Undyne's Farming Addiction

Summary:

Undyne likes Stardew Valley. Is it an addiction? Maybe. Is she going to stop playing anytime soon? Hell no.

[Just Undyne thinking about and playing Stardew Valley]

Work Text:

Undyne huffed. She felt so stupid. She should be a jog or hanging with the others, but she was playing this farming game. It was called Stardew Valley. Ms. Toriel had brought it for her after she noticed Undyne was interested in it. Now Undyne was addicted to this game. Sans had even said something about her being hyper-fixated on it, whatever that meant.

It was weird how no one seemed concerned. Nobody forced her outside, and they seemed overall happy for her. If she were them, she would have forced herself outside days ago, even if she didn’t enjoy it. Thinking about doing it made her wince, though. She knew she didn’t want to do it herself.

Staying inside was something she just wanted to do. It wasn’t that it was too hot or too cold. She just didn’t want to go out. She looked back at the screen. Her character was in their home. The house had all of its needed upgrades. Her roommate, Krobus was in the kitchen, doing things.

Did Undyne like having Krobus as a roommate? Yes. Did she realize it was just marrying a spouse in the game without the wedding? Yes. Did she give a shit? Hell no. She loved Krobus in a platonic way. She wished he was real. She could be roommates with him. Just hanging out, being buds.

She could bring him pumpkins, and he would be so happy. Why wasn’t Krobus real? Undyne sighed. No matter how much she wished, her dream would never come true. She looked back up at the screen. She looked at Krobus’ smiling face and smiled back. Undyne liked the other characters as well.

She liked most of the villagers. She didn’t like Pierre and Lewis. Most people that liked the game didn’t like them either, but every person was another character that they despise. To her, that was Haley. She hated her with every fiber of her being. The anger was rising just thinking about her.

She tried to breathe in and out, to calm herself down. She pouted. She didn’t want to go on a full-on rant. She yawned, her eyes dropping. It was pretty late. She was one of the few people that stayed up this late in the house. She shut off the game. She collapsed onto the couch. Someone put a blanket over her.

She didn’t ask who; she didn’t care. It was just nice to enjoy something. Undyne smiled, falling into a dream-packed sleep.
