

“I love you too.” Cheryl said snuggling closer into Toni’s arms.

“I was thinking-“ Toni said trailing off.

“About?”

“Kids.”

Cheryl rolled over so that she was now facing Toni, “What about kids?”

“I don’t know I mean us starting a family, we’ve talked about it before.”

It was silent for a moment, when Cheryl didn’t say anything Toni spoke up, “You have nothing to say?”

“I’m just wondering where this is coming from?”

“Well I mean you were so good with Lilly and I think you would make an amazing mother, it’s just seeing you be so good with her made me have baby fever I guess.”

Cheryl chuckled, “I’m not going to lie it gave me baby fever too.”

Toni smiled, “So, yes to kids?”

“I didn’t say yes, how about we look into it?”

“I’m going to take that as a yes.”

Cheryl rolled her eyes, before bringing her lips to her wife’s.
