Break Me (And Make Me A Mosaic Of Your Love)

Summary:

'I love you' can be expressed in many ways, but, for Nicolò, this one might just be the best.

Notes:

Hey :)

This was honestly the hardest thing I've ever written. I really need to kiss someone before I write a kiss scene. Anyway I hope it's enjoyable to read, if nothing else.

Work Text:

Kukrit stepped closer, gazing at his friend, and asked, in a whispering voice, "do you trust me?" As he spoke, his breath fanned Nicolò's face, feeding the flames of embarrassment.

Nicolò, unable to look away, felt his voice stick to his throat and swallowed uncomfortably. He wiped his hands on his skirt and, feeling intensely like he was selling away his soul, nodded "I do."

Carefully, as if his slight movements would damage his nervous friend, Kukrit reached his hand up. He hesitated, hand trembling and eyes wide, and brought it in to cup Nicolò's face.

"Is this okay?"

His quiet voice startled Nicolò, but he nodded carefully.

Kukrit's eyes flickered back and forth, from his hand, to Nicolò's face, to Nicolò's eyes, to Nicolò's-

To Nicolò's lips.

"You can still say no." Kukrit's voice sounded muffled and it wavered uncomfortably.

"And-" he could do this. He just had to say it "...and if I don't want to?" If this strange cockiness took Kukrit by surprise, he didn't show it. Instead, he leant forward and painstakingly closed the distance between them.

They both let out quiet and nervous laughs when their noses bonked together. Nicolò, finally regaining the ability to move, jolted his head to the side just as Kukrit tilted his the same way. Kukrit smiled lightly, amusement chasing off the nerves for a split second, before moving the other way.

"We aren't very good at this," Kukrit sighed with a warm smile. His smile was very pretty, Nicolò noted. One of his front teeth was crooked and bent slightly across the other. It made him look silly, he thought, but in a charming way.

"That's fine," Nicolò forced his voice to come out steady despite the quivering feeling of nerves and anticipation "'cause we can just try again, right?"

Kukrit stiffened, foot moving backwards in an unfinished attempt to step back. He opened his mouth to speak, but ended up making a choked spluttering noise.

"You... That means- That implies you'd want to kiss me again."

A teasing grin slid onto Nicolò's face easily. Kissing? Hard as shit. Mocking his beloved crush? Easiest thing in the world. "Nah..." he laughed at Kukrit's unreservedly devastated expression "I'd want to kiss you again and again and again."

Kukrit made a squeaking noise and his hands flew up to cover his face. "You can't just say things like that" he whined, voice muffled by his hands. "It's embarrassing..."

"You were the one trying to kiss me!"

"Well, yeah," Kukrit floundered, "but only once!"

"So, you only want to kiss me once? That cuts deep, man." Cringing internally, Nicolò made a mental note to stop calling Kukrit 'man' and 'dude' if this whole thing worked out.

"No! I mean- Yes! I mean- I don't know..." He fanned his face a little, a flustered expression making its way onto his already red face "I just didn't think that far ahead."

"Stop thinking." Nicolò knocked lightly on Kukrit's forehead "You'll hurt your pretty little head."

Kukrit determinedly ignored the last part of that sentence, in fear he might actually combust from embarrassment. "O-Okay."

"Come on. I want to kiss you. Are you okay with that?"

"Yeah."

Nicolò was the one who moved first this time, Kukrit being too busy calming his racing heartbeat. He distracted himself well enough that he didn't even notice that Nicolò had moved.

Until their lips clumsily locked.

He let out another soft squeak and he felt Nicolò laugh. He shelved the discovery that he could actually feel Nicolò's smile in favour of murmuring into his lips (oh wow, into his lips) "shut up, you startled me."

"You're doing a lot of talking for someone who's meant to be kissing back." Nicolò replied, almost breathing the words into his mouth.

"Sorry."

It felt weird, being close enough to taste someone's breath, but not unenjoyable. Nicolò's head was spinning and he needed to take a gasp of air when the kiss broke, despite it only being short.

From the look of things, Kukrit wasn't any more composed. With a lazy smile, Nicolò watched as Kukrit blinked slowly and brought his hand up to touch his lips. If it were anyone else, he might have been worried about the way Kukrit's legs wobbled underneath him like they were going to give way.

"So," Kukrit looked up sharply at him, shaken out of his daze. That was good as Nicolò had no clue where his sentence was going.

Kukrit took a few moments to compose himself, something that was equal parts frustrating and endearing to watch. Nicolò stuck it out though, he just needed time to process.

"Um," Kukrit began to speak, wide eyes showing how unplanned it was "You... You didn't brush your teeth."

Nicolò burst out laughing, cackling out of shock rather than actual amusement. "That's all you have to say, huh? Well, for your information, your breath tasted bad too."

Kukrit huffed out a laugh and Nicolò absolutely did not take even the tiniest bit of pride in being able to make him laugh. Well, maybe just a bit.

"I..." Kukrit was processing even slower than usual, Nicolò thought with a small bit of glee "I want to do that again. But not now. I might die."

Nicolò made a show of looking him up and down "Yeah, you might."

"Hey!"

"We can do this again."

"I know. You said before that-"

"On one condition," It was funny to see how quickly Kukrit's expression turned concerned and then resigned. "You've gotta date me."

"Duh," Kukrit rolled his eyes, "I'm not going to just go around kissing my friend."

"Then it's settled."

"You dont have to make it sound like some kind of sketchy deal, you know." Kukrit huffed out that half laugh again and Nicolò saved the sound to his mental log of 'Cute Kukrit Noises'.
