“Here, for you.”
Shen Yilang proffered him something and once he took it, Yu Liang recognized the item as a wristband.
“It's a lucky charm,” Shen Yilang said. “The three of us wore it once during grading tournament.”
“I noticed it,” Yu Liang said, studying the wristband in his hand, unabashedly pink in color. He remembered seeing something like this on Shi Guang's wrist a few years ago. He looked at Shen Yilang. “There were three of them, right?”
“Mm. Three bands for three chances. Each time we lost a round, we'd take off one. Well, it's more like a reminder for us to be careful. It's Shi Guang's idea.”
“It's a great idea. Thank you for this.” Yu Liang smiled.
So did Shen Yilang. “No problem. Seeing that you're one of us now, I thought it'd be nice for all four of us to have something like this. You know, a token of our friendship. But sorry it's pink. I was thinking of getting you blue, but that's the only color left. Shi Guang and Hong He both have already picked other colors, so... Sorry, Yu Liang.”
“It's alright. It's nice, really. Thank you for keeping me in mind.” The pink wasn't striking. If anything, he found it to be rather soothing.
“That's good, then,” Shen Yilang said, then glanced down at his watch. “I have to go now. You're coming over to Hong He's place this evening, right?”
“Yes.”
“Great. See you there.” With that, Shen Yilang bowed his head and left, closing the door with a soft thud.
Yu Liang momentarily mused on the door before looking down at the pink wristband. When he put it on, his heart swelled with warmth and happiness and a smile graced his features.
Yu Liang looked forward to this evening.
