Through Eyes that Aren't Forgotten

Summary:

He will never forget it. That look in her eyes. Cold. Dead. He prayed that he would never have to see such a harsh stare ever again. But those same eyes came back. Why did they come back? Why does there have to be such beauty in something that used to feel so harmful? In something so sinister...

Chapter 1: A Nightmare Replaying

Chapter Text

That one day changed everything.

What had he done to deserve this? What had Tomo done?

Kazuha remembers it all, but it's gotten to a point of pure fog just clouding his mind.

A blur

He remembers Tomo. Ohh, the wonderful times they had. There was also a cat. Tomo's cat. Tomo's cat who joined him everywhere he went. The *three* would always be together. And that was all Kazuha had needed. To be with Tomo. Kazuha may have been in some unfortunate circumstances, but Tomo was there, and that made it better. His family may have cam crashing down at the hands of one foul person, but Tomo was there so everything was fine.

Kazuha was fine, but Tomo sought more.

"There will always be those who dare to brave the lightning's glow"

That was what he said. He said it because he dared. He was one of those who tried to stand up. To face it. To face her.

Her and the empty shell of her body. Her and the blade crafted of pure will. Her and those cold, dead, lifeless eyes.

A stare that could kill. A stare that did kill. A stare that was unforgettable to all who saw it.

It all fell into a blur when Tomo went to face the stare. When he went to brave the lightning. When he fell to the Shogun's mighty sword. When Kazuha rushed to the lifeless body of his poor friend. It all clouded into a hellish nightmare that constantly stirred through the thoughts of Kazuha. But one thing wasn't a blur. That damned stare. It was forged and burned into his memory. The dead, empty indigo that stared with pure remorse and hatred into the eyes of those who stood against her and her wishes. Of those who yearned for any sort of change.

He thought that stare was only matter from his nightmares at this point. He never thought he would see it again after the day he lost his friend. But of course it had to turn up again.

He was simply meditating. Sitting peacefully in the wind. He had felt a sort of disturbance, but payed no mind to it. A mistake. He felt a presence drawing nearer by the second. But chose to ignore. You were warned. Fate kept telling him to run. To leave. But his mind compelled him not to. So he stayed. Surely if his intuition wants to keep him here this badly nothing terrible will-

"Umm, excuse me? I'm talking to you!"

What? How was he found. Who's talking to him? What is so-

All thoughts were interrupted by a stare. Her stare. Those are her eyes! But, it isn't her..

All in this moment, things started to blur all over again. His thoughts, his memories, his vision are all one giant puddle of slop. Mixed together and muddy. But the mud is fading into pitch nothing and all the sudden everything just becomes
