“Saijou-san.”
A sweet and captivating voice called Claudine from across the room. And Claudine knew what that meant way too well.
“What do you want, Tendo Maya?”
“I need some blood.”
“I knew it…”
Tendo Maya was a vampire. It happened during her college times, where a senior of hers turned her into a kindred. When Claudine came back from France, Maya was different. Her brilliance, once radiant, was now blinding, almost unbearable, and yet incredibly captivating. She was like the hottest of flames, dangerous yet so beautiful.
And Claudine hated it. She hated how another woman turned the person she loved the most into this. She hated how readily Maya accepted it, without telling a single soul. She hated how she didn’t consider Claudine’s feelings, and now every time she touched her hand, it was cold. Not a word about it, and suddenly she becomes a creature of the night. She would never feel her warmth again.
But beneath all that, she could still see the Maya she parted ways with so many years ago. She was still her rival. Her friend. Her love. And Claudine would do her best to support her in any way she could. Coming back to Japan, she got Maya to agree to live with her, and even got a comfortable house closer to the performing arts company Maya worked under. She wouldn’t let anyone misguide Tendo Maya ever again. Blissfully unaware of who actually pulled all the strings, Claudine finished all the preparations and moved Maya to her house.
“Lost in thoughts, Saijou-san?”
A voice whispered softly near her ear, almost stopping her heart. “H-H-How dare you, you insufferable woman! You…!” Claudine yelled in surprise, and saw Tendo Maya’s gaze piercing her intensely, like a beast gawking at a small animal, playfully wondering how to devour it. It was a gaze Claudine received plenty in such a short time, and it would always make her shiver a bit. It was the gaze of a predator.
“Like I said, I need blood. I don’t know why you keep making a scene every time I ask you. It’s like you invited me to live with you unaware of my habits.” Maya said, sighing sadly in a way that Claudine was certain it was an act.
And Maya was right. Just a month ago, she started living with her, but completely forgot several important things regarding her new housemate. She was now unable to walk under sunlight, so Claudine was responsible for a lot of tasks that required going out during daytime. Worse of all, she was unable to even stay awake during the day, falling into a state of deep slumber which nearned death.
And finally, she could no longer consume normal food, having instead a diet consisting solely of blood. And more often than not, Claudine was the one Maya ogled at when hungry. But even so, she was surprisingly caring, never taking more than the bare minimum, and allowing Claudine to rest plenty between Maya’s bites, affectionately called kisses by the vampire woman.
“You keep refusing me every time, I’m starting to think I’m being hated.”
“Non! That’s not-” Claudine started to deny desperately, but realized that she had fallen right into Maya’s trap.
“So,” Maya raised her head with a smug, “you’ll give me just a few drops of your blood, won’t you, Saijou-san?”
Avoiding that avid gaze, Claudine could feel her reason slowly melting away, her thoughts getting muddier and harder to process. She didn’t know if this was Maya using one of her tricks, or if she had a supernatural presence that made it hard to deny her.
And then she felt a cold hand gently yet forcefully turning her head, making Claudine’s eyes meet with Maya’s captivating purple eyes, and her mind started bubbling. She thought about how much she wanted Maya to bite her, and she remembered the pleasure of being bitten. Maya calls it a kiss, and she obviously didn’t hate being kissed by that woman. She wanted to be loved by her, and if Claudine would just give her neck, Maya would certainly be thankful. She would be loved by Maya. She would…
“N-no. Your tricks don’t work with me, Tendo Maya.” Claudine glared those eyes back, and saw a hint of surprise behind that cool facade.
“I didn’t think you would resist my entrancement, Saijou-san. Of course, if I wanted, you would be captivated in an instant, so I held back.” Maya explained. “It would have no meaning to kiss you by using my presence. I want you to give me out of your own volition.”
Claudine knew that by ‘kiss’ she meant bite, but that sentence still made her face hot. It was unfair of Maya to use such a romantic word to convey something as aggressive as brutal as drawing blood from a victim. Although, just thinking about the last time Maya bit her was enough to make Claudine want more. Like an addictive drug, like the euphoria of the stage, it was something she instinctively yearned for. But her prideful self would never admit that.
And then Maya sighed heavier, and admitted defeat. “Ok, if you don’t want to, I’ll go out. Today a junior invited me for a drink, and I’ll kiss her instead. I’ll be back before dawn breaks.” she said, while picking her overcoat.
That did it. Claudine started fuming furiously, and she yelled. “No! Wait!”
Maya stopped on her tracks and looked back at Claudine, surprised. “Do you.. want to come to?”
“What? No! You irritating woman! Don’t go, ok? You can k-kiss me instead.”
The vampire made an almost comically confused face, and then broke into a knowing smile. “I see. Well, if you insist, then I will keep myself from eating outside.” And saying that, Maya sat on Claudine’s lap, facing her.
“Wait, right now?” Claudine yelped
“Can’t wait, I’m hungry” Maya flashed a playful smile, and started to slowly undress her prey.
“Wait wait wait, why are you undressing me?”
“It’s easier this way.” She said, with a perfect poker face
“No it’s not! You need to only bite my neck. Hggn, you…” but her complaints soon met an ending as Maya unbuttoned the shirt and caressed Claudine’s bare skin. It felt good, but at the same time, she could feel her cold and pale fingers, and a sharp and uncomfortable feeling stabbed her chest. She grabbed Maya’s hand and intertwined with hers, surprising the other woman.
“Your hands, they are cold”
“Well, yes. Did you forget what I am?”
“No. Not for a second. And, and I dislike it”
Claudine’s face grew sour, and Maya’s smile vanished as a concerned expression took over.
“I hate it. How you suddenly became someone else. How you suddenly died, and were replaced by this beast inhabiting your cold body. You seek blood, and you are a creature of the night. Someone else did that to you, and you just let them do it. I hate it.”
With downcast eyes, Claudine let all her frustrations out. Maya removed her hands from the grab, and put the finger on the woman’s chin, raising it to meet her eyes.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know you felt that way. I’m truly sorry, Claudine.”
She then closed her eyes and breathed slowly. Bit by bit, her pale skin started to gain a bit of color, and her fingertips grew warmer. She opened her eyes and smiled gently. “This is the best I can do, and I know that this isn’t enough for you to forgive me. But I hope this is enough for now.”
“How did you…”
“I simply let blood flow a bit. A neat trick for cold days, but it does make me a bit hungrier, so I hope you’re prepared.”
Claudine couldn’t help but giggle, her worries melting away. She was certainly a vampire, but she was still the gentle woman she loved so much.
Seeing her expression soften, Maya slowly descended her fingers and caressed against Claudine’s body. She then curved forward, and gently bit her bare shoulder, slightly brushing her fangs against her skin, but being careful not to draw blood. She then raised her mouth, and quickly closed it on Claudine’s neck, biting just enough to open a wound. She could feel her prey shivering in a mix of pleasure and torpor, and knowing that she was the reason made Maya even more excited. She then felt blood gushing forward, and proceeded to drink. After a little while, she licked the wound, and the bite mark slowly faded away.
“Are you alright, Claudine?” Maya asked. Claudine had a peaceful expression, eyes closed.
“Why does it feel so good, Maya?”
“Would be really hard for us to feed if the kiss was painful, don’t you think?”
“Oui. That makes sense.”
“You must be tired after losing blood. Sleep, and I’ll carry you to the bed.”
“Mmm… Maya?”
“What is it, Claudine?”
“I truly do love you.”
“I love you too, Claudine. More than you think.”
Maya gave Claudine a kiss on the lips, sullying it slightly in a bright crimson color. Carrying the woman to her room like a princess, the vampire was thankful she couldn’t blush.
